Arrival Story:
After searching for a Crested puppy for MANY years, I was finally notified of an available male in NC. The handler guy (my poodle handler) and I traveled down and got both Harvey and his sister, Condi. Thus began a love affair with a new breed!!

In his first year Harvey was diagnosed with LCPD, which destroys the hip ball joint. Treatment is to saw off the hip ball and allow the leg to make a new, false joint. His was very successful and he has hardly a limp now. The following year he got "dry eye", another genetic disease in Cresteds, and ended up losing his eye. At that point I decided while I would always have a Crested, they were not something I would ever dare breed!!! Amazingly, Harvey's parents WERE health tested prior to breeding but both these conditions are difficult to test against. Oh well, we LOVE our Cresteds!!!

It seems like everyone around here is getting new homes. What about me???? I did have some nice people stop and see me whilst I was over at the kennel when Mom was camping. Tonya told them how nice I was, and sung my praises.
Mom was here when they came back to get their own dogs and again, the lady asked about me!!! Mom sung my praises, told them they could try me out, and they said they would let her know.
Did they come back to get me???? NOPE, I am still here!
Mom says people have to make up their own minds about stuff like this...she won't call and ask them about me because she says if they really want me they will call back.
I am beginning to feel terribly unwanted here!!!!!

Cold?? Not cold, FREEZING!!

You know I am hairless, right? Well, us hairless dogs aren't originally from New England, I can tell you that!!! Even with my nice fleece pajamas on there are lots of parts of my hairless body exposed to the cold and snow.
Mom has been noticing it is very, very cold in our dog room this Winter for some reason. Finally, she put a thermometer right on top of my crate. Well, last night just before bed she checked the temperature and it said 52 degrees. Yeah, there was a freezing wind blowing and this old house, built in 1794, is a bit drafty but that was even colder than she thought it would be.
Five years ago this week, (before MY time) when Mom had mostly labs and Toto and Jenny and Beanie and Ali, there was the big ice storm and we were without power for five whole days. Mom put all the labs in the dog room with the poodles and shut the door.
The labs body heat brought that room up to 58 degrees. Where the heck are all those labs when me and Barney need them??? Obviously Quincy isn't enough since it is only 52 WITH THE FURNACE RUNNING!!!!
Anyway, when Mom discovered it was 52 she immediately brought both Barney and I into the bedroom and let us sleep in her warm, toasty waterbed. Yeah, it was only 60 degrees in there but who cares when you are buried under some comforters in a warm waterbed???
I think I will get a clump of snow when I come inside tonight and put it right on that thermometer so it will be COLD in there again tonight. Right now it says 61 degrees and that will never do!! Mom's waterbed is comfy!!!

Diary pick of the day for ME!!!!

Wow, Mom just said I was THE diary pick for today. I was all excited, I was thinking I was finally fist at something other than going to bed. Nope, Barney informed me, quite bluntly, that HE was THE Diary Pick a few days ago, then Toto was bragging cuz he was also THE Diary pick since we came back.
Beanie and Annie also informed me that they were part of the court of the Diary pick as well. Annie knew about her pick cuz Mom happened to notice in when she checked the Community home page in the morning. Poor Beanie didn't know he was picked until today when Mom finally discovered some gifts that he had received.
Tis a real problem when you have no email notices to tell you that you have been picked for something. You kinda have to just keep checking the homepage every single day.
Fortunately, Mom DID check this morning so I was the star around here all day long. Didn't make much difference, Mom still left us all home and she went over to work. She did leave early though, something about the weather and no one left to come??? I dunno, I just welcomed her home after all the others, as usual!
Oh, thanks for all the visits and gifts, I DO appreciate them greatly!!!
