Arrival Story:
Our older dog Ringo had cancer and we were beginning the search for a new dog. We had gone to PetSmart to see the adoptable dogs and came across this large brown spotted dog in a crate. He was sitting and locked eyes on my husband. My husband went over to see him while my daughter and I were in the cat room. My husband cane to get me and said, "Honey, you really should see this dog." So we cant out of the cat room and saw Bear. He saw me and I just fell in love with him. He was so gorgeous! I knelt beside the crate and he just leaned against the side of it so I could pet him. He was being fostered through Four Paws Rescue, the same agency that my husband adopted Ringo through six years earlier. We talked to his foster mom and she let us bring Bear out of the crate. The calm, docile pup suddenly turned into a ball of energy! He was thrilled to be out! He was so fun and sweet and we just were enamored with him. Even though this wasn't on our "to do list" yet, we adopted Bear that day and brought him home!

Yep, on Saturday 8/31/13 I passed my Canine Good Citizen test! Mom was pretty nervous but I did just fine. Now we're on to working on the Public Access Test and that will make me a certified service dog!

8/11/2013 - Chill Day!

Today was a relaxing day! We didn't go anywhere. I vegged out on the recliner while Mom shampooed the carpets in the living room. It smells all citrus-y in there! I'm gong to have to roll around on the carpet once it's dry and get it to smell like me again.

Mom posted a pic today of us in Panera Bread the other day. See, I may be a crazy nut when I'm not wearing my vest but I behave so nicely when it's on! I know when it's time to work, for sure!

Hmmm.....the squeaky toy is calling my name. See y'all later! Gotta go toss and chew it!

8/9/2013 - difficult day for Mom

Yesterday was a really rough day for Courtney. She was off work because she'd worked the previous Sunday. When she woke up, her ears were giving her a hard time and she was dizzy. She was annoyed because she had plans to do some deep cleaning of the house and ended up spending most of the day in bed dealing with attacks. I stayed right with her. There was no way I was going to let her go through that alone. It was evening before she finally felt well enough to get up and go somewhere.

I went with my human family to the grocery store last night. I know that grocery stores are a trigger for her attacks. All the bright light, the aisles, and all of the colors mess with Mom. We were looking at gift cards when I sensed something was off. I made her go over to a chair at the pharmacy for a while until the attack passed. She was glad I was there! After that we paid for the birthday card we needed and left. Dad drove us down to Panera Bread so we could get dinner. Mom still wasn't feeling the best so we opted for getting it to go. Bummer! I was hoping we could stay out for a bit but I knew we needed to get Mom home. The people at Panera Bread asked questions about me and Mom explained what my job was. They seemed impressed! Well honestly, I am a pretty cool dog. Who wouldn't be impressed with cute little me! LOL! Okay, a 68 pound dog isn't all that little but I really am cute. We got home and the people ate dinner. Then they went to bed.

This morning Mom seems so much better! I hope that today will be a good day for her. We get to go to my favorite place, PetSmart, this afternoon for Week 3 of Advanced Training. I hope we do something fun today!
