 Quick Bio:
Likes: Receiving belly rubs, savoring meal times, getting attention, munching on snacks, sniffing, chewing, riding in the car, playing tug-of-war, roaming in the backyard and occasionally barking at the neighbors.

Pet-Peeves: I don't like being left alone for too long, and the sound of the vacuum cleaner makes me cringe. And please don't pull on my ears; they are not a toy.

Favorite Toy: Soft squeaky things that I can chew up and rip apart.

Favorite Food: I do not discriminate. Why? Whatchya got for me?

Favorite Walk: Around the block.

Best Tricks: I can sit for a treat according to my whim.

Arrival Story: Our house and yard were hand-picked as a home for a future basset hound. Bassets are a sentimental favorite. Our favorite aunty is in heaven now, along with her bassets Max, Chloe, and Barley. Walter showed up at the Agoura Hills animal shelter one rainy January day. We played with him outside in the rain at the shelter that day until we were all soaking wet. We took him home, and the rest of the story is pure love. (of course, now he hates going out in the rain.)

Bio: Walter's previous owner gave him up because of "excessive barking". He hardly ever barks now that he has found his true home. The doorbell and strangers on his turf are the only reason to bark, but we have discovered a trick: when a new person sits on the couch next to his mom, Walter is instantly quiet and comes running for rubs. He is a bit discriminating when it comes to the company of other dogs -- just recently he started getting a little temperamental. Maybe he has become used to being an only child...

Yesterday Coco (she is my guardian, not a dog) picked me up from the pet hotel with her cute redheaded friend. I was so ecstatic to see her! I yelped like there was no tomorrow! She has no idea what it's like in there. The other freaked out dogs growl and bark into the wee hours, and I can't get any rest. I do like the daily cookie they provide, but it is still nothing like being at home. I like being an only child, with the occasional foray into the dog park for some quality sniff time, but then I like to go home and sit in my house and be alpha. So if you are reading this, Coco, please don't leave me again. Ever.
This morning on our daily outing, it was the usual dance where Coco would not let me sniff to my heart's content. I don't get why she wants me to keep moving forward! "Nobody loves a big fat basset" she always says, but I know different. I thought when she looked away I had scored when I wound up with an old banana peel in my chompers (heaven!) but she caught me and made me drop it. Oh well, I suppose she knows best.
