Leo loves to play Tug! he has a bunch of rope toys he keeps until they are tiny shreds!
high pitched noises, he will run in circles trying to find it!
his favorite toy is a ball of yarn my mother gave him, for a big guy, he loves small squishy toys!
Leo is a hungry boy, we don't leave food out because he will eat it and not leave any evidence!
Leo and I take long walks around the pond in our neighborhood, I always let him jump in at the end to cool off!
he can catch anything you throw in the air!
I adopted leo from a friend of mine, she was away at school and lee was living in a crate for 14+ hours a day. at the time I was working at a kennel, so he went to doggy daycare with me everyday! lee had some anxiety issues initially, he did not like to be left alone. which was completely understandable after being crated and moved around so much. he has become my very best friend, my son, my baby! he loves to snuggle and TRIES to sit in your lap, lol he is a big guy, but still enjoys being held and cuddled.
Leo and I definitely had a rough start, he tore up everything in the house, got into the trash, stole food and would bark and lunge at people on our walks. after training with him, I realized his abd behavior was mostly because he was bored and anxious, leo would follow me around and stick to me like glue. Once I was no longer working at the kennel, his behavior had gone from bad to worse.
At that point, I stopped taking everyones advice and simply got to know my dog. I spent one on one time with him, we visited different parks, took awesome car rides and visited doggy daycare about 3 times a week. overnight leo turned into an awesome guy. leo know understands commands ( sit, stay, down, big hug, and NO!) he is fully potty trained and understands when he needs to go inside his crate. overall a true cinderella story!
I have had some up's and down's with leo, from losing my apartment, to having to move several times, through it all I have managed to keep him out of a shelter and in my home. my reason for wanting to give him up is simple. Leo needs exercise, he needs a yard, or an active couple who has the time to spend with him, I am currently employed with a bank and work 40-50 hours a week, for the most part leo sits in his crate (Deja Vu of his former life) and its simply not fair. I also have RA, ( a form of arthiritis) so unfortunately, I am not able to be as active with him as I once was. because of this, leo sits at home with me alot. Leo is an active, fun loving dog and like any 2 year old, if he gets bored, he gets into trouble. As of lately, he has been acting out during our walks, barking and pulling away from me. Our Vet attributed his behavior to extra energy he is not using!
To add to my bitter sweet situation, I am currently starting a family and moving out of state! it's just not fair to my guy, to be stuck in a crate all day because I don't have the time ( or soon to come, the energy) to do things with him. Ideally I would love a young active couple, ( or single person) with a house or access to a park to adopt my special guy. It breaks my heart to give him up, because I will miss him so much! but as a true dog owner, I know I must do what is best for him.
Leo is protective of his family and children ( when he hears a baby cry, he immediatley goes over to see whats wrong) he gets along with cats ( my mom's cat has a crush on him. lol ) and plays well with other dogs! (he passed the doggy daycare evaluation and has been going to dog barks for years) he has all his shots and is due for another round by his birthday, he is registered and micro chipped.
