With all that's been going on with Roscoe being sick for so long and now so many home projects starting I have felt very neglected as far as getting attention and rightfully so however Momma said it's my week to shine! My day started with my yummy breakfast then a warm bath, brushing and nail trim which makes me feel not only good but pretty as well. Then I got to play in the yard and Momma hid treats all over for me to search and destroy! I even found a new squeeky toy so I laid down and squeeked and squeeked until I couldn't squeek no more;) I am resting on my orthopedic bed right in front of the patio door in the living room right now and the sun is warming my joints. Awwww this is the life. Thanks Momma♥ After she takes her nap we are going to the woods to sniff bunny tracks and deer tracks. The bears are out now so we must be careful but I can smell them before we see them so will be sure and let Momma know when something is amiss. They usually don't bother us but after the long winter nap and their brand new babies along side of them they get a little nasty. I miss the snow alot but it's still going to be a great day sniffing and plowing over and under brush.
Now about daddy in the dog house: BOL! We all love daddy but sometimes he does silly things without thinking. He was going to polish his military boots last night and always lights the black polish on fire to melt it first as it gives his boots a most beautiful shine after they're polished and buffed by hand with a boar bristle brush and you can even see your face reflected in them. Daddy is furry proud of his uniform and boots. Thanks Daddy for keeping us safe and free for 25 yrs♥ WELL...He was going to do this poilish waxing in the kitchen and Momma asked him to please do it outside as it really stinks so he goes out to the deck lights it and it was too windy and it flamed really high! Not thinking to put the metal cover back on he blew it to put the fire out and OMD We now have black polish all over the gray vinyl siding right next to the door.* THUNK* I mean not a little area either as it went everywhere. Momma said why did you put it on the railing instead of the deck floor but I can't tell you what else was said. BOL! Momma said...You are soooooooo in the doghouse buster but I'll let you out in the morning to clean up your mess. He has tried putting a brown paper bag with the hot iron on it, used goo-gone, goop hand cleaner and nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! My boy is graduating and we are so proud of him and daddy said the house will now match the black yard( Trucks of top soil will be all over the yard because my pawrents wanted a whole new yard but Momma didn't think his comment was funny at all. Then she said she was sorry and thanked hiom for all the yrs of service and that he took such pride in his highly polished boots. Hoomans can be so silly sometimes but also fast to love and forget things that really don't matter in the long run like it's just siding right?:) Shhhhh I think she also let him out of the doghouse so he can get all the projects finished but you sure didn't hear that from me* clamps paw over mouth*
Well pals enjoy your day and I am getting ready to enjoy my special time in the woods with Momma,
Hugs and Love,

With Thanksgiving fast approaching I want to write about something I'm thankful for today!
As lots of you know I have had a problem with my Hip Dysplasia then had surgery on my soft palate so really have been stuck in the house for several months only going out in the yard and for short very slow walks for which I am thankful for BUT TODAY...Momma took me to the woods and we stopped by Lexi's place of rest and continued on the paths that we all used to run on. I saw 2 bunnies and 3 squirrels but paid them no attention as I was busy sniffing the good smelling leaves on the ground where the deer walk. It's hunting season here so we couldn't go as far deep into the woods as we would have liked but after the season is over Momma said we can go far like we did in the past. THEN as we were driving home we wnet right past my house...YEP! Right past it and after a mile we turned right and I knew where we were going and started dancing around in the back seat! We were heading to the Big Field! When we got there Momma hooked me up to a 25' tether which I'm not used to but she said I couldn't run fast like I do when I chase the deer but I was just happy being there so we walked and walked and then she said..Mon GO!!! I took off running and she was right behind me. We only did 300 yards rested and 300 yards back then walked one more time slowly around the whole field. OMD It was so exciting to be free and it was cold and windy just the way I love it! When we got back to the truck she massaged my hips gave me my pain meds and turned the heater on and covered me with a polar fleece blankie and we drove home. She helped me out of the truck and I climbed up on the sofa next to Daddy and slept the rest of the day. Thank You Momma for letting me play today like I have alsways done in the past. I know I can't do this everyday but I'm Thankful for today and will be most Thankful when we can go again.
Love and Hugs,

I went back for my 1 week re-check and pallet has healed nicely, hips are pain free for the most part due to my MetaCam working so well and no running. My trachea will always have the narrowing so I no longer can have Bully Sticks or hard treats but we're thankful it not not collapsing and I sure do miss my bullies and hard treats but Momma just loaded up on soft treats and I do get soft apples, bananas and she said I can have more lamb chicken cheese and for treats so it's a good trade and shhhh they really are more tasty!
Our house has been crazy busy so not as much time for dogster and Momma misses reading on her Kindle. Hu-Bro had a 3 hr photo shoot yesterday with his car, snowboarding stuff, dirt bike and was supposed to bring Roscoe but it was too wet, cold and rainy. Hu-bro was in the woods, by some really kewl bridges, along Lake Superior and even drove his car sideways on a big hill and the photographer sat on the wet rode in the rain coming down to get a perfect shot! He changed clothes so many times it was almost laughable! it was a total of 300 shots and tomorrow we get to see them all on a ginormous screen and finish the last hr of shooting. How fun! I didn't get to go because sometimes I fear bite but hu-bro still wanted one with m,e so the photographer is going to come to our house and do a couple. Pawesome Huh?
We had Snow this morning and I can;t wait for the deep snow so I can teach Roscoe how to snow ckimb but Shhhh I don't think he can make it as far as me without getting cold. I have a double coat of fur so even -30 doesn't bother me as long as I keep moving.
Well I've rambled enough si will close and curl up in my crate where my ortho bed is.
Good Night Pals

I got up this morning and even wagged my tail as I waited patiently for my breakfast. It was wonderful that my Pawrents spoiled me with soft eggies, melted cheese and hot dogs but hey it wasn't enough! I'm a big girl at 70+ lbs so need FOOD! Today I walked somewhat faster next to Momma and NO Limping and I saw her smile when she stopped and petted my hips cuzz she's so happy the MetaCam is working. For dinner I got to eat more! YIPPEEE!! I got 1/2 of my normal amount of kibble soaked in organic chicken broth and mixed with 1 cup of carrots and green beans which I ate all of. The swelling in my palate has gone down considerably and it didn't hurt when Momma checked it because she waited until my pain meds kicked in. I'm on the mend and will soon be back to my old self but I heard Momma tell the boys...Monnie isn't allowed to run anymore..she can walk fast and trot but NO RUNNING EVER. Whatever will I do when all the snow and wind comes as it's my favorite time to run and I don't really understand what a blown out hip means. Hmmmmm maybe I can still go snow climbing as I really love that..not as well as running like the wind but I'm willing to settle for at least being out in the snow I love! I'm pleased to being so spoiled and have enjoyed laying in the warm sun and snuggling with Momma and Daddy. Poor Roscoe just keeps bouncing on me and licking my ears clean cuzz he doesn't understand I can't get up and chase him but he'll learn as he's a smart boy. He keeps sniffing my mouth but I just lay still and let him. I think he smells the medicine and thinks of it as food the little Beastie Boy loves to eat you know!
Thanks Again for all the love prayers and support it means the world to me and I couldn't have done it without your help.
Love you all bunches,

First my family and I want to thank all our furiends whom sent us the beautiful balloons and it was wonderful that you thought of us..We love all our Furiends here on Dogster/Catster and I hope we didn't forget any of you and if we did we sure do apologize for that.
I had a medical procedure done yesterday but am now home and on pain meds which I will be on the rest of my life. It's in liquid form and Momma just squirts in into my cheek. I was very good at the hospital and stood perfectly still for my exam which made My Momma so proud but then again I love Doc Don as much as he loves me. I slept most of the night but woke up once making choking sounds and of course Momma was right there, rubbed my neck gently until I fell back to sleep. I was able to eat my kibble this AM which is a good sign even tho it took me awhile but hey you can't keep a good pup down right? Everyone said I am a sweet gurl which again makes Momma proud. My daddy rode home in the back seat with me all the way home Momma said to prevent me from falling off the seat but I of course don't remember it as I was so groggy. Thanks Daddy♥
Thank you all for the many prayers and healing thoughts! It worked and I am pleased to call you furind♥ You all mean the world to me and my family as well.
I am off to lay in the sun shining through the patio door and sleep the afternoon away so guess Momma has to entertain Roscoe today! I wish her luck cuzz she will need it!BOL!

My Momma received this from a dear dogster friend and thinks it's just too good not to share so hear it is...Keep kleenex ready:::
They told me the big black Lab's name was Reggie, as I looked at him lying in his pen. The shelter was clean, no-kill, and the people really friendly.
I'd only been in the area for six months, but everywhere I went in the small college town, people were welcoming and open. Everyone waves when you pass them on the street.
But something was still missing as I attempted to settle in to my new life here, and I thought a dog couldn't hurt. Give me someone to talk to. And I had just seen Reggie's advertisement on the local news. The shelter said they had received numerous calls right after, but they said the people who had come down to see him just didn't look like "Lab people," whatever that meant. They must've thought I did.
But at first, I thought the shelter had misjudged me in giving me Reggie and his things, which consisted of a dog pad, bag of toys almost all of which were brand new tennis balls, his dishes and a sealed letter from his previous owner.
See, Reggie and I didn't really hit it off when we got home. We struggled for two weeks (which is how long the shelter told me to give him to adjust to his new home). Maybe it was the fact that I was trying to adjust, too. Maybe we were too much alike.
I saw the sealed envelope. I had completely forgotten about that. "Okay, Reggie," I said out loud, "let's see if your previous owner has any advice."
To Whomever Gets My Dog:
Well, I can't say that I'm happy you're reading this, a letter I told the shelter could only be opened by Reggie's new owner. I'm not even happy writing it. He knew something was different.
So let me tell you about my Lab in the hopes that it will help you bond with him and he with you.
First, he loves tennis balls. The more the merrier. Sometimes I think he's part squirrel, the way he hoards them. He usually always has two in his mouth, and he tries to get a third in there. Hasn't done it yet. Doesn't matter where you throw them, he'll bound after them, so be careful. Don't do it by any roads.
Next, commands. Reggie knows the obvious ones ---"sit," "stay," "come," "heel."
He knows hand signals, too: He knows "ball" and "food" and "bone" and "treat" like nobody's business.
Feeding schedule: twice a day, regular store-bought stuff; the shelter has the brand.
He's up on his shots. Be forewarned: Reggie hates the vet. Good luck getting him in the car. I don't know how he knows when it's time to go to the vet, but he knows.
Finally, give him some time. It's only been Reggie and me for his whole life. He's gone everywhere with me, so please include him on your daily car rides if you can. He sits well in the backseat, and he doesn't bark or complain. He just loves to be around people, and me most especially.
And that's why I need to share one more bit of info with you...His name's not Reggie. He's a smart dog, he'll get used to it and will respond to it, of that I have no doubt. But I just couldn't bear to give them his real name. But if someone is reading this ... well it means that his new owner should know his real name. His real name is "Tank." Because, that is what I drive.
I told the shelter that they couldn't make "Reggie" available for adoption until they received word from my company commander. You see, my parents are gone, I have no siblings, no one I could've left Tank with ... and it was my only real request of the Army upon my deployment to Iraq, that they make one phone call to the shelter ... in the "event" ... to tell them that Tank could be put up for adoption. Luckily, my CO is a dog-guy, too, and he knew where my platoon was headed. He said he'd do it personally. And if you're reading this, then he made good on his word.
Tank has been my family for the last six years, almost as long as the Army has been my family. And now I hope and pray that you make him part of your family, too, and that he will adjust and come to love you the same way he loved me.
If I have to give up Tank to keep those terrible people from coming to the US I am glad to have done so. He is my example of service and of love. I hope I honored him by my service to my country and comrades.
All right, that's enough. I deploy this evening and have to drop this letter off at the shelter. Maybe I'll peek in on him and see if he finally got that third tennis ball in his mouth.
Good luck with Tank. Give him a good home, and give him an extra kiss goodnight - every night - from me.
____________ _________ _________ _______
I folded the letter and slipped it back in the envelope. Sure, I had heard of Paul Mallory, everyone in town knew him, even new people like me. Local kid, killed in Iraq a few months ago and posthumously earning the Silver Star when he gave his life to save three buddies. Flags had been at half-mast all summer.
I leaned forward in my chair and rested my elbows on my knees, staring at the dog.
"Hey, Tank," I said quietly.
The dog's head whipped up, his ears cocked and his eyes bright.
He was instantly on his feet, his nails clicking on the hardwood floor. He sat in front of me, his head tilted, searching for the name he hadn't heard in months. "Tank," I whispered.
His tail swished.
I kept whispering his name, over and over, and each time, his ears lowered, his eyes softened, and his posture relaxed as a wave of contentment just seemed to flood him. I stroked his ears, rubbed his shoulders, buried my face into his scruff and hugged him.
"It's me now, Tank, just you and me. Your old pal gave you to me." Tank reached up and licked my cheek.
"So whatdaya say we play some ball?" His ears perked again.
"Yeah? Ball? You like that? Ball?"
Tank tore from my hands and disappeared into the next room. And when he came back, he had three tennis balls in his mouth.
If you can read this without getting a lump in your throat or a tear in your eye, you just ain't right.
A veteran is someone who, at one point, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including their life.'
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country
who no longer understand it.
"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him."

Yesterday was my Birthday and what a pawfect day it was! It started out by Momma giving me my kibble with a scrambled egg on top which I rarely ever get so I thought Hmmmmm she's going to spoil me! Then after my tummy settled she took me to our fenced yard..WITHOUT Roscoe! Whooohooo playtime with just Momma and Me was so much fun altho I do love my brofur he can get somewhat annoying at times and then I have to put him in his place! BOL! But today was MY DAY!!! When we went back into the house I got a 12" bully stick and enjoyed every bite because Roscoe was outside with his so I chewed mine very slow and totally loved it as Momma sang Happy Birthday to me;) Shhh she doesn't sing very well but it was still wonderful for her to sing to me on my special day. Then my Boys woke up and ran through the house with me throwing tiny pieces of cheese everywhere as they ran and laughed. I got so excited I nearly fell over several times as I couldn't make a couple turns going that fast! They then gave me lots and lots of huggies and scritches;) I just love my Boys! Daddy is more quiet and sat and watched all the goings on and then called me over and hugged me hard and said I was such a beautiful girl and he loves me;) He patted the cushion next to him and I leaped up on the sofa and snuggled with him♥
When I signed onto dogster which is another place I love, I saw my page full of gifts, pmailbox was overflowing and groups full of posts all for ME! What treasured friends I have. Each and everyone of you hold a special place in my life and I am thankful for all of you♥ You have all made my Birthday extra special and of course your love and friendship is the best gift of all♥ Many Groups served cake, ice cream and special foods in honor of my birthday which was so thoughtful of all the admins and my furiends.
I will try to get my thank You's out today but it may take some time as I am overwhelmed by all the attention I received.
OMD I also am DOTD at PDPC! How exciting to feel extra special 2 days in a row. Thank You PDPC Furiends!
Love You All Bunche,
