May 1, 2013- No more pain med and three weeks of pred to go!

Reilly is all finished with his pain med and doesn't seem to be in any pain at all =) And three more weeks of his prednisone and he will be med-free. Hopefully soon this (ahem, PREVENTABLE) heartworm catastrophe will be behind him.

April 27, 2013- First day post-injections

This is Reilly after he came home last night... funky haircut and all! So happy his injections are done! He has to stay on the Prednisone for another month and then he will be tested for heart worm again, at which point he should be negative. His vet said she's never has a case of positive heart worm after an animal has gone through such an intense regimen to get rid of them.

He is on Tramadol for pain again. The spots are very sore-- the medication was injected into his lower back muscle.

We are so proud of him. He is a total trouper!!

April 25, 2013- Home from his second Immiticide treatment!

The Bear is home for the night! His vet said he did really well. He's on his bed fast asleep, knocked out from his painkillers. Tomorrow we do this all over again and it will be his last injection! Whew!

April 25, 2013- Second Immiticide treatment

The Bear is at the vet for his second heartworm injection.

He has gained sixteen pounds!! Damn Prednisone! At least it is healthy weight and not junk food/treat weight. But we will be cutting back on his breakfast and dinner for sure, especially since he can't exercise until a month after the shots are all done.

April 14, 2013- Did somebody say supper?

Someone whose name rhymes with "Smiley" comes downstairs for his evening noms 99% of the time without having to be called =)

April 12, 2013- The fur is a-changin'/Going downstairs for water

Reilly's fur is getting longer and wavier, especially around his mane area! He looks even more handsome!

He also feels much more comfortable going downstairs. He goes downstairs on his own to get water.

April 6, 2013- Three months!

Happy three-month Gotcha Day anniversary, Mr. Bear!

April 4, 2013- He took a treat from my hand today!!

3-30-13- Guarding the house!

Reilly has been very busy all day today! It was a beautiful day a lot of people were outside, and he was busy guarding the house against kids of all sizes and bicycles and skateboards and cars, never mind watching the birds with Theo. We doubt he has ever even seen a bike or skateboard before today. He's a good boy =)
