My Tail of Devotion for Oscar Meir

Oscar, my love....for days, I have agonized over what I could possibly write that would adequately express my devotion to you. My first inclination was to write something eloquent and profound. But our relationship has never been either eloquent or profound. So, I decided that the most meaningful I could do for you is to simply repeat the very things I have said to you each and every day of your life:

1. I love you.
2. I will always love you, no matter what.
3. There's not one thing that will ever make me not love you.
4. You are the cutest and most loved dog in the world. (I know lots of other moms have told their pups the very same thing....but they are wrong!)
5. {smooch on the head, smooch on the head, smooch on the head} That's our little ritual....three kisses on top of the head, that translates to mean "No other dog in the history of the world has ever been more loved than you."

There. I've said all of these things about a million times over the last 16 years, but this is the first time I have ever written them down. It doesn't make them any more true....it just makes them more permanent. Someday many years from now, someone will unearth this record, and know that you were not just some ordinary dog......you were the cutest and most loved dog in the world!
