Arrival Story:
Annie belonged to our friend, Skye's dearly beloved Grandmother. When she died, Annie went to live with Skye's father. Sadly, he moved and Annie could no longer live there, and Skye's mother couldn't have her where she lived. Skye was devastated at the prospect of giving her up and since Skye spent lots of time here with me I agreed to keep Annie here.

Bio:
It has been hard for Annie, she has gone from only dog status to being one of a pack. She had never learned how to play with other dogs, she has it down pat now but alas, has a nasty growl while she is playing! Fortunately, my dogs have learned that it is okay, but to this day they still occasionally get nervous when they hear her, especially Quincy who is terrified of her!!!

Annie has been with me for about five years now as Skye couldn't have her either at her Mom's or her Dad's house with her. Last Fall Skye moved out to California to go to dog training school so Annie stayed here with me since she was suffering from arthritis and heart disease and was nearly blind. We were hoping she would be around until Skye got back here but old age finally won the battle and we lost Annie today.
I felt bad for Skye, Annie was the only connection back to her much loved grandmother, a really positive influence in Skye's unsettled life, and Skye could only say her goodbyes to Annie via FaceTime. Annie definitely knew it was Skye talking to her so there was a bit of closure for Skye at least.
I shall miss Annie, as will Toto. Annie had a strange relationship with Toto...she idolized him and followed him like a little lamb. Annie never learned how to play but in her own way she " played" with Toto by following along and growling and barking at him as he played. It took Toto and me a bit of time to realize she WAS playing, but one only had to watch the light come on in her eyes to see she enjoyed what she was doing. I have lots of photos of Toto playing in the field with Annie just a step behind.
Annie was by no means a friendly dog to most adults, she loved me, I think, and she loved Skye's Mom, but that was about it. Most of the girls that worked for me had at least one scar from her, their own fault usually, but, in spite of her dislike of adults, Annie never met a child she didn't love. Even if she were out in my dog yard, if anyone under the age of twenty came into my house she would immediately begin screaming at the top of her lungs and not stop till I let her in to visit with them. After they left she would run all around, sniffing everywhere to see where they had gone. As much as Annie got along with me, I was not allowed to touch her if she were sleeping with Skye or even with Julia. She was protecting them, it was her job!
Toto was with her at the end, I hope he helped her on her final journey.

Hey, Auntie said I was a diary pick today. That is a first for me! Of course, like Barney, I only had one diary and that was Aunties cut and paste generic one.
I did tell Skye about my great honor and she said she would help me write a real one this weekend. Until then, thanks for all your visits and gifts!!!
