Dearest Lucy,

We miss you more and more each day.

Over the weekend we bought a plant called 'Sweet Memory' and will plant it in your honor. It is a beautiful plant with such vivid purple flowers. You would have liked it a lot.

'The Dance' is the perfect song for you and how we feel @ our little baby.

Love always,
Mommy & Daddy

It has now been a week since we said good-bye to Lucy. We both miss her terribly. It is so hard to go home and not have her waiting to greet us.

Lucy was only 18 1/2 weeks old when we had to let her go due to HOD. We made the decision in the best interest of Lucy, after exhausting our efforts to save her from this horrible disease.

My husband and I hope that more research will be done on HOD. There is not enough known about HOD or how to treat it. There are lots of speculations. We know that Lucy's was not nutrition related and I say that b/c she was always on 23% protein or lower. I even dropped her down to 20% when she was diagnosed with HOD.

Rest in peace sweet baby!! Mommy and Daddy have you forever in our hearts. We love you!

Today, May 9th, we had to say good-bye to Lucy. We lost her to HOD - she had a very serious case. We are unsure what caused it. As any of you know that have dealt or heard of HOD, it is extremely painful and heartbreaking to see. We exhausted every effort to get Lucy comfortable and walking again. This weekend it got so painful that every time she would even try to move she would scream in pain. Given that, this was the only right thing to do for Lucy and to let her be at peace.

Lucy, Mommy and Daddy love you and will miss you lots. We cherrish the 2 short months you lived with us. We will miss everything about you and your silly antics and those velvety soft ears that you use to toss around. Somehow you fit right into our family and home as if you'd always been with us. We know you were meant to have us as parents and we loved every minute you shared with us. You will always have a special place in our hearts.

Love, hugs and kisses always,
Mommy & Daddy
