I gave Mom a BIG scare this afternoon on my walk. One of the farms next to the Nature Preserve has horses, and one of them was in the field next to road into the Preserve today. Well, I started out my off lead hike just like usual- went about halfway down the road AWAY from the field where she was- and then suddenly decided she was IRRESISTABLE. I dashed over and jumped the fence to play with her. Mom immediately went back to try to help me... NO LUCK. I would NOT listen. I was learning to herd, Mom says... but almost learned the VERY hard way when she started bucking and trying to kick at me a few times. I was staring her down whenever I could, and barking my head off at her, dodging hooves and staying out of the way when she would lay down to roll on her back... you name it. It took Mom half an hour to get me away from her, and she THINKS I got a little kick to the jaw just before that. I'm eating and acting just fine so she knows I'm OK. Unfortunately, until they decide to move her again, I think my freedom days at the Preserve are over. Mom is NOT happy with me.
