My exciting weekend!

Saturday morning mom and dad I got into the car and drove and drove and drove. When we finally stopped we were in York PA. It was a farm. I wasn't quite sure why we were there. I was allowed to get out of the car, but it was raining from hurricane Irene and there were two Border Collies there. I didn't mind the male BC, his name was Jazz. He was nice to me. But the other one--Peach, she didn't like me. Either that or she thought I was a sheep that she was supposed to herd. She would nip at my jowls. Not nice! Mom chuckled and said to me that Chex had to be looking down and laughing at me. Our BC friend, Megan, would always herd him--not not nip at his face!!

Then we got back into the car after a while and drove a bit more. This time it was only 20 minutes or so. When we got out the car we were in Mountville. It was still raining. We went in to the house and there was a dog there! I like dogs. Not this one so much. It was Bailey, who used to lick Checkers like he was a Checker-pop. Bailey wasn't too bad with me. I did growl at him a few times and he went away. Then I fell asleep and he started to lick my paws...but I liked that because my allergies have been bothering me and I've licking them myself! Thank you, Bailey.

I also got to meet mom's great-nephew, Aiden. There is a video on my page of our meeting. He is super cute and I was so very good when he was playing with my tail. Check it out: http://www.dogster.com/video/1170510/good_with_children. After a little bit of playing we got back in the car and drove and drove and drove. We got home about midnight Saturday night.

Sunday afternoon we got back in the car and drove again. This time a short distance to Pittsburgh. We got out of the car and I saw Beagles! We were at a Bathathon to benefit the Mid-West BREW. They all made a fuss over me and in the store we went. I like going in stores! Once I got in there, mom handed my leash over to some stranger, but I went anyway. Next thing I know, I'm being lifted. This can't be good, right? Up on a table. Uh-oh. Then it began! The man started to hug me while the woman started playing with my feet. What is going on here?? ARRROOOO! ARRROOOO! ARROOOOOO! This must stop I think. They kept going paw, after paw, after paw. They were laughing at me being such a drama king. They hadn't seen anything yet. The ears! I hate my ears being cleaned. I started thrashing and ARRROOOing to no avail. Then it was over. Or so I thought.

I was being picked up and for sure they were going to give my leash back to mom, right? Wrong! They led me through a door away from mom. I'm pretty sure I read "bathing area" on that door!!! Mom couldn't hear me carrying on back there so she thinks I behaved. I came out about 30 minutes later, much softer and smelling great--according to mom. I even got a Steelers bandana to wear for the football season.

So that was my big weekend.

I even got to go for a car ride this evening. We got in the car and drove and drove. This time only for 90 miles or so. Mom tells me we were very close to Eddie's but we couldn't stop because dad was buying a truck. When we left, it was just me and mom in the car and dad got to go in the truck all by himself. I sure hope that I get to ride in that one day soon.

I have had such a full few days, that I am exhausted! Right now I am curled up on my bed in the living room, snuggled to my pillow. ZZZZZZZzzzzzzz
