My Mom is the oldest kid I know! We live here in this house with just us dogs and the cats and Mom. Now, wouldn't you think she would maybe just put up a couple of wreaths on the doors and maybe even a tiny Christmas tree??
Not OUR Mom! As soon as she cleans up the remains of Thanksgiving dinner she is planning her attack...actually, this year she actually put the outside lights up in OCTOBER!!! She muttered something about not being out there in the freezing cold.
I will give her credit for not turning them on until Friday night, but still...seems a tad early for me! She says it's because she needs those outside lights to see her way home from work every night. She has them on a timer so they automatically come on at dusk. MOTHER, it must be all of 50 feet from work over to our house, and, besides, we have a porch light, ya know!
Well, today she went wild... she had the afternoon off, so she went up into the attic and dragged down all the decorations, the tree and everything else that remotely had anything to do with Christmas.
While we all helped from the comfort of the warm bed, she put the tree up and decorated it, then she hung all our stockings by the chimney with care. At least I hoped she did them with care!!!
Each one of us has a special Stocking just for us. Mine is one of those embroidered ones with a red poodle on it. I like it very much because it is HUGE and holds lots of goodies!
I am not sure what Mom plans to do for the next 25 days until Christmas actually gets here, but I am sure that tree and all those decorations will come down on December 26th!! I suppose she must get sick of them???
Her motto is to take them down before she has to dust them, BOL!!
Momma bought a Christmas yard decoration (white dog holding a package that lights up) right before she moved from California last year but hadn't been able to use it because it was in the garage along with all of the other boxes of stuff that we had brought from California. So this year, daddy found it and it has been in our kitchen window since right after Halloween - BOL. The humans went to get the mail today and daddy drove around the development scouting for a Christmas tree. Momma doesn't think it is a good idea to cut down a tree as all the property is owned by someone and they might take a dim view on having one of their trees cut down but thus far, daddy is ignoring momma. He says "they" can go cut the tree down during the night - sounds to me like it is a very bad idea!!!!!
Love you momma's motto :-)
Our tree is fake now. Mom hates that but she leaves it up too long for a real one. She said it was okay...she got some Christmas tree smelling spray AND the fake needles are already falling all over the place, BOL
Our Christmas doesnt start till the 21st December... THANKFULLY !!!
