Arrival Story:
My fiance felt I needed another baby. So, since that couldn't have another child, I felt I needed to have a puppy. I found a breeder in the newspaper. It just so happened this breeder was pretty much giving the puppies away. He told us that he wasn't trying to breed his dogs and it was accidential that the mother got pregnant. So, we went to his home and that is where I met Spike's mother and father. When I went inside the home, I saw all of Spikes brothers and sisters. The other puppies were all over the place, but Spike was the runt of the litter. He was off in a corner all by himself. The owner reached down and picked up a male puppy and handed him to me. I told him that I wanted to get the smaller one in the corner. When I picked him up, it looked as if he had his nails broken and there was some discoloration on his right front paw. The owner told me he was under weight and he didn't expect him to live much longer because he was not eating nor was he moving around a lot. He stated I wouldn't want him because he was so little and not as active as teh rest of the puppies. At this time the puppies were 6 weeks old. I told the owner that I wanted Spike because he needed attention and I wanted to help him. I brought him home and bottle fed him for several weeks. At first he wouldn't take it, so he was pretty much licking milk and water off of my fingers. He was so scarie. It was hard but he came around and now, this is my sweet little BABY.
