Most of us Frenchies LOVE to dress up and I was no exception!!! I wore costumes every chance I got AND I usually won the first prize if there were costume contests! In fact, in my Howlaween photo, Skye and I won first at that contest!!! Skye was only TEN years old then!!! I was older than her at 14.
One time I won $50 for Mom at a fair. I can't really remember what I was wearing but I can remember that I won!!!! They also gave her two free chicken dinners and since she had some little kid there take me into the ring she gave the chicken dinners to the kid and she kept the money. I think she got me a new bed with some of it??
My final contest was supposed to be at the National French Bulldog Specialty in Denver. I was going to be in a poodle skirt and Jones was going to be dressed in a leather jacket, jeans, etc. I was also going to be in the veterans class since I was fifteen.
Mom and Julie were driving us out there cuz Mom was going to get another poodle in Kansas, so it was me and Toto and Darrell and Jones going along. Well, the morning before they were leaving, I woke up at five in the morning and couldn't breathe. Mom gave me some medicine and finally it was time to get up so she took me to work so she could take me to the vets.
Well, I was feeling a bit better so I was running along the fence as the kennel dogs came in and out. Suddenly, I collapsed and couldn't breathe at all! My appointment wasn't until later but of course Mom rushed me up to the vets and left me there. They called her and said I was now breathing better but no one was home anymore. Mom decided the best thing was to let me go to the rainbow bridge and the vets agreed with her.
Since I was a big Frenchie poor Darrell had to wear MY poodle skirt and blouse and go with Jones in the contest. They even won 2nd place. Me and Jones would have won FIRST place!!!

I thought you might need a bit of history about moi,(I was French, ya know!!!) Anyway, let's start with my nickname, Bug-eyed rat dog.
When Mom got me she had a boyfriend (now, I warned you, this was long, long, long ago!!!) Anyway, he had one of Mom's labs and Eli went everywhere with them. In fact, Eli was at the meeting at my breeders house when Mom decided I must go home with them.
Anyway, they had some of Lee's friends coming to visit and he was talking on the phone with them. He told them that Mom had gotten a tiny white French Bulldog puppy. The girl asked him if I was one of those little bug-eyed rat dogs, and from that day on I WAS the little bug-eyed rat dog, or just rat dog for short. It is amazing how something like that can follow you thru your whole life!
Mom also called me the Jokester because I was always doing silly things that made her embarrassed, well, she thought they were to make her laugh but I KNEW they made her embarrassed. My bio talks about the hot dog I stole out of the little kid's hand while I was in the ring supposedly getting a leg for my CD. Well, Mom persisted, and at the second show was where when she called me for the recall I stood up, stared at her, then turned around, facing the wall, and sat down and refused to move. It was pretty darn funny, at least if you were not the one showing me, hehehe!!
At my next TWO shows I passed all the exercises BUT I got a score of 169.5. Unfortunately, you needed a score of 170 to qualify for a leg toward your CD. That was pretty funny, too. Not only was Mom embarrassed but the judges were, too, cuz they had already called her back into the ring with the qualifiers.
I probably should mention that was the end of my illustrious obedience career!!!
Next time I will fill you in on all my costume contests, now there is where I was a shining star!!!

I was Mom's first Frenchie back in the late 90's. She got me from a friend of hers who also had Labradors. They were having a meeting at her house and there I was! Obviously a pet puppy, which Mom didn't mind, and begging her to take me home.
Mom traded some stud fees from her lab boys for me, imagine that!!!! I became her constant companion, going kayaking, canoeing, and camping with her all the time. Of course, this was all BP which means Before Poodles, BOL!
I went on to the Rainbow bridge long before any poodles came here to live and I can't say as I missed any of them! Mom had me and a whole bunch of crazy Labradors.
I was a show dog for about TWO shows... Mom entered me in obedience and I decided to convince her that was a very bad idea. I have NEVER seen her face as red as it was at that show when I stole that kids hotdog right under the ring fence...well, maybe my turning around and facing the wall when she called me for the recall was exciting, too, hehehe!
Well, I was put on here just so Mom could come back after deleting all the others. HQ thought there might be a chance they could undelete them, but I guess too much time had passed.
Mom says she will add more photos of me, as long as they are cute ones, I don't mind!!!
