We went and pulled Ke$ha 2/28/2012 from Salt Lake County Animal Services and are currently fostering her through Hearts 4 Paws Dog Rescue. She was picked up as a stray running in a field by animal control. The rescue doesn't have an actual shelter facility, they operate through foster homes. Ke$ha is currently staying at my house in Syracuse, Utah. I just have to share and brag about this girl! I am so lucky to be fostering her ♥ ♥ ♥
Meet Ke$ha - Named after the female singer! Her name is pronounced Kesh-uh. Ke$ha is about 5 months old and is a female Greyhound who weighs about 35 lbs. Her adult weight will be at most 65 lbs. Her coloring is very pretty! She's a cream color with Dilute Merle markings and is SO soft. She even has had her dew-claws removed. Beautiful, beautiful stunning girl! Ke$ha is doing GREAT! She's very playful with other dogs and people, but once you put her on the couch or bed, she turns into a sleepy cuddle bug couch potato. She's getting along great with our other 3 big older dogs and she's very curious about our cats - she attempts to play and in turn gets a whack on the nose. Sighthounds do have prey drive, so Ke$ha will need to be introduced properly to any cats or small animals in her new home. Since Ke$ha is still a puppy, she tends to play rough with young children (Examples: tugging on jackets, mouthing fingers, accidentally knocking them over, ect). I think she will do better in a home with no kids under 10 years, at least until she gets older. She's super sweet, loves attention, and to snuggle with her people! She LOVES men and is very responsive to the male gender. She responds really well to whistling calls. She's curious, attentive, and in tune to what you are doing. She's really smart and already knows the commands "sit" and "lay down" with the hand signal. She learns from watching the other dogs. She's well socialized with people and other dogs. She is doing well with leash-training, but needs a little encouragement sometimes to keep going. If she feels like her collar or leash is caught on something, she will yelp really loud and go into panic mode. Therefore, she needs to go to a home with a fenced in yard where she will never be tied up. She seems to be frightened to go down and up flights of stairs, but we think with more work and lots of encouragement, she will learn how to use the stairs with confidence. Like the typical puppy, she loves to chew, so you must provide her with her own chew toys. She loves squeaky toys and rawhide bones. She has NO aggression issues, food or otherwise. She still needs work with house-training, as expected. She has had numerous potty accidents, but it was the humans fault. She does give subtle clues that she needs to go outside. She loves running laps in the backyard throwing her toys in the air, basking in the sun, and being inside. She's a great little girl with a cute and entertaining personality. Ke$ha needs a home where she isn't the owners first dog or a home with Greyhound experience. She's NOT a dog you can just leave outside. Greyhounds are intolerant to extreme cold and heat due to having little body fat and thin fur. Sighthound puppies can be a real handful and should not be adopted out to just anyone. You must be aware of what you are getting in to, so please do your research before thinking about adopting Ke$ha! A fenced yard, lots of patience, and a firm grasp on positive training are must haves. Here are a few pointers: First of all, Ke$ha is a really sweet dog. She loves to snuggle and be with her people. She is a really high spirited fun dog. However, here are some not so pleasant things: She will eat and chew on anything and everything. She has scared us a couple times eating and chewing stuff that she’s not supposed to. She cannot be left alone unsupervised unless she is in her kennel. Even though she is 5 months old, she is NOT house-trained and will need a lot more work. We are trying our very best with getting her to go potty outside, but it’s taking a while. Ke$ha also LOVES to play and is extremely energetic. She will need adequate exercise, and probably another playful young dog companion already present in the home. Ke$ha is READY TO GO to her forever home! She got spayed and all of her vaccinations on March 28th. Ke$ha's adoption fee is $160 which includes her spay surgery, vaccinations, microchip, leash, regular collar, martingale collar for walking, a few doggie jackets, and whatever puppy food we have left. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Ke$ha, please call or text Kylie (Ke$ha's foster mom) at 801-726-6412 OR Laurie (from Hearts 4 Paws Rescue) at 801-867-9564. Any potential adopters will be asked to call or text Laurie with their email address to send an adoption application to. You can then send it back in filled out and your application will be reviewed. If it is approved, we will get back to you shortly. Thanks for reading! ♥
