Leave a bone for Booker T.

Boober, Booger, BooBoo, Stinky McGee, Bookersaurus Rex, Poo-Eater, Poo-Bear

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:

Booker is neurotic about car rides. Known to sit for hours in truckbeds waiting for someone to drive him. He's also quite insistent that he's given a good rubdown several times a day.

He doesn't like being without his collar and gets upset if the cats step on him or try cleaning his ears. Booker is also disturbed by corgi gangs and people who have bags on wheels.

Favorite Toy:
His duck mainly, but anything that squeaks and can be used in tug of war is adored.

Favorite Food:
Fortune cookies, pork, cheese, anything we're eating. He really loves milk and will steal from the calves' pails if there's no excess milk to be had at the dairy barn.

Favorite Walk:
Booker loves to go anywhere that has cow pies. He also enjoys strolling through tall weeds.

Best Tricks:
Booker constantly asks to have his paw shaken and will play dead if you point your finger and say 'bang'. Listens attentively for any mention of the words "go", "ride", "car", "key", and "shoes".

Arrival Story:
Jonathan and I jokingly mentionned that we had room for a dog in our new house to my family. While my sister helped us move she gave us a sob story about how this fantastic & sweet hunting dog needed a home because his owners were moving. She proceeded to call us several times praising Booker's grandness and how it wasn't fair that he was being sent to the pound. We felt properly guilty and took him sight unseen. He came with a doghouse, a kennel, and a teddy bear. He was supposedly an 'outside dog' but he must have smelled our weak nature. Jonathan was gone the first night Booker came to live with us, so Booker convinced me that he needed to keep me company in the bed. Upon Jonathan's return, Booker claimed the bedroom couch. His vacant doghouse and kennel was soon occupied by a possom, who consequently, also stole the teddy bear.

In his previous home, he ate boxes of rat poison but fought off death. In our home he eats anything he can reach, including 2lbs of pilot bread from Alaska. Everybody loves Booker and he exploits this as much as possible. Booker sometimes agrees to retrieve but prefers keeping tossed object so you'll chase him. He is known to pee on said object once he's tired to prevent others from taking it. Booker T. is extremely laid back and likes children (they tend to drop food a lot) and he is very tolerant of most cats. When he gets the chance, Booker enjoys a good chicken chase as well.

The kitchen is a great place to hang out. My people are messy when cooking and are always dropping yummy morsels. I get yelled out when I try to take a peek in the oven. Tonight we had some pork. It was very juicey. I was tossed a nice piece and when tried catching it in my mouth, it bounced off my nose. Mogwi was nearby and tried taking advantage of the situation. He almost ran off with the food, but Kelly stopped him and tossed it back to me. She's good folk (even though she didn't take me in the car today, hmmmmph). I'm breaking in my downstairs bed quite nicely. It's so very plushy. The cats are still enamored with it and they keep rubbing their stink into it. They do that to me as well. A little too much, I might add. Their either trying rubbing on me or yelling at me for looking at them wrong. Mogwi got angry at me the other day and I didn't even do anything!! He got into trouble and was scolded by Kelly. I came into the room when I heard the commotion and Mogwi got cranky at me. As if I was the one to blame!!! I tried playing with Star, a neighbor dog, tonight. She rebuffed my advances. I don't know why she won't play with me. I may be trying to hard to get her attention. I may need to learn some new moves. It's lightly snowing tonight. I wish it snow more. I love running and jumping in snow. My favorite winter sport is catching snowballs in my mouth. We haven't had enough snow to do that yet. It's still early in the season though. At least it's finally starting to get cold. I don't mind that too much. I got some strong healthy fur. What I can't stand is the rain. I've always hated it, but I despise it even more since I was sprayed by the skunk. I'll save that story for another time.

Thanksgiving treats and more

I had a swell time traveling to Illinois for the holiday. The people we stayed with TOTALLY let me sleep on their furniture!! I find sleeping on floors demeaning. There was lots of love to be had and people were properly adoring of me. Mucho handshakes, pats, belly rubbing, treats, and petting. The bossy toddler was around as well, but I don't mind her so much as she's quite clumsy and tends drop goodies a lot. A whole lot. Her little sister is getting bigger and as a result, more grabby and demanding. I just stood there & let the baby do her hugging and kissing thing, the humans really appreciate that. When she got too pokey, I just walked away. It's a good system for all. The highlight of the trip was when I was left alone one afternoon. I hit the jackpot when sniffing for TREASURE. In some bag behind a door, I found cookies, crackers, chocolate bars, and gummi bears. They were all quite tasty. There were some chocolate pudding cups as well, but the Vivian lady returned so I had to scram from the scene. She still ratted me out to the others when they returned. I feigned confusion at her accusations, but still got scolded from Jon. It was a half-hearted attempt though on his part, and I got some sympathy from the others. It was alllllll good.

Yesterday, Jon brought home a new bed for moi. It's super nice and plush. Just the way I like 'em. Unfortunately, the cats seem to like 'em that way as well. It's been hard keeping possession of the bed. Everytime I left it, some cat would magically appear there. They've even started double teaming me as well. I have to have Kelly or Jon shoo them away. How embarassing!! The positive part is that Kelly felt sorry for me today after my bed had been hijacked for the umpteenth time and tossed me a sausage. Gooooood times.

I love me some SALAMI!!!

Went to the store with Kelly the other day. When she was putting away the groceries, some meat fell out. It looked mighty tasty so I pulled out my 'adorable dog expression' that no one with a heart can resist. I managed to convince Kelly that the salami needed to be tested. She tossed me a slice or two. It was quite yummmmmmy. I think I should be fed salami every day. That's only fair. After all, I keep the cats in line while Kel and Jon are at work. And I don't complain too much when they get home late some days. I deserve more treats. I'm a darn good dog (when I want to be) and I should be compensated. Until I get more salami, I'm practicing civil disobedience. I'm pretending that I can't hear them when they say my name or "come" or "no" or anything else they deem to be an important command. They hate it when I ignore them. I can play deaf like the best of them. I want me some salami!!!
