Please Don't Worry About Us

We just wanted to tell ya that mom might not be posting as much for awhile because her bf is going through some problems and he needs her support so pawlease keep them in your prayers. Also mom is going to A Taste Of Summer on Thursday to see Bret Michaels and then she's going to be gone for a few days at the end of June because she'll be at Country USA in Oshkosh. So if you send us PPR's and messasges and we don't respond right away, we're not ignoring you! We will check in when we can!

Why Adoption Is Important To Me

Adoption is important to me because every year countless animals are euthanized due to lack of space in shelters. Did you know that over 200 animals are PTS every day? Thats over a million animals every YEAR! Why do animals end up in shetlers? They are found roaming the streets, confiscated from a bad situation or their owners just dont want them anymore so they surrender them to the local shelter. Often times people dont realize that that cute little doggy with the waggly tail in the window isnt going to stay that cute little doggie for long and within a few months the dog is "to big" and is sittin in a shelter waitin to get adopted. Well that is why adoption is important to me and my pack!

Adoptable

Well as most of you know my grandma passed away unexpectedly last April so my mom is now living with her aunt. She couldn't bring Lizzie in the house because her uncle was allergic and the dogs weren't cat friendly so she decieded that instead of making her suffer she would surrender her to the local shelter. I'm very attached to Lizzie so mom was afraid that I wouldn't last to long without her since I pretty much raised her as my feline puppy so we got surrendered together. We were at the Washington County Humane Society but mom doesn't know if we are there any more.

A Boys Birthday Wish

Shane Bernier is a courageous seven-year-old boy from Lancaster, Ontario who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was only five. On June 6, 2006 Shane and his family received some unfortunate news: Shane experienced a relapse after completing 108 of 130 weeks of treatment.
However, despite the bad news, Shane has managed to keep a positive outlook on his situation and has made a heart warming wish...he hasn't asked for money, toys or anything of the sort. Instead, his birthday is May 30th and he would like to break the world record for the most birthday cards ever received. His goal is 350 million cards. Attack Update!

UPDATE!!!

Took her to the vet and got some good news and some bad news.

Good news we got herto the vet in time and everything not related to attack is normal!
Bad news she had more injuries than originaly thought because some were covered by fur.
Good news she's putting weight on her bad paw more.
Bad news she's got bruises where the bite marks are and the worst bite was starting to get infected!
Good news is while at the vet I found out that the attack has not made her afraid of big dogs because a lab sniffed her and she licked their noselaugh out loud
Bad news she had a surface bite on her neck.
Good news she didn't bite the vet(she nipped and got a muzzle)

So the vet wasn't so happy with happened. She thought she was going to have to surgicly open one of the injuries cuz it wasn't opened. I got a picture of the bite areas because the Vet encouraged us to file report so we have a leg to stand on if the PD decides to do anything(incase the dog has a history of attacking other dogs and got reported to the PD)

Letter To Shelter About Attack(See Entry Below)

Dear HAWS,

I know you probably couldn't do anything about this but I was
wondering who to contact for a dog attack? I was on my home from
walking my dog ON leash and the other guys dog came upto her(this dog
seemed real friendly at first) I was trying to pull my dog towards our
house(we weren't even to houses away) my dog realizes I'm walking
away(I still had her on leash) so she starts to walk away when the
other dog lunges at her and it actually had her in his mouth and
dragged her a few inches(didn't get far because of the leash) my dog
was pinned to the ground and the other dog still had it's mouth on
her. Finally the other owner managed to pull his dog off of my dog. I
checked her out quick before we got back to the house and she was able
to walk and no signs of any bleeding but when I got back and got a
good look to make sure she was ok I noticed a small cut no bigger than
a dime on her belly. My dog did NOT fight back at all. The owner of
the other dog also had him on a leash. My dog is Shih-Tzu/Jack Russel
mix so she only weighs maybe 20lbs tops but the other dog was a Pit
Bull so if we didn't break them up when we did my dog would've been a
goner.Like I said both dogs were leashed and it was on their
apartments property. The owner was very nice and came back out after
taking his dog inside to make sure mine was ok. I still like Pit Bulls
but now I'm probably going be a little leary bringing my dog around
them for awhile.

I Got Attacked By A Pittie!

I was taking Dahlila out for a walk and we were maybe 2 houses away from home when a guy came out with his dog who was a Pit Bull he seemed really nice so the other owner and I agreed to let them sniff and move along well we started to walk away when the other dog LUNGED at Dahlila and dragged her a few inches! The dog had Dahlila in his mouth and litteraly PINNED to the ground! Finally the other owner managed to pull him off of her and asked if she was ok. I checked her over quick and said yes because there was no blood or anything. Get her home check her again and theres a cut about the size of a dime! I sent an email to the local shelter who also has connections to places to file a report. I hate to complain but this dog is one of the reasons people hate pits. Dahlila wasn't even fighting back! She was afraid to come by me to get a biscuit so I could clean her cut. As if my mom being in the hospital isn't enough stress now I have to worry about that dog being outside whenever I take Dahlila for walks in the future. This doesn't mean that I no longer like pitties cuz I do but right now I'm not liking that particular dog and will be leary of all Pitties until my dog is ok with them if this attack causes her to be afraid of them.

The scariest thing is that this guy was at least 60 lbs! Dahlila is 20 lbs max! She could've easily been ripped apart!

Why I Love Rescue

I LOVE rescues! Now don't get me wrong because I love all dogs but theres just something about rescues that gets me everytime! Most rescure/shelter dogs can be very forgiving and are 100% nothing but pure love and joy no matter what their life was like before coming into the rescue/shelter. When you adopt an animal whether it's a cat or a dog you ALWAYS walk out with a new best friend and a worm fuzzy feeling because you know that you saved more than one life. Your new friend by adopting them and another cat/dog by adopting your friend and opening up some space. When you adopt just remember that just because you may have only adopted one dog, you will always mean the world to that dog!

Grandma Might Be Dying...

Well Grandma is in the hospital. She has some sort of infection and it keeps spreading! She's a diabetic so theres only certain treatments the doctors can do. She was fine yesterday but then today she went into ceptic shock. Moms so confused right now. One day grandma is better next day she's worse. One doctor says one thing and another says something completly different. Mom says that Lizzie and I are the only things keeping her going right now and that other than her couple best friends she told today (all her friends know but only certain ones know the extent) we're her "Comfort" source. She told me and Lizzie that we have to be eachothers rock just like She has to be Grandpas rock. We miss grandma :*(

Uh-Oh Me Really Did It This Time!

Moms mad at me right now. She says I was a bad girl tonight! I got into Lizzie's cat food again. How does mom know these things? She don't even want to see me right now because I did some other things to. She was trying to do homework at the time to.

Yesterday it was real nice outside(it was in the 70's!) so mommy took me for a walk through the park! Me wuv the park almost as much as me mommy!

Lizzie was mean to me yesterday! First she hit me with her paw on the head, then the ear,then my tail and then she tries to bite me back paw! The nerve!

At The Shelter-Not What You're Thinking!!!

Well right now I could just KISS the brilliant person who thought of this! I know Dahlila is safe tonight even though she isn't home

Heres the story(I know some pups are going to growl at me) this morning I got up a little late and was hurrying to get my stuff together for school and my dad was waiting for me out in the car well I walked out the door and either I didn't shut it tight and it popped open and Dahlila snuck out or someone including me opened it to go outside and didn't see her follow them out(she's quite) but lucky someone found her and took her to the shelter and the shelter was able to track her chip to our #. Dad drove around 2 hours looking for her to. She's at the shelter until tomorrow since noone at the vet would pick up the phone and they won't realise her with out her shot info(I know she's due for all her shots) so hopefully they don't have the vets daughter behind the desk(last time we had to explain to her numerous times what we needed (for something entirely different))

I feel horrible now for not checking the door and Lizzie is TO quite tonight but we get our wittle Dahlila pants back tomorrow hopefully I get home!

Snow!

Lastnight our WHOLE town was under a Snow Storm advisory and grandmommy said it wouldn't come and well this morning what did I get the pleasure of having to potty in? SNOW! Grr it's to cold for my wee paws!

Mommy has a second a obession now! It's country music!She got to see Keith Anderson on 2/16 and she she says she loves him almost as much as me and Lizzie! She gets to see Toby Keith and Miranda Lambert in July!

Mom was at the Dog Bakery near her work today and they had Innova dog food on sale for little over 1.00 a can! so she bought 2 cans just incase I didn't like it. Well I gobbled it right down! I'm already having to eat Senior food! Mom says it seems like yesterday she was humiliating me by making me wear dolly clothes and making me sit in that doggone baby doll stroller! The Torture she put me through back in the day! Hmph!
Mom and grandma made an agreement: grandma pays for the vet and mom pays for the food(including the cat food)

Well She Finaly Updates!

Hello pals! Well I finaly got the human to updat my page and help me type in this here diary. I think mom needs to go in for some behavior assesment I mean the cat listens to me better than she does lately and the CAT never listens to anyone! I have to admit she has been acting very peculiar lately! This evening she was sharing my food/water dish with me!

Well it's official I'm now a Modern Dog! I got my first issue a few days back! Mommy has exams Tuesday and Wednesday(so far she don't have to come Thursday) so he schedual is going to be different! Well Stitch's mommy is helping mommy get our WI doggies and Kitties group going with some intresting stuff!

Happy birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday and mom went to petsmart and got me a kong with peanut butter snaps treats to go inside, a powzer ball and bacon bitz!

College

Moms been doing some research on her college schools that she wants to attend. So far she's looked into [b]UW WhiteWater[/b], [b]UW Stefens Point[/b] and [b]La Crosse[/b] so far Point and Whitewater are both under la crosse tuition fee for their grand totals. She's also looking into wctc and matc. She also checked Ohio State and Notre Dame for the heck of it.

Pray For Grandpa

A few days ago Grandpa banged his knee twice on the towball of the Uhaul we had rented. It swelled up and wasn't getting any better so auntie Paula and Grandma took him to the ER and he wound up being admitted to the hospital because his knee is infected and it spread to his lungs! He has to have knee surgery tonight at 6:30 to remove the fluid around the infected area. Mom told him to go into the ER when his doctor wouldn't take him in(unpaid bill appearently). The ER nurse called and raised hell with the reciponist at the doctors office because if they had got him in 2 days agao he may not of had to goto the ER and have the surgery! The hospital has one of the best OR staff teams in the state so thats some comfort. I'll keep you updated.

Stupid Landlord!

Our landlord is accusing me of digging holes in the yard that I never dug...I DON'T dig holes period and if I did they wouldn't be the size of a golf ball! We have TONS of gofers in the yard so most likely they are the hole diggers! Also there was poop in the yard and 95% of the time I don't potty in the yard because mom takes me for a walk on potty times. When do go out there it gets picked up. The people downstairs just moved out but they had a small dog and the people in the next building have a dog thats in our yard sometimes! Grrr! Mom says she'll leave the apartment if the guy makes her choose between the apartment and me if it gets to that point. We've been together way to long and through to much together for her to get rid of me!

Is It My Birthday?

First mom leaves and comes back with a digital camera. Then she went to the dollar store and got me a leash and matching collar,dog brush and two balls. The bad news is that she also got shampoo so I think it's bath time tomorrow! But like my new pics? Moms new camera has a screen so she can see what she takes a pic of before she takes it and she can delete the ones she don't want before she puts them on the computer!

Jodi's dogs need OUR help NOW!!!

Hey Dogsters!
I'm sure that many of you are familiar with a couple of our wonderful members -- Jodi and Cheesecake. If you are, you also know that they are the main spokesdogs for a wonderful rescue organization called Jodidogs Rescue, located in Estacada, Oregon. It is a small, sanctuary-type rescue located on 16 acres. Each of their dogs and cats was on the euthanasia list at a shelter. Many of us came to know and love Jodidogs such as Spoon, Underdog, Tiger and Leah. As many of our Dogster members are rescues ourselves, we naturally came to love and admire Jodidogs' human administrators.

Sadly, due to the kinds of complicated problems that often bedevil small rescues, Jodidogs is going to have to close.

This wonderful organization that has helped so many (maybe even you!!) is now in need of OUR help. There are several animals that need placement either in forever homes or with other rescue groups. There are transport issues. There are other logistical problems that need your keen minds!

So, a group has been formed to try to help solve these problems. Won’t you join us? Everydog can contribute an idea, a rescue contact, a suggestion, or a cheer!

This is an open invitation to all Dogster members to join our group, Jodidogs Support, Ideas and Fund. And maybe, just maybe, you have room for a new friend at your house, or know someone who does. Jodidogs Rescue also has a Petfinders page.

8 Simple Rules

Dear Diary,

I was watching 8 Simple Rules lastnight. It was a christmas episode and Carey came home with a dog she found running in the street. Her parents said she couldn't keep it and they took it to the shelter. Carey visited him at the shelter and found out they placed one dog that week and got 15 in. She started volunteering at adoption drives at the mall and said she wouldn't leave until one got adopted well one turned into all but the dog she found. She felt really bad and everytime her familly had a problems she brought the shelter situation up. Her dad felt bad for everyone so he got Rory a chemistry set,Bridget got her bf as a present from her dad and Carey got "Puppy" the dog she found in the street. Turned out they said no to him because they were going to adopt him. After the show they brought up the over population crisis and said that shelter dogs are just as good as pedigree dogs!

Dogsterers Like Dogs Under 5 better than Dogs Over 5?!

I've often wondered about that. When my pack first joined Cinco who was 1 yr and Lizzie who was 4 months got most of the requests! Now it's all the tiny dogs smaller than me getting all the friends and making it seem like a pawpularity contest. I admit I'm the same way at times but I always go back a day or so later and invite the older pups/cats to.

Sad But True
The pups that were here and freqeunted the forums either left or don't post anymore after some ground shaking events that have happened. Noone in my pack has seen their bf/gf in months. Lizzie is looking again. Toby is prolly upset with Blacky cuz he couldn't get to a computer for their wedding the last date scheduled. He did try before though infact he started the thread just the time difference affected everything we thought it was at 6 cst(our time) and she thought it was her time. Mom had to leave so we got off the net. We got off Toby came on. Cinco is happily married but Fluffer hasn't been on. Harley hasn't been here in forever. Max hasn't seen Alice or her pack in forever either. Freckles lives in our town so we know she's alive. Then theres all the debates. We can no longer discuss mutts vs. purebreds because it's sensitive of a subject. Might as well say no more talking about Pit Bull related stuff since thats sensitive to. Just my 2 cents though....

Poor Fellow

Mom was at the shelter tonight cuz grandma wanted to talk to someone there so mom came along. Mom went to the kitten display window when she over heard a volunteer say come on pretty girl mom turned and looked and saw a volunteer walking an old dog into the back and her heart just sunk.She greeted mom as she walked in and was the sweetest dog. Mom knew it was her last walk. Mom looked at the dogs but came out when they got to loud in the back(alot of bc mixes) she fell in love with some kittens there in the office that just came out of foster care. On the way out the dogs owner was sitting in front of his car crying over the loss the of his dog. Mom told grandma that she felt for him cuz she's been there with Max and Blacky and even though Cinco wasn't PTS theres still that empty hole in her heart that wants to know where he is.

Exams

My mom is having exams today thru Thursday but she doesn't have to go to school for them tomorrow so I get her all day tomorrow!!! YIPEE!!! Also mom can watch her All My Children,One Life To Live and General Hospital. Hopefully she'll take me to the park tomorrow during Starting Over House. Right now she's in her third hour Bio exam waiting for everyone else to finish their projects so she's on the computer. Her second hour exam was nothing but the teacher giving a speech to the class. Mom keeps saying something about seeing "Lonestar" on Saturday with her friends. Now it would sound fun if only I knew what the heck a "Lonestar" was?

Uh-Oh Moms Annoyed...

Well mom took me on my morning walk this morning and something happened that got her annoyed because it's one of her pet peeves. We were walking and across the street there was two dogs outside and their owners were in the garage doing something and NOT watching the dogs. Well one of the dogs trots across the street by me and Dahlila and do you think the owners noticed? NO! Luckily the dog was easily distracted by sniffing a fire hydrant long enough for me and Dahlila to get out of site. On the home a lady was out with her dogs and they got away from her but atleast she WAS WATCHING them and had them on a leash! The whole point in this rant is to tell dog owners that if your keep your pups offleash outside you HAVE to watch them constantly! You never know when someone will walk by with a dog or if they'll go into the street and get hit by a car.

Well mom just told me that come October,I might be getting a brother or sister thats a dog! Moms not sure what kind of dog it'll be yet(she asked me but I told her to surprise me) I keep seeing webpages with pictures of Labrador Retreiver pictures so maybe she's looking to get me a labby brother or sister? I wouldn't minde because two of my best pals(sadly ones at the bridge) are labs! But all this depends on grandma and grandpa and moms job situation at that time to! So paws crossed that gram and gramps say yes and that mom has a job!

Minooka Park!

Mom took me to the Walk today to help HAWS! I had sooooooo much fun! I met my Labrador pal Max and I made friends with moms other friends Westie named Cleo(she's trying to get her on dogster!) and she's 5! I even went swimming for a few minutes! The dog bakery lady was even there! Grandma bought me dog treats,a treat holder and ordered me a dog belt! Mom got a shirt for getting over 30.00(she got 55.00) in donations!

On Saturday mom is taking me to the HAWS Pet Walk-A-Thon! She's collecting pledges and she's almost reached her goal of 100.00. So far she's at 55.00! The walk is at Minooka Park in Waukesha from 9am til 3pm!

What Annoys Mom The Most...

Well the thread titled Problems with People vent here thread made by Lily got mom thinking of other things that people do at dog events or just out in general that annoy her. First, if parents don't want their children getting hurt at stores like PetSmart or Petco then then WATCH them. If you're children want to pet a strange dog they don't know and the owners there make them ASK the owner for permission. If they say no then that means NO. If child gets bit after they said no petting it's YOUR fault not theirs. They were doing their job by telling you their dog doesn't like children or other dogs. You take a dog to the store with you keep it in the same isle as you and not you in one isle and the dog in another! If your dog starts barking at another dog and scares the other dog then don't turn it around and say it was the other dog who scared yours! Finaly the thing that realy gets me and it's so little is that if the dog is over 1 years old they are NOT puppies! If you know your dog isn't good with other dogs then either muzzle them when you goto dog events or don't take them because if another dog or person gets hurt it's your fault and if the law gets involved they can order the dog is quaranteened and or pts!

Spring break

Guess what that means? Mommy is OFF OF SCHOOL! Thursday she walked me to the park and yesterday down the street. She didn't take me nowheres today though because she got her wisdom teeth out.

Yesterday beside the walk she took me to petlicious dog bakery's easter party and maid me wear this silly bonnet but I got 2nd place! I found lots of easter eggs though on the hunt! The only thing I didn't like was the Yorkie snapping at me.

Easter Egg hunt!

My day started when I woke up this morning to no mom because she stayed with a friend lastnight. When she came home she took me out and played with me. Grandpa came home and mom asked him about something and before I knew I was going on a roadtrip! I went to a Easter Egg Hunt for dogs sponsored by the Doggy Bag Bakery. I didn't find much because I was one of the last dogs to get in the woods but I did find a HUGE biscuit and an egg with a coupon for a FREE gift!

Just me and Lizzie now

Mom had to rehome Cinco because he SA got to be to much for her and Grandma and Grandpa to handle. We gave him more of a chance than previous owners did because we had him for a year and they only had him a few months each. I miss him as much as mom but mom told me it was best for him because he has a chance for someone who really knows how to train SA dogs. I don't really miss getting clobbered on the head with his HUGE paws though.

Cinco got out today and got caught by the Humane Society and now cuz they didn't see his city license tag(must have fallen off when he was running). So grandma called the vet to fax over all his info to them and last she checked they're still waiting. She even brought his file over to the Shelter which has his proof of the 4 year license but they still had to wait on the vet and since it was after hours Cinco has to spend the night there =( also mom don't trust them(wouldn't let her adopt the dog she wanted before Cinco because they said we wouldn't get along when they knew me 5 minutes and mom knew me 6 years and they think that after they do the evals that they know every single dog there). I don't want to know what Cinco is going through right now(seperation anxiety). Lizzie and I miss our brother and mom misses her "son" =(

I'm 8 years old!

Dear Diary,

I'm 8 years old today! I can't beleive I've been here 8 years already! Seems like yesterday my family picked me out of all my littermates! They almost left with my sister but then they saw me and wee scruffy lil face! This time every year I often find myself wondering about my 1st human mom,doggy mom and my brothers and sisters. I wonder what happened to them,do they have good family's,did my brothers hernia get better,is my mom stll alive,what happened to my sister that they almost took him? Etc.

For the love of...

Recently dogster has had a problem with a certain someone(you know who you are 2) stealing pics from pups and posting these pics their fake dogs! Because of this mom asked a few pups to watermark her images so they can't steal them. Why I'm a mentioning this here you ask? Because some of my best pup pals where hurt because of this! There were pup using some of my pals names and stealing their pics off their pages! This just makes me Sick!

On brighter note mom helped me write to Santa Paws!

Also be careful what you say on your diaries because moms friends dog Freckles page got flagged just for saying something like "I hate my new puppy brother, he sniffs my butt,I hate butt sniffers!"! Great Grandma won't donate fr a stupid reason!

My grandma called my moms grandma to see if she wanted to give mom $5 for the Wag Walk on Saturday and somehow she found out that we got a Lizzie and she's all saying that 3 animals are 2 much! Mom was just like and this has to do with the wag-walk how? It's none of their barking bussiness why my family has me and 2 other dogs! Lizzie is part of the family now and if they don't like it then they can forget about my mommy being part of their family! If the 2 youngest kids in the family asked for money for something stupid she'd fork it out right away! She'd even give them $50.00! When moms lucky if she barking $5! Another thing that mom is mad about is that grandma and grandpa took it to a bar they goto once in awhile and they got $10 for the shelter from everyone who donated and she don't know these people hardly at all but yet they give her money and yet her own grandma gives her doggly squat! Well mom ain't visiting her tomorrow night like she was going to. She's one of the people mom is going to not contact in a few years any more than she has to!
