Arrival Story:
I got Pierre for my 10th birthday in 1990. We got him from the pound. He was the best dog of all time. He was my best friend. Every time I cried he would look at me with his big brown eyes and lick my tears. He would stay by my side until he knew I was okay. He was never bad. We always called him our angel dog. The day before he died, I knew we had to put him to sleep. It was the worst and hardest decision of my life. How do you decide to kill your best friend? That night, my best friend and I took him for one last walk around the dog park. He was so happy and so carefree looking, just smelling everything. I took the day of his death off of work to be with him. We hung out at our house, I just pet him and breathed in his scent. I took a bunch of pictures of him when he was outside smelling the air. The ride to the vet was the worst ride I have ever been on. I clung to him. I was holding him as he took his last breath. He died October 26, 2004 at the age of 15 1/2. I will miss him forever.
