Arrival Story:
We fell in love with Norwegian Elkhounds when we were introduced to two by our friends Marc and Melissa in San Diego. We "adopted" Koloa from a breeder in Nebraska (the same breeder of one of Marc and Melissa's pups), and he was flown out to us in Arizona. Koloa was our first dog, and probably one of the most STUBBORN and intelligent dogs we've ever met! He has enough personality for 3 pups! But we love him even more because of it.

Bio:
My name, Koloa, is a Hawaiian name. My people parents got me only a week after their honeymoon to Kauai, and they decided to name me after a town in Kauai named Old Koloa Town. Koloa means two things in Hawaiian. It means either a type of Hawaiian duck native to the islands or long ("loa") sugar ("ko") cane. I prefer the latter meaning, because I have such a sweet tooth, but it makes mom and dad laugh to think of me being named after a duck. But I look nothing like a duck. I weigh 56 lbs. and I have ears that feel like velvet, and doe eyes that get me almost anything I want in life!
