“Individual heart cells beat at their own rate when separated from each other, a phenomenon easily observed beneath a microscope. It has long been known that when they are pushed together, they will synchronize their pulses. Recent studies have shown, however, that heart cells begin to synchronize slightly before they touch. It is not known how they signal to each other across this distance. Some scientists speculate that this method of communication may be able to cross great distances, and may explain how social animals bond, or how pets seem to sense when their masters are coming home, or even how people fall in love, one heart calling to another.”

From time to time, people tell me, “lighten up, it’s just a dog,” Or “that’s a lot of money for just a dog.” They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for “just a Dog.”
Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a dog.”
Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a dog,” but I did not once feel slighted.
Some of my saddest moments have been spent with “just a dog,” and in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a dog” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.
If you, too, think it’s “just a dog,” then you will probably understand phases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise” or “just a promise.”
“Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.
“Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that make me a better person.
Because of “just a dog” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.
So for me and the folks like me, it’s not “just a dog” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment.
“Just a dog” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.
I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a dog” But the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a person.”

1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
5. If it's mine, it must NEVER appear to be yours in ANY way.
6. If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it just looks like mine, it's mine.
8. If I saw it first, it's mine.
9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
10. If it's broken... it's yours.

Encourage people to believe in you.
Always remember who's naughty and who's nice.
Don't pout.
It's as much fun to give as it is to receive.
Some days it's okay to feel a little chubby.
Make your presents known.
Always ask for a little bit more than what you really want.
Bright red can make anyone look good.
Wear a wide belt and no one will notice how many pounds you've gained.
If you only show up once a year, everyone will think you're VERY important.
Whenever you're at a loss for words, just say, "HO, HO, HO!"

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.
My house could be carpeted instead of tiled.
All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.
When the doorbell rang, the house wouldn’t sound like a kennel and I could get to the door without wading through a fuzzy body that beats me there every time.
I could sit on the couch the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space a fur-baby will need to get comfortable.
I would not have strange presents under my Christmas tree - Dog Bones - Stuffed Animals - nor would I have to explain why I wrap them.
I would not be on a first-name basis with three Veterinarians.
I would still have a Bank Account!
The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: Out, Sit, Down, Come, No, Stay, Off, and LEAVE IT!
My pockets would not contain things like Poop Bags, Treats and an Extra Leash.
I would no longer have to spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E-E, or W-A-L-K.
I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.
I would not look strangely at people who think having a dog would tie them down.
I'd look forward to spring and the melting of snow instead of dreading mud season.
I would not have to answer the question:: "Why do you have a dog?" from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by something as close to an angel as they will ever get.
If I didn’t have a Dog, how empty my life would be.

"Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me what Christmas is all about?"
"Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you."
"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'".
"That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

A Dog’s Guide to Training Your Human!
(If you follow these simple instructions, you can have your human trained in no time!)
1. After your human has given you a bath, DON'T LET HER TOWEL DRY YOU!
Instead, run to her bed then jump up and dry yourself off on the sheets. This is especially good if it's right before your humans bedtime.
2. Act like a convicted criminal. When your human comes home, put your ears back, your tail between your legs, keep your chin down and act as if you have done something REALLY bad. Then, watch as your human frantically searches the house for the damage she thinks you have caused. (Note: This only works when you have done absolutely nothing wrong.)
3. Let your human teach you a brand new trick. Learn it perfectly. Then, when your human tries try to demonstrate it to someone else, stare blankly back at her. Pretend you have no idea what she’s talking about.
4. Always draw attention to your human. When out for a walk always pick the busiest, most visible spot to go 'Poo Poo'. Take your time and make sure everyone watches. This works particularly well when your human forgets to bring a plastic bag.
5. When out for a walk, alternate between choking, barking and coughing every time a strange human walks by.
6. Make your own rules. Don't always bring back the stick when playing fetch with the humans. Make them go and chase it once in a while.
7. Hide from your humans. When your humans come home, don't greet them at the door. Instead, hide from them, and make them think something terrible has happened to you! (Don't reappear until one of your human is panic-stricken and close to tears!)
8. When your human calls you to come back in, ALWAYS take your time. Walk as slowly as possible back to the door.
