We adopted Colt July 30th of 2013. It was unexpected. A family member was moving and couldn't keep Colt, and they didn't want to bring him to the humane society, they wanted him with a good family! We already have a 14 year old Yellow Lab, named Emma. She is quite slow due to arthritis and can't hear anymore. She is the most loyal and affectionate dog we've ever had! She is wonderful in every way. Very good with our 3 daughters who have enjoyed growing up with her. We thought adding Colt to our family might help Emma as well, keeping her company and giving her a sense of comfort. Although Colt is very lovable and playful and good with children, he is very dominant and stubborn. We thought this may be because he wasn't neutered. He also started marking his territory in the house more often! So we got him neutered. Hoping it would help. That was three weeks ago! Colt continues to both pee and poop in the house when we are gone. If we are gone all day because we work or gone for an hour, when we return, there is a mess waiting. Every morning before work, my husband walks both dogs. They do their business multiple times...and we praise them when they do so! We are a fun loving family and spend a lot of time belly rubbing Colt and playing with him with all his toys! He sleeps in our bedroom on the floor every night. When we leave for work, we close all the doors and Colt can go in the living room and kitchen. We put one of my husbands sweatshirts on the floor in the kitchen and we even leave music on so he doesn't feel alone. Sometimes he'll go three or four days in a row with NO ACCIDENTS! But then, by day four, he has pee'd or pooped or BOTH! We don't understand it! And we don't want have our house destroyed or smelling with pet odors. I don't know what to do anymore. We love him but all the messes are getting too frustrating to deal with! He's almost 3! When is this going to stop??? I'd appreciate ANY FEEDBACK PLEASE!!!!!
