Arrival Story: Sweetie was adopted from local SPCA 6 months ago. I frequently volunteer at local shelter. I came across a poor neglected dog with the kennel name of Duckie. She had a complete loss of hair on her back and her skin (photo below) looked like she had been burned which was caused by flea infestation. The shelter Vet gave her little chance of hair regrowth.
I felt so sorry for her and would return several times a week to walk her. She stayed at the kennel for 3 months - because she looked so odd, no one wanted to adopt her. Feeling sorry for her, we fostered her for several weeks. Our other cats and dogs accepted her and she became one of the family. We then decided to adopt her at which time I began rubbing her back twice daily with Aloe for sunburn and had seen on the internet that Emu shampoo was reputed to grow hair so I weekly bathed her in this shampoo. After 3 mos. of TLC, her hair has fully regrown which makes her look larger than she actually is. She is super-intelligent and has learned to pull a cart with our two Poms who have become her constant buddies. We also changed her name to Sweetie to reflect her loving disposition.
