First I want to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes! I was in the mountains so I didn't get them until I got home, but know that I really appreciate knowing all my pup pals were thinking of me:) Now, onto what's been happening since my last post.
We went to the mountains Wednesday after mom and dad got done at an auction. It was around supper time when we got there and mom and dad were so tired from being at the auction all day, that we just chilled for the night, but it was a good thing cause that's when our luck was running amuck.
So Thursday morning I'm sitting with mom and Chloe on the front porch. It was warm, but not so hot that you couldn't enjoy it yet so I was just taking it all in while mom was reading. A little while later dad got up and came out to join us. It started to get too warm to be outside so we decided to go in... at least that's what we thought. When mom went to go in the door was locked! I guess when dad opened up the cabin the day before he didn't unlock the bottom door knob lock so we got locked out. Of course, there was the whole discussion of who's fault it was, but you know how that goes. Anyway, mom, Chloe and I went up to Clair's to get the key that he has. We gave him and Randy a key just in case they ever need to get in the cabin when we're not there. We walked up the hill just to find that Clair wasn't home. So back down the hill we came. After a few minutes mom said she was going to walk to Randy's for the other key. You ask why didn't dad do it? Cause dad didn't have shoes on and mom had her slippers so at least she had something. Mom didn't want to walk on the country road by herself so she took me cause she knows I'm her "little protector" as she calls me:) So off mom and I went and let me tell you, it was HOT! We were almost to Randy's when I got sick. I was really panting and I know that's what made me sick. We took a little break and mom said as soon as we got to Randy's she would get me a drink... wrong! No one was home at Randy's either and he didn't have an outside spicket for me to get a drink either. At this point I'm getting a little upset and looking for water. Mom took me to the little bridge and fortunately there was some water in the creek, more than other areas. Mom doesn't like me drinking creek water, but at this point, there was no choice. I went right into the creek and laid down. Mom said I'm a very smart dog cause I knew what I needed to do. I felt so bad for mom cause she was so upset about everything she started to cry. But I gave her a kiss to let her know I was okay and we headed back to the cabin. Fortunately, about five minutes after we got back, Clair came home and we were able to get in the AC. We didn't do much the rest of the day cause it was just hotter and hotter and to tell you the truth, the next day wasn't much better.
Friday came around and I got sick in the morning. Of course mom called the vet and we had to go a long way to get my meds, but we got them. When we were getting my meds, that's when mom got the news... the barn where the horses are burned down. Yes, you heard me right, it burned down. Now before you get too upset, the horses are all okay. The neighbor heard them making noise and went to check on them and they were all in their paddocks and he put them in the pasture so they could get away from the fire, but everything was lost. Mom went to see it when we got back and she said it was sad because everything was gone:( That made mom pretty sad and she said that if she didn't have bad luck she wouldn't have any luck at all. Mom and I did our best to make each other feel good the rest of the day.
Saturday was my birthday and another hot day. It seemed like each day got hotter and hotter and you couldn't do anything. I was still feeling a little sick, but mom did take us for a little ride just so we could get out. I wasn't allowed to have my birthday treats though cause of being sick, but mom promised once I didn't get sick for a few days, she would give me my goodies... I can't wait! Mom did pamper me all day though so I was definitely feeling my special day:) Randy and Sharon did come to visit a little and it was nice to have the company.
Sunday mom and dad cut the grass, but mom made us stay inside cause of the heat and she didn't want me to get sick again since I hadn't vomitted since Saturday morning. Mom and dad were laughing at me cause I would go from window to window standing on the bed, chairs, and sofa watching them outside. I barked a few times to let them know I wasn't happy about being stuck inside, but it didn't do me any good cause they wouldn't let me out. It did cool off in the evening though and we all went for a Kubota ride. Mom made us ride in the back though cause she didn't want me to exert too much and get sick again. It was really nice to get out and do something since the heat kept us in most of the trip.
We came home Monday and just hung out with dad cause mom went to see the horses and barn. Unfortunately where the horses are staying now, no dogs allowed...such a stupid rule! Hopefully it's only temporary and they get the barn back up and I can go out again.
Tuesday mom let us go swimming after she got home from work... YIPEE!! It was nice and refreshing and believe it or not, I didn't once try to take Chloe's duck. Mom said I was being a good girl for not taking it. That's cause I was just so happy to be swimming I didn't want to get a time out for doing something wrong.
So that is what I've been up to. Didn't do much, but did have some excitement. I know it's going to be hot again this week so probably a lot of swimming in the forecast. BTW, we were suppose to go to a dock diving comp this weekend, but because mom is going to help clean up the barn so they can rebuild, we're not going. Not sure when we're going to Manor Care either because mom spends every night with the horses since they're upset about not being together and in a strange place. I'm sad about all that, but totally understand and I'm just happy I get to go swimmy.
I hope everyone had a good July 4th and no one got hurt.

OMD Echo and family!!! I'm very sorry to hear about you getting sick again and that the barn burnt down, but let's look at the bright side, you are getting better and thank GOD none of the horses parished in the fire. The barn can be re-built but loosing a life in such a tragic manner would have played on the human emotions for years. Does anyone know what caused the fire?
OMD! So sorry you got sick and about the fire! Glad everyone was ok.
Echo we are sooo glad no one was hurt in the fire and the horses are ok!:) Hope you are feeling better and you do not have the super hot weather for too much longer!
First off I want to say that Im sorry that I missed your Birthday,
sorry that you were feeling sick again, hope that you are feeling better now, and we can't believe that the barn burnt down, thank goodness the horses got out all ok.
Hang in there!!
