Arrival Story:
After searching for a Crested puppy for MANY years, I was finally notified of an available male in NC. The handler guy (my poodle handler) and I traveled down and got both Harvey and his sister, Condi. Thus began a love affair with a new breed!!

In his first year Harvey was diagnosed with LCPD, which destroys the hip ball joint. Treatment is to saw off the hip ball and allow the leg to make a new, false joint. His was very successful and he has hardly a limp now. The following year he got "dry eye", another genetic disease in Cresteds, and ended up losing his eye. At that point I decided while I would always have a Crested, they were not something I would ever dare breed!!! Amazingly, Harvey's parents WERE health tested prior to breeding but both these conditions are difficult to test against. Oh well, we LOVE our Cresteds!!!

Well, I must commend Momsie for selecting that fine photo of me for my newest avatar. Yeah, it IS a old photo, you can tell because I still had both eyes, but I must admit, it sure makes me look tanned and svelte. Too bad it isn't bigger, huh?
BTW, Mom said the nice lady that was going to take me was in yesterday and she asked about me. It seems she had some emergency surgery and with a long recovery time and the terrible Winter we've been having she just never got back to Mom about me. She is bringing her dogs in to board on Friday and asked Mom if I would be there. Mom said sure.
Hmmm, I'm pretty sure I would still like to go live with them but maybe a visit first would be best. Mom said they already have three dogs, what's one more? But, with Riley and Quincy not here now it is a lot calmer around here...maybe I should just stay here?
I am sure I can get more kayaking time in with fewer bodies to share with, and maybe I can even convince Skye or Julia to let me go camping again this Summer. Sadly, Julia is like Julie and she seems to prefer bro Barney to me. But, Skye does like me I know! We shall see, I guess.

Valentine's photos....

For some reason Dogster was accepting photos yesterday so Momsie created some Valentine photos for us. Which brings me to MY problem...if any of you really looked at my photo you would notice that Mom chose one that makes me look REALLY fat!!!
I am here to tell you that I AM NOT fat!!! Momsie won't let any of us get fat, in fact, she counts out exactly how many pieces of kibble we each get for each meal. Beanie sometimes does steal the cats food but that doesn't count, he hides that information from her, the only food I can steal is what Toto kicks out of his crate. Not much, I can guarantee!!!
Anyway, back to ME. I would like everyone to know that it is the angle of the camera that made me look that fat...if that cat hadn't been pushing up against my back it wouldn't have had that curved look. Yeah, that's right, that curved look makes me look plump! Furthermore, since it now is Winter, I have lost my beautiful dark, slate colored, tanned skin. Everyone knows that pale skin can make you look fatter, too, especially when it is on your belly.
Anyhow, fortunately, Momsie only put the photos up on Tuesday and since Valentines Day is Saturday, she will hopefully take them down on Sunday, at the latest.
I am sure when she takes my next photo I shall have at least TWO jackets, maybe even three if the temperature is as low as they said it will be, any semblance of pudge will be but an illusion!!!

I always knew I was special. Now everyone else here knows it, too! It seems that I have been picked as the Dogster Dog of the Day, whew, that is a LOT of d's!!!
Anyway, I appreciate the vote of confidence and I especially want to thank all my pals and furriends for their kind gifts and well wished on this my special day!
What did I do on my special day, you might ask?? Not much, Momsie took Toto and Angie off to a dog show and left the rest of us all home alone!!! Figures, huh????
