Quick Bio:
-dog rescue

Birthday:
July 1st 1996

Likes:
treats, belly rubs, treats, ear scratches, treats, naps, treats

Pet-Peeves:
Scary dogs like the chihuahua next door, fireworks, thunder, being left alone, running out of treats, my sister dressing me up (or trying to) in humiliating outfits. Seriously, do I look like a pumpkin to you?? She tried to make me be one for Halloween.

Favorite Toy:
I don't play with toys -- they're for puppies.

Favorite Food:
Chicken anything, puperoni, cough drops (when I can steal them)

Favorite Walk:
To the nursing home where my uncle lives. I miss him and love to visit him. Everybody there loves me! I get lots of belly rubs and treats!

Best Tricks:
Before my uncle died, I used to open the doors between the floors of our house and go up and visit him. And get lots of treats. Now I just chase my tail a lot.

Arrival Story:
Until I was 4 1/2 I lived with a girl named Nicole. Then, on Thanksgiving Day 2000, a horrible thing happened. She died from an asthma attack. I was so scared about what would happen to me because I knew her mom and dad couldn't take me in because they're both allergic to dogs. I thought for sure I'd wind up at the pound. I was in our apartment, all alone, for two whole weeks. I was so scared and worried. The night before I was supposed to go to the pound, one of Nicole's friends (really I think she's my guardian angel) came by and saw what was going to happen. She said that her grandma and aunt needed a dog because their dog died a few months before that, and they were still really sad. She said that she thought I'd make them happy again. So, Nicole's parents let her "borrow" me to show me off to her auntie and grandma. They were at her house babysitting for "The Kid", one of my best friends now. When she first walked in with me and told them my story, the grandma said "Absolutely not! I can't go through losing another dog!", (they had their poodle for almost 19 years -- she was still really, really sad) but the auntie said yes and got really sad until the grandma said yes, too. Off I jumped into my new car and went on a ride to my new home, a new adventure. I was one lucky pup! On the way home the grandma (my new mom) made the auntie (my new sister) stop and buy me lots and lots of treats. While my sister was in the store, my new mom patted me and said, "She thinks you're going to her dog, but I'll have you all to myself during the day while she's at work. I'm going to spoil you rotten. You're my baby now!".

Bio:
My Gussie passed over to the Rainbow Bridge on August 26, 2005. We had no warning; she was never sick and only nine years old. The vet said she had a stroke, brought on by fear during an attack by an unleashed neighbor's dog running wild. She's missed terribly and will always hold a special place in my heart.

I've Been Tagged!

Hiya pups! My pals Champ and Sandy tagged me and now I'm it. I get to choose 7 of my pals to tag.

Here are the rules:

Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Dogs who are tagged, need to post in their Diary the rules & their 7 pawsome facts. Then choose 7 dogs to tag and list their names. Don’t forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fun Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!

Here are 7 fun facts about me! Gussie

1.My first owner's parents owned an Italian restaurant, so I was addicted to pasta.

2. I used to sleep curled up around my sister's head so she could pet me during the night.

3. One Christmas Day, I locked myself in and my sister out of her car while it was running. With the spare keys in her purse, in the car!

4. We lived in a 2 flat building, and I learned how to open the doors to go upstairs to visit my uncle.

5. I wouldn't take treats from anyone but my uncle. Not even my mom or my sister!

6. I hated being picked up.

7. This is humiliating to admit, but I once got my paw stuck in my ear, and my sister had to unstick me!

Pass on the fun...

Gussie

My Tail of Devotion for Gustina

My Darling Gussie,
I miss you more than you can ever know. I always said that I probably wouldn't have picked you out myself -- I wanted a smaller dog, and I wanted a puppy. But you came to me; you needed me; and, although I didn't know it at the time, I needed you just as much -- maybe even more. Some higher power put you right where I needed you to be, and your sweet and gentle ways had an amazing healing power over me. We were two middle-aged ladies hanging out together. You were a precious gift that we had in our lives for a much too short time. The four and a half years we were together flew by. Mom says it's like you were here only an instant before you left us.

We have some great memories, though, don't we? I remember the first time we saw you open the doors between the two flats and go upstairs to visit Uncle Ron. We laughed so hard because it finally explained how you would always be up there visiting, even though he'd swear he didn't come downstairs to get you when we weren't looking. I know how much you missed him when he got sick and had to leave us. You left us so soon after he did that sometimes Mom and I think that maybe he came back for you. He really loved you. I hope you cross the Bridge and visit him sometimes, but cross back over and wait for me at the Bridge. I'll be there for you someday, my baby. I promise you.

Do you remember the time at the St. Francis blessing at church when you thought that mean dog was Misty? You were so happy to see her and went to play. When she pounced at you and growled and you took off and hid under the car? The priest managed to bless you even under there, and we eventually enticed you out with treats. But what a funny story! You made me laugh again.

And I'll always remember the time you got your paw stuck in your ear. I'll never know how you managed to do that, but I know how grateful you were that I unstuck you. I got so many of your precious puppy kisses for that.

And how about the time Rascal next door scared you? You ran and hid under Rocky, and the poor big guy had no clue what was going on. Boy! Were you brave then, under the shadow of your boxer buddy!

The day you left us was one of the saddest days of my life. I think of you daily, and I hope you're at peace at the Bridge, running free and chasing squirrels. I hope you finally get one. I miss reaching over my head at night and feeling your comforting presence right over my pillow. You were the best dog ever, and I'll never stop loving you.
