On Good Friday, 2010 BJ was operated on to remove his spleen and a 5 lb. tumor that was attached to his spleen. He is recovering well from the surgery but his long term prognosis is not good. We got the biopsy results back and BJ has a high grade splenic sarcoma, which is an aggresive form of cancer. Reports say it has an 80% mortality rate within 1 year.

We have a meeting with the vet coming up Monday and we are probably going to give chemotherapy a shot as BJ seems to have a lot of fight in him. His eyes are bright and clear and he wants to play and is being like his old self. As long as he wants to fight we will support him.

I have started page dedicated to him and all dogs suffering from cancer at the National Canine Cancer Foundation. I hope to raise awareness about canine cancer and hopefully raise a good amount of money for research, etc. You can visit BJ's page at the link below and you can also donate directly to NCCF there as well.
