My Back Surgery

Hi everyone, I've had a busy summer. My crazy jumping ways finally caught up with me and I had to have back surgery in August. I was in a lot of pain and my mommy was very worried about me. She brought me to a doggie neurologist and found out I had a herniated disc in my back. I was taking medications for a little while, but they didn't help me. Finally, I was having trouble walking so mommy rushed me to the vet for help. Mommy decided, with the doctors advice for me to have back surgery.

I was a good boy and a very good patient. All of the doctors and nurses at the vet loved me, which was a good thing, since I was there for almost two weeks! My second mommies also came to visit me because they love me so much. After two weeks at the vet, some physical therapy and lots of love and care, I came home and was walking!

Now I am good as new and the doctor said I had a speedy recovery. I have to watch my jumping ways and now I use my ramp to go on and off the bed, I am being a very good boy, but I am so hyper that I just can't help to try to jump. Mommy doesn't like that though!

Last week I had my first outing since my surgery and we went to Washington Square Park for the Dachtoberfest, I was a big hit in my pink piggy costume. I was also filmed for the news because I am such a ham that I was dancing around and barking.

What a little ham I am. Maybe I will convince mom to put up some pictures of me in my Halloweenier Dog costume!

I was a "Big Brother" this weekend!

My mommy went away and left me with two new friends who had a beautiful puppy named Frankie. He was so cute and playful and he jumped so high. I stayed at their house and showed my new little 'brother' the ropes.

Mommy says I am such a good boy because I was nice to Frankie and let him jump on me and be a puppy. I hope I showed him how to be a good dog. I missed my mom and she missed me when she was away, but I love my new friends and especially Frankie, I will see him again in June when we meet at the park.

Spring is here!!

I love spring because that means I get to go for a ton of walks! Yesterday I went to the park with my mommy and we walked on the trails, I was so pooped! At the end of the month it's the Doxie Fiesta at Washington Square Park, I can't wait to go see all of my Doxie friends. I think my mommy might make me get a bath for the special occasion.

Last month I had my first time at a babysitters house because my mommy went away. I loved it so much and I love my new aunts. They were so good to me and spoiled me rotten. My mommy says they might come to the Doxie Fiesta, I can't wait to see them again!

My first Birthday Party!

Mommy took me to my first Doxie birthday party today. I went on the train all the way down town, I was a good boy on the train, I didn't make any noise and sat in my totebag the whole time.

It was so much fun! I met a lot of doggies that looked just like me. Some were shorter and some were taller, but we were all the same. I wore my new turtleneck sweater and looked so handsome, I think all the ladies (and even a few boys) were really impressed with me.

I was being very social and mommy was proud but of course I got a little clingy to my mommy at the end because I am a big baby. I had about 4 pieces of cake too! I shared my first piece with another cute girl but I didn't have enough so I went over to the cake cutter and gave her my best cute boy look and low and behold, she slid me an extra piece. Since I am so cute, I tried this two more times and IT WORKED! I am so slick, I don't think my mommy saw this.

Now I am pooped from all the socializing I did and it is very cold out so I will go to sleep in my house.

Snowy Days

It snowed so much this weekend, I was buried in it when I tried to walk. It snowed 24 inches but I am only about 12 inches high!

I don't like the snow too much because my little feet get cold, but as soon as I'm done doing my business, I get mommy to pick me up quick!!! I had boots, but I didn't like them and would kick them off down the street.

I wore my turtleneck the first day in the snow but I tried to jump over the snow drift and my feet came out of my sweater and the whole thing wrapped around me like a leg warmer. I couldn't walk out of the snow and mommy was laughing at me so hard she couldn't help. I am a silly dog.

February 2006

I have been feeling under the weather lately. My mommy thinks my belly hurts from too many greenies but also is wondering if it's my back. Mommy said we are going to the vet tomorrow because I cry when she picked me up today.

I don't listen to mommy when she tells me not to jump on and off the bed, but I love being on the bed. Mommy bought me a ramp to use but I don't like it and I only use it when she shows me. As soon as mommy isn't looking, I go back to my jumping bean ways. I should've been a Chihuahua because I am a Mexican jumping bean. Mommy has been mad that I do that so she's been making me sleep in my own house at night instead of in bed. I don't like that because I like to snuggle when I sleep, but it is for my own good.

Mommy also isn't letting me walk up and down stairs anymore, I am getting carried like a big baby, I do like the attention though.

I got a nice parka and a turtleneck sweater for xmas from my mommy but it hasn't been cold enough to wear it, I am secretly hoping spring comes quickly because I don't like wearing a coat! Mommy laughs when she sees me in my coat because I look very cute!

I have been neglectful of my diary lately.

The weather has been so nice that I've been walking more often and am so pooped I hardly want to do anything but lay under my towel. I spent my first overnight in the doggie hotel because my mommy went away for a few days. I was so good and became friends with a pug who could jump so high! I missed my mom and I cried a little when she left, but then I got bones and layed on my blanket and was a good boy. I hope mom doesn't go away without me again, but I did have fun.

I met a friend in the park the other day, I think my mom is worried that I like boy dogs more than girl dogs. I know she loves me no matter what, I just like all dogs the same, even if they are boys like me :)

Dear Diary

I have spent a lot of time with mommy lately because she is sick. I have been a good boy snuggling with mommy. Today I made mommy laugh because I was digging in my favorite towel and didn't know she was watching. I am all snuggled up in my mommys blanket on the couch. I always get under the covers because I am small and I get cold quick!
