Remember a few years ago when I was searching for a new home? Well, there were no takers, their loss, and I was still here.
Would you believe that suddenly, out of the blue, I am now living in a new home? Yup, it's true. I now have a home of my own with no other dogs to disturb my sleep, chew on my toys, eat my treats!! Sadly, no other dogs to chase, either, but I can come visit to get my chasing in.
Here's the deal...years ago Mom placed a Frenchie with a nice lady here in town. She had a big, black German Shepherd Dog who had died of old age. Thelma, the Frenchie was blind from birth. The lady felt that Thelma might like a friend so she took Tanner, remember him, the white toy poodle who is now living with Susie, Mom's niece? Well, Tanner didn't really work out well with Thelma, he never quite got into being there and he sure didn't care to play much with Thelma, so he came back here.
Thelma got old and finally she died and after a few months, her owner came back to Mom, looking for another dog. Mom suggested Harvey but the lady couldn't stand a hairless dog. So, Mom suggested me. She didn't really want to place me, she loved me dearly and really loved to watch me in the lab pen running and running especially in the snow. But, I was getting into a bit of a bitchin' contest with Angie and things like that only get worse, not better. So, for my own good, Mom decided I would be a good choice for this lady.
Off I went, and after an adjustment period I was a single dog in a single dog home and I loved it. I came down to get groomed a few weeks ago and I refused to even LOOK at Mom, I was so afraid she was going to take me back. I LIKE being an only dog... I can do whatever I want to, whenever I want. I can sleep in any chair I chose...Mom doesn't even HAVE any soft, stuffed chairs, only stiff, hard wooden ones.
If I am not hungry or just want some variety I just turn up my nose when my new Mom feeds me. Sure enough, right before my eyes something even better falls into my dish. I especially love fresh roasted chicken or grilled steak, but fried eggs and cheese will do in a pinch.
Suffice it to say, I love my new home and I ain't coming back here EVER!!! It's been nice knowing you all but I have a new home and won't be seeing you anymore, sorry! I did enjoy my time here, though and might miss you, maybe? Maybe Old Mom will write a diary for me now and again? That way you can tell how happy I am in MY new home!

This was a very weird Summer. Momsie was sick and we had to stay in the kennel most of the Summer and Tonya and Bethany took care of us. Then, later in the Summer Mom decided we had too many dogs AND the nice lady that had Thelma, one of Mom's Frenchies, was looking for a new dog because Thelma passed on to the big kennel in the sky so she decided I could go live with her. I was a bit nervous (and lonely) at first but after a while we worked out a schedule and when she brought me down for Mom to give me a haircut I was afraid she was going to leave me. I barely spoke to Mom and Toto I was so worried. But, when my haircut was finished and Mom put me down I ran right up to my new Mom and she took me back to her house.
Old Mom said it was much more peaceful around the house without me and Angie bickering. How bad is that??? She did admit she missed my happy, happy attitude lots! That's good I guess., too bad I don't miss the other dogs, hehehe!

Momsie has a new plan to bring Spring along a bit faster in this Winter of brutal records. She has decided to give us all a nice, Spring haircut!!!
First it was Angie, but since she had her show coat, I didn't think that counted. Next, it was Beanie... he looks Springie, alright, if you can see him. With all the shivering he is doing it's really hard to see his coat, hehehe! Annie was next. She got a nice, reasonable Spring haircut and she isn't cold at all...she never leaves the comfort of the warm cuddle bed under the heated fish tank.
Finally, it was my turn. A few weeks ago Momsie and Tonya were grooming me and Tonya mentioned how nice I looked with my hair beginning to get long and flowing again. Mom said she was probably going to let it grow out to be really long and flowing. Tonya asked her what she was planning to do when I ran out in all the Spring mud. At the time it was well below zero so Mom didn't think it would be an issue. Probably won't be until well into August, or maybe even September this year?
Well, the other day I sidled up to Momsie and asked for a bit of lovin'. Next I knew, she had grabbed a brush and was madly trying to dislodge some matts that had taken up residence behind my ears. Then she discovered MORE matts between my front legs and all along my belly.
And, the temperature was still well below freezing so the mud wasn't a problem.
Next morning I found myself on my way to the kennel. Sure enough, Mom popped me up on the table and got out the clippers. She used the normal "Winter" length and cut all my body down. Next, she got her scissors and actually CUT OFF MY CREST!!! I was sooo worried, what is a Chinese Crested without a Crest????
I snuck a peek into that huge mirror she has over there...whew, I still have a crest, it is a nice, neatly trimmed, shorter crest and I admit, I like it!
Like Angie, I can see again!! I am sooo happy... there is no hair stuck in my eyes making them all blurry and goopy, and I CAN SEE AGAIN!!!!
OMD, it is NOT working... I just went outside and I can see there are three inches of brand new snow already and it is still falling and supposed to give us another six inches or so!!! What is your next plan, Mom??
