Mama said something weird today when I was getting tickles. She said, "Beware the eyes of march!" and she laughed and laughed. What the heck are the eyes of march?? She said something about doggies named Plutarch and Caesar. Maybe I'll meet them sometime. Oh dang, sometimes I get so confused.

Almost New Year's Day...

Dear Diary,

It's New Year's Eve and neither of us (me and mama) have hot dates for tonight. I guess we'll be in watching Dick Clark one more year BOL. He's lookin' pretty good these days for an old guy.

We're glad 2009 is over. Things about hit bottom for a lot of people and we're hoping 2010 brings some stability and prosperity to America. It's no fun to worry about money and bills. Many people have had to give up their pets because of the expense or because they've lost their homes. I can't even imagine how awful that must feel.

My new year's wish is that every animal and person finds a great place to live and a job to do. I hope that no one goes hungry and that life treats everyone more gently.

It's my birthday!

Yippee! Today is my birthday. Happy Birthday to me and to all the other Dogsters who have today as their big day. I know I'm going to have fun and I hope your mommies and daddies make your day something special to remember, too. Mama always does something nice for other people on her birthday, but she says 'cause I'm a dog, she will do something for me and I don't even have to share BOL. I wonder if it's some cookies? Hmmm...

I can't wait...

because my birthday is almost here. September 14 is the big day and mama promised me we'd do something special. Then yesterday, when she was visiting our friend JuJu, Juju's mama said something about taking us all camping at the BEACH! OMD, my favorite place in the whole world. There's bugs, and lots of stinking seaweed to roll in, birds to chase and the waves. We're gonna take our little teardrop campers so that means that I get to sleep in mama's bed at night, too. It's gonna be awesome. I wish that all my Dogster buddies could come along so we could play.

Summer has finally cooled off. It got so hot that we couldn't take walkies in the daytime because the sidewalks were too hot. The only good place outside was the shade under the apple tree. No adventures, no excitement, no dog park. Mama said not to complain, at least we had A/C and could escape the worst of the heat.

I hope all you Dogsters are having a fun summer and are well and happy. That's what a dog's life is all about.

MY bicycle got a tuneup!

Why do I think this is a big deal? Now that spring is here in Oregon and it's not raining every single day, I get to go for rides with my mama. I have a blue milk crate that she's bungie'd on the back and there a soft pillow inside just for me. I like it when we go fast and my ears fly back in the wind like little wings. We go to the wildlife refuge that just down the road (on a bike path where it's safe, of course). We also go down the Amazon bike trail to Fernridge Lake where the Canada geese live in big flocks. That's a long ride and she stops for a rest break and I always get a cookie for being good. Mom sure knows how to keep me happy.

I've been helping her with the garden, too. When mama digs a hole for a new plant, I dig one right next to it, just to help. I spend a lot of time watching mama sweat while I bask my tummy in the sunshine, too. Spring is wonderful.

I hope all you Dogsters out there are enjoying the change of seasons and the arrival of sunshine!

HAVE A BLESSED EASTER EVERYONE!!

Gonna get my picture taken...

Mama went to the pet food store today and got an appointment for me to get a fancy picture taken on Tuesday. She got me a new tee-shirt, too, but won't let me try it on, or even see it until she gets me ready for the photographer. I've never had my picture taken by anybody but mama before, so wonder what'll happen. Will they make me sit still? She says we'll have to put it on my Dogster page when we get the final copies.

Mama had today off from work and we worked on the bicycle. We got it all oiled up and serviced, ready for the sunny weather that's on it's way. I can't wait. Mom put a new pillow in my little crate in the back so I can ride in style.

We hope every pup has a great weekend.

The game of tag football!

Whoohoo! I’ve been tagged by my friends Teddy, Alexandria and Doolin, all in one day! I have a thinking cap around here somewhere so here goes…

Alright Pals! You made it here. I see you caught my foot ball pass. Here is what you should do next! Hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your team mates so they can make a touch down. 1) I like to follow mom everywhere she goes and sometimes trip her up when I get too close.
2) I stand on the bathroom scale when mama asks me to. She says I’m on a diet.
3) I’m not allowed in the living room anymore because I move all the pillows from the sofa and scatter them all over the house.
4) I won’t go poopie outside when there’s snow on the ground. I use mom’s bathroom inside on a puppy pad even though I’m 7 years old.
5) I’m a vegetarian because of my allergies and get special food.

Oh what a morning!

Things were going so well this morning. It's cold - 17 degrees - and mama got up early to get ready for her day. She turned up the furnace and it started to warm our house and then... silence. Nothing was going on. Mama was in the shower but she noticed when she was done. I was tucked in my bed with my new little warming pad - sweet - so I wasn't cold. Mama tried everything but finally had to make a trip out back to the old woodpile and start a fire in the wood stove. Then the phone calls started. Looks like our big Christmas present will be the repairs on the furnace! Mama says it could be worse - we could have no Christmas at all but she's already bought my prezzies so we're set for that for sure.

Man, she had me worried and she was so mad. She said she had everything working just fine until this happened.

We'll be warm this afternoon according to the HVAC company. And we're so glad they can come so quickly.
