Arrival Story: our friends had a golden retriever that we just loved, so we did some research on breeders in our local area. we found a very nice lady in livermore who had a very nice golden named nicki who, in turn, had seven cute little, comma-shaped pups that were less than 4 weeks old. abby was the last little girl available, and she was cute as a button. we came back to visit her a few times before she was old enough to leave her mother. suddenly, the little comma was looking more and more like a pugnacious little puppy! finally, the day arrived for us to bring abby home and we learned just how little we knew about puppies! however, she's gradually trained us to a point of near-competence and it keeps getting more fun to be dog-parents all the time!

Bio: "i was born a very young pup in livermore, california. i had a mother, father, and lots of brothers and sisters but i couldn't see them yet because my eyes didn't know how to open right away. anyway, one day these two big humans came and played with me and squealed a whole bunch. they came back a few more times, even after my eyes learned how to open, and then one day they forgot to put me back down with my mom when they got ready to leave, and instead i was riding away in this thing called a "car" with only a burlap chew toy to comfort me. those were dark days made even darker by the abuse of my two new cat-sisters, lillie and selena. a curse on their blighted, fish-breathed souls! sure, they would pretend to be nice, but just try a playful little nip on one of their ears and you'll see how sharp their claws are! sometimes i would howl and run around at night looking for my mom, but i never found her. during these tribulations, my humans would pet me, rub my belly, and stroke me softly from the top of my nose to my forehead. this made me feel a lot better. i learned to love my two big, goofy humans and life is pretty good now. i've trained them to take me on walks, feed me good treats, and leave room at the foot of the bed for me to sleep each night. it's not "mtv cribs" or anything, but i'm not exactly hurting for the bling. feel me?
