Sunday Mom got some new photos of us playing in the new snow. She wanted to put some on our pages but figured it would be a lost cause at this point.
Well, she went ahead and added some of them, would have done more but the site was SOOOO SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWW.
My MOm is the world's luckiest person. Things always seem to work out for her, no matter what it is. Example, she will go to bed at night worrying about a BIG bill due the next day that she can't possibly pay and, next morning, some long term boarding client will come in and prepay their board, or she will have someone call to buy something she has for sale, or stuff like that, it ALWAYS works out!
She won't buy lottery tickets because she feels that is taking advantage of her natural good luck, BOL! Oh well, she may be lucky but I never called her smart.
Where was I going with this, ohhh yes, I don't know if you have heard or not, but if not, go over to the Dogster Magazine and read the first notice...SM has announced they will NOT be closing the Dogster/Catster Community as they have acquired a partner to run it.
Lots of stuff is still up in the air, but the bottom line appears to be that WE, the Community did in fact do some things right and they, the sponsors, listened.
Puffy and Coco Rose and all...we shall pawty hearty on Friday nite!!!!

Gah, this is the worst news ever!!! As I look over at my gift boxes, I realize each of these gifts represent a brand new friend I have made here on Dogster!!! It is so sad to think that in just a few weeks my whole page with all my gifts and memories will all disappear, never to be seen again.
I hate when commerce bucks up against community. We ARE the community, and have been, in our case, since 2007, when I was but a pup. We have been thru good times, great times and terrible times of loss. All the while we KNEW we had friends on here, just a keystroke away, who could help make us feel better and actually BE better!!
Sadly, the community can't exist without the commerce to pay the bills. In this case, we feel we were used by the commerce, not as a part of them but as a means to enlarge their image and profits.
In the beginning the site was organized and maintained by people, not commerce, and was a GREAT site. Enough ads were sold to keep their heads above water, but alas, as the site grew so did the expenses and they were forced to sell three years ago to commerce.
We understood, and we were promised things would only get better with more modern advances and opportunities. Somehow, they never materialized and as things broke, they remained broken, in spite of promises from commerce to make them better.
I think we all saw the writing on the wall, in spite of two great people at HQ who did all they could to keep us going. Sadly, they were also made promises by commerce, and those promises were broken as well, which left them in a terrible spot...condemned by us and condemned by their bosses in commerce. They tried, and they have lost, just as we have lost.
We hope that someday, hopefully someday SOON, commerce will understand that THEY did not create this group of wonderful people, and that without us, they will ultimately lose the reputation the name Dogster/Catster now carries and without us members, that reputation is gone and the name Dogster/Catster will mean nothing.
After all, we AREN'T a name, we are PEOPLE united to promote our lives with our pets and that can't be stopped by their shutting us out!!!

At midnight last night our power stopped. Yeah, we had a nasty, wet snowfall when we went to bed but never thought there was any potential problems from it.
Mom didn't sleep well cuz she was worried about the alarm going off in the morning, as well as whether the other girls would make it in to work, how much she was going to have to blow away with the snowblower, and, besides, it was just plain too quiet in our house.
Well, her alarm did go off and we awoke to find it was only 42 degrees in our house. Us dogs dutifully went outside, I swear, it was warmer out there, and then after we were safely back inside Mom had to go to work, not having had her morning coffee, no less.
Finally Sarah came along and she brought Mom some coffee. There wasn't much they could do...when you live in the sticks and lose your power you have no heat, no lights, AND no water so they couldn't clean too much so Sarah fed everyone and went home.
Mom went out and blew the snow, then Tonya came along. They had one huge doodle to groom. They sat and waited and waited. Mom ran home and discovered that our house had power and heat!!! But, she had to stay at work and answer the phone. Tonya went home.
At 3:45, the power finally came back. It was still 55 in the kennel!! Mom spent a hurried hour grooming the matted doodle, sent the daycare dogs home, came home and fed us and fell in bed, exhausted.
Gosh, life in the sticks can be so exciting!!! Happy new year!
