Arrival Story:
I have always owned cats, and my husband had a Boston Terrier before we were married. While Ben is a veterinarian, he's actually not much of a cat person, and I do not like little neurotic dogs very much. So when we brought my two cats and Gizmo into a house together, there was a real dividing line in the household. It was always "your cats" and "your dog". We decided we needed a neutral pet. It has to be a dog for Ben, of course, but Ben said it could be any breed I wanted. I had always loved Sibes, but we researched the breed for months--we read a million books on huskies and puppy training, we called breeders and show judges, and we visited breeders and looked at puppies without buying. Finally, we were ready...and Nayana is the most wonderful, beautiful dog in the world. She is husky-like in that she has boundless energy, loves people and other dogs, and adores running and digging (although we try to curb that). However, she is also very trainable (she went through two obedience classes and passed the CGC test with flying colors) and only rarely flips us the doggie finger. She also loves cats and isn't too noisy--she talks a lot, though! We love her to death!

Bio:
The name "Nayana" comes from a Hindii word that means "One with charming eyes." While my husband and I have raised her since she was seven weeks old, she is very partial to her "mom," as I am the one who finds it hard to discipline her! She is very aware that she is loved and adored, and naturally assumes that she is the most important member of the household. She has assumed our guest bed as her own, and spends some time each night rearranging the pillows for maximum comfort (see picture). She travels with us as much as possible, and loves new places and new people. It's great to have a dog that we know we can take into any situation and she'll be okay. We recently had our first child, a daughter, and Nayana is just wonderful with her. She is very protective while not getting too close to those baby hands...they grab her fur and pull hard!
