Arrival Story:
Back in 1999 a stray hound dog came to our farm but it was too scared to come to us when we called him. He sat across the road on the top of a hill for weeks just watching us. We called him The Stray. If we called to him he would slink off. But one cold rainy day one of my daughters found him sitting in our garage and when we saw his lovable face we instantly fell in love with him. He had on a nice leather collar. We took it off to see if we could find the name of his owner. There was nothing on the collar at all. We called area hunters and reported this found dog to area vet clinics. No one ever came looking for him or claimed him, so we ended up with another stray dog. We had been calling him The Stray and after we ended up keeping him we called him "Tray", removing the "s". Then we changed it to Trey.

We got Trey neutered and vaccinated. He looks like a black and tan hound but maybe isn't a purebred. Whatever he is , he was here to stay. But the poor fellow was so terribly afraid of any movement we would make we wondered if someone had beaten him. It took him several months to make eye contact with us. He would cower if we just raised a hand to put on a cap or made a hand motion while talking. He hated it when friends or strangers came into our yard and would slink away. But finally after over a year he gradually got over his cowering. We talked to him and petted him a lot. Finally he was brave enough to come up on the front porch like the rest of the dogs and became a very happy and even playful dog. As he got older we dreaded the day he would depart from the earth, and his day of rest came on Sunday December 16, 2007, as he slept on his favorite old blanklet; a peaceful departure back to God who made him and allowed us to enjoy him for several years.
