The Super Amazing Adventures of Jack

Poor Mr. Jackson.

Jack had one of his dog buddies over last Monday and they ran around in the yard for most of the afternoon. He was limping slightly that night, which continued for most of the week, slowly improving. He would be slightly stiff when he got up from lying down for a while, and we just figured he had pulled something. We were trying to take it easy with him, but that's not so easy with a border collie (they want to GO GO GO!)

Yesterday after we got home we were playing fetch in the yard and he came back with the ball whimpering and not wanting to put any weight on his foot. So we took him to the vet and they checked him over and sent him home with painkillers and strict instructions for NO fetch and he must be on a leash at all times outside, at least for a week. They want us to keep an eye on him and if his meds don't help within a week or so, they will have to sedate him and do x-rays. The vet thinks it may be a partially torn ACL. Ow! So far he's being pretty good about it, but it's sad to see your border collie not even attempt to go get his ball to play. Poor buddy.

Please help get the word out. Permission to cross post to any and all lists granted.

Due to Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast region, the Louisiana SPCA moved all animals out of their shelter to the Houston SPCA. Monetary
donations are needed to help care for the over 260 extra animals in Houston's shelters and to help the Louisiana SPCA respond to the needs
of the animals still in the area.

Monetary Donations are accepted via Houston SPCA site at https://www.SPCAHouston.org

AKC's Hurricane Relief Efforts are working through the local dog clubs and due to PAWSitive Impact Agility long standing working relationship
with the Houston Kennel Club (hosting the Reliant World Series of Dog Shows Agility Trials) PAWSitive Impact Agility is working with the
Houston Kennel Club and AKC with Hurricane relief for the animals affected by this disaster by:

1. Getting the word out.

2. Acting as a collection point and delivery service for local supply donations.

Map to our agility training center can be found on our website at _https://www.pawsitiveimpact.com_ . Any questions about PAWSitive Impact Agility efforts can be directed to Penny Winegartner, at 281-692-9053.

In addition local area folks are being asked to take in pets of evacuees who are unable to take their pets into shelters or hotels with them.
The Houston Kennel Club is organizing that effort. If you are in the Greater Houston Area and can take in any pets please send me your
contact information, the limitations on what you can accept and care for. Be aware that whatever animals taken in may be in poor health or
have bad temperament and there is some or great risk in doing this. These animals will be sight unseen basically.

Lastly, but not least is the need for supplies by the Houston SPCA. They are asking local residents to help by bringing by donations of:

so I'm going to doggie camp next weekend while Mom & Dad are going to Uncle Sean's graduation. Which meant that I had to go to the vet's to get my shots updated. I was a good boy, but the vet said I'm a little fat (66 pounds!). I don't understand what happened-I only attempt to eat anything that someone else is eating! And mommy said I have whipworms and that i'm going to have to take some medicine.

Hopefully next week will be better-I get to go on hikes and pool swims and make friends with other doggies at camp!

mom decided to make a list of all the things i know how to do:
sit
down
up
off
woof (bark on command)
jack in the box (go in my crate)
stay (sometimes)
enough
leave it
kisses
hug
shake/ "be a gentleman" (kiss your hand)
high five/other side
fetch
get your toy
"kill it" (shake my toy back and forth)
take a drink
eat your dinner
catch it (usually for a treat)
find the toy
get daddy
wake daddy up

wow, i know a lot of stuff!

dad says mom is going away next week and that i will have him all to myself. mom says she's going to visit grandma and emily but i can't come because dogs aren't allowed on the bus. not fair. i want to see emily! but mom says that i can go visit her in a few weeks. i miss my emily. and having a backyard to run in! and playing with grandpa! soon, though. at least it is getting warm outside and our backyard is getting to be not so muddy. i don't like stepping in mud.

my tummy is bothering me... i threw up yesterday (almost on mom's computer!) and have the runs. thankfully mom and dad are being super nice and mom made me rice yesterday. i was sleeping on the couch a little bit ago and mom tucked me in with a blanket and pillow. very comfy. so now i'm sleeping next to her and telling her what to write telepathically.

mom said the easter bunny came this weekend... i didn't see any bunnies! but i did get a new stuffed hippo and a greenie bone and another big bone (which is what mom said made my tummy upset). mom used to have a bunny and i definitely didn't see anything like that coming into my house!

mom decided to play one of her favorite games, which i hate, called "puppy parlor." she said i needed a haircut and proceeded to trim off my feet fur (she said i looked like a hobbit, but i like it), and-the biggest indignity-my butt fur! she said when she was done that i looked like i had back legs again... but sheesh! can't she leave me alone? and then she trimmed my nails-at this point, i was mr. wiggles 'cause i was getting impatient. but i did get a big bacon & cheese bone when i was done, so i guess it was kinda worth it.

my goal for today is to drive her nuts-she went to bed at like 3, and i woke her up at 6 to take me out! hahaha!!! i wasn't going to let her sleep until 9 or 10, like i usually do.

and another thing-i can hear that thing that they call "the frog" jumping around in his tank. why doesn't he have to get his nails trimmed or be brushed? huh?? NOT FAIR.
