Snow Day

Well just when you think spring should be here, and it is April 11 after all, you get another snow day.

We had wind and snow, and then blowing snow and then more wind and snow. Daddy tried to get to work this morning and only made it to the main road when he encountered somebody stuck. So he helped get them unstuck. And then somebody coming behind that person got stuck, so he helped unstuck (is unstuck even a work?) that person as well. He decided to turn around and come home. The highway was also apparently ice covered with large drifts.

The peeps didn't do much today at all. I went on a short walk with mom this morning and chased a weasel into the garbage can. This afternoon daddy and I went on a nice long walk. The snow and wind are dying down so tomorrow I will help mom dig out her truck. First I might have to help dad dig out the car, though. I don't think mom should have cut my toenails with all this digging I will need to do.

Hope spring is finally coming to some of my pals!

Well,Buddy it started snowing here at dinner time. We have some wind but nothing like earlier this week. Thank goodness the snow is fine. It was 32 at lunch time. Now it is 29 and falling. The wind is out of the NE..that is always Cold!
When the front looped around it was suppose to miss us....
NOT! If it gets to stupid in the twin cities, no.1 child, the son, will have to stay home and not drive to ND tomorrow....
Just have to see how it goes! They were predicting the twin cities to get a major spring dump! Hus,mazy

Flicka, mom is gonna have to research this solar flare. She hadn't heard about it before! Thanks for the heads up.

It is good daddy stayed home yesterday. A semi jack-knifed on the highway in the morning and it took a while to clean it up. By about 2:30 p.m. the blowing snow had ended and it was warming up. Daddy took the tractor out at 3:00 p.m. and worked for close to 2 hours opening up the road, and the driveway. Mom will just have a bit of cleanup where the tractor couldn't get to.

Sure hope we have a slow melt as we have so much snow and now we have predictions for above average flooding this year.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Buddy Mum... the flares are normal stuff that happens all the time... It is the thing the astronauts especially have to be shielded from.

Also known as Mass Coronal Ejections ,MCE's

When they reach Earth they are the thing that disrupts radio and satalite communications etc.

Space Weather dot com it the place to read if you are really interested.

Space Weather.com

I am sure you have heard about them... just maybe in a different context... mostly we here when communications get messed up.

We finally have had a little rain... but will still be in deep drought. Ironic isnt it !

Glad you were able to get some snow cleared.

Duh, yes Flicka, mom has heard about MCE's, she just hadn't heard of them being called solar flares. The MCE's sometimes affect daddy's work and this can be a problem. We will have to be on the lookout for the Northern Lights this weekend as the MCE's can cause those.

Mom just finished shoveling what daddy couldn't do with the tractor. I helped by digging holes and knocking the snow back onto the area she had just cleaned!

Today is the first day it actually smells like spring outside. Things are getting very slushy. Now for a slow melt or the flooding could be worse than what we had in 2011 and that was very bad.

Bit too far south here..(but they DO occor rarely) but I have seen them in the UK.

Glad you are starting to get a reprieve !!

Storm rolling in here( we are sad) Was quick trip to Grandsons confirmation, dinner and back home. Preparing for storm to start tonight. Gpa is moving cattle around for protection.
Got home at 4,the sun has disappeared, clouds building and wind is really coming up....Son is driving back to twin cities now to get out of here, before it hits! He has his quarter of beef
we delivered today.

Anniversary plans with kids and grand-kids cancelled...
By morning, we may not be able to see the barns. Maybe a 100 feet away? Hope it misses...they are talking stupid! Like 12 inches....Spent probably 20 of the 40 years in barns with livestock. Should be used to spoiled anniversaries around here. (HeHe)
Hope none calf so Gpa can stay inside with us. We will celebrate quietly. Gma decided to make crab-shrimp seafood pasta since she has to cook. Brought chocolate cake home from Jaxcen's house. We have fresh strawberries. Maybe we can curl up and watch a movie together. Daughter gave us a lovely bottle of wine to bring home.
Hope you aren't in on this new mess of ucky weather??????
Hugs and kisses,mazy

Mazy, the storm missed us yesterday but the eastern side of our province was hammered. The roads along the border with Alberta were closed due to ice, snow packs and accidents.

Yes, we know about calving time and we hope grandpa hasn't had to deal with any during the storm you are having. Our neighbor has lost several calves due to the cold, poor little ones get hypothermia and he has lost some of cows to the coyotes and wolves and the eagles that are always around during calving season.

It is warm today and there appears to be some melting going on today.

Apparently the Northern Lights should be fantastic tonight and daddy will try to get a picture!
