Grandma was reading a story to me the other day. It was about Blue Roses...Gma said, her life has been Blessed because she has known many Blue Roses....Gma said, we have to share this story, cuz We Know Many Blue Furs,Too!
We will Post the Blue Rose Story below and then you will understand.... 1st. let me tell you about the Blue Furs, I know right here at dogster.... They are my Pals!!!! They will know who they are, when they see this.
I know, puppers and kitties who are blind, deaf, missing teeth,
liver, cancer, diabetes and allergies up the ying-yang! I know 1 pupper who has 3 legs and 1 who has a wheelchair-cart to walk. What about the furs with all the phobias???? The ones who were abused or trapped in puppy mills or have many deep scars and fears. Some of these Blue Furs are just really, really old..like me! So Everyone, works their schedule around what I need.....It is so SAD that so few people want to Adopt Older Puppers or Kitties...Furs are Not Disposable Property but Living Creatures!
The point is: they are ALL BLUE FURS!!!!! They have Special Needs! Their Families are Special People...Those families do whatever, must be done to meet those needs. Sometimes this requires Special Fur Docs... Special tests, medicine or special food may be what they need. Sometimes, they need special items in their home or yard to meet their limitations. Whatever they need, their families find a way to take care of it! They do this because they LOVE them. They have Great Value....Sometimes things can be a Big Challenge for them....but, they Love their Humans so much, that they adapt quickly to their situation.
Below is the Blue Rose Story....
Having four visiting family members, my wife was very busy, so I offered to go to the store for her to get some needed items, which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags, detergent and Clorox. So off I went.
I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies and headed for the checkout counter, only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man who appeared to be about sixteen-years-old. I wasn't in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there. This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, "Mommy, I'm over here."
It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, "Hey Buddy, what's your name?"
"My name is Denny and I'm shopping with my mother," he responded proudly.
"Wow," I said, "that's a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Steve."
"Steve, like Stevarino?" he asked.
"Yes," I answered. "How old are you Denny?"
"How old am I now, Mommy?" he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle.
"You're fifteen-years-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by."
I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement, because he was the center of someone's attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the toy section.
Denny's mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son. She told me that most people wouldn't even look at him, much less talk to him.
I told her that it was my pleasure and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow, and pink roses in God's Garden; however, "Blue Roses" are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness. You see, Denny is a Blue Rose and if someone doesn't stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they've missed a blessing from God.
She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, "Who are you?"
Without thinking I said, "Oh, I'm probably just a dandelion, but I sure love living in God's garden."
She reached out, squeezed my hand and said, "God bless you!" and then I had tears in my eyes.
May I suggest, the next time you see a BLUE ROSE, don't turn your head and walk off. Take the time to smile and say Hello. Why? Because, by the grace of GOD, this mother or father could be you. This could be your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. What a difference a moment can mean to that person or their family.
From an old dandelion!
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
"People will forget what you said, People will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel!"
So Thank You Blue Furs for Being Who You Are! I Love Each and Everyone of You! You are All Very,Very Special!!! Never Ever Forget That! Hugs and Kisses, Baby

I LOVE YOU MOMMA BECAUSE:
Momma found me hungry and alone.
No place to call my home.
She wasn’t leavin’ me.
Crumbs ever so sweet,
She threw at my feet.
So, I followed her a ways,
That’s how, I came to stay.
My forever home, where:
I’d never know pain.
No one to beat me.
No one to mistreat me.
Lots of Love to complete me…
MY TRIBUTE TO MOMMA WHO RESCUED ME...Love Baby

It's a rainy, gray, drippy damp day.... My Gma's friend has a Westie puppy named CeCe....They sent us the the NOTE below....
Mazy laughed....But she's crazy! She went out and played in the rain with Gpa. I choose to cross my paws and only go when absolutely necessary!
This old canine citizen wants to KNOW: Where is this Weather Service???? So, I can COMPLAIN about SPRING.....Not SPRINGING on a Normal schedule??????? A couple dogster puppers are tellin' me, they are having weather that is way to HOT! We are way too, COOL.... Can't we share?????
Now that I'm so elderly: I am extremely fussy about my weather! I do not like HOT and I really HATE cold, damp, wet or windy!!!!
The Below weather service better get their ACT TOGETHER! When I find out where the Office is: I'm gonna go over there and POOP on their Sidewalk and Steps... I'M LEAVING MY POOPER BAGS AT HOME....ANY OTHER Senior Canines with me on this Protest???????
NOTE FROM WEATHER SERVICE:
Dear Weather Customer:Due to budget cuts, the downsizing of our workforce, and high demand, the season that you ordered (Spring) is on backorder. New supplies of this item are scheduled for delivery in your area beginning June 9, 2011. In an effort to make sure our customers do not go weatherless, you will continue to receive your current season (Winter) free of charge.Thank you for being a valued customer.
I mean really!!!! Just who do they think they are????? How about skipping coffee breaks, lunches and exercise time. They Could Fill the Spring Weather Orders much sooner than June.... I think they need a New CEO at the Weather Station!

It's windy, cold, rainy and 35,temperatures are falling. Changing to snow after midnight. Everything is so sloppy! Snow, slush,
waterholes and mudholes....Here we go again! The 10" between the 14-15th. shocked me! Today I need a towel every trip I make outside...
Yesterday is was sunny and 47. I spent some time outside walking around. Sunday after the grandkids left...I was outside with Gma. Mazy was following Gpa with graining chores. Sloppin' the water, mud and stinkies. I stayed on the snow where it was clean...
I think, Angel Foxie sprinkled me with angel dust....I don't know what came over me? I laid down in the snow and did pupper angels, jumped up and did my happy dance. I had Gma so tickled...I did it a couple more times.... Later that night, Art and Ritis made it REAL Tough to get up and down the stairs to do my bedtime potty.... A few minutes of insanity! I thought I was a young pupper, again! Is this HOW OLD DOGTIMERS,STARTS??
Now the old weathermen, I sure don't like those guys! Say: next 2 weeks..lots of WET! Rain, snow, snow, rain, and rain-snow mix....
Gpa said, another day or two and He will be walking like a duck!
Gma went to town with Gpa today. He did his errands at the Vet for the moo-moos.... We have 3 little babies on the bottle already! Gma did her grocery errands. Gma said, I'm not taking the good car down that mushy, muddy road... Gpa took Gma to the new cafe in town. What a surprise! We all had turkey pupperoni sticks when they came home.
I've been smelling that Roast Beef in the crockpot ALL DAY! I know, I'll be having roast beef...cuz,I'll turn my Nose up at my canned food! This having an Old Tummy, plus lots of age, gives me EXTRA PERKS! I had scrambled eggs, steak and chicken this week, too...Just Pawsome! My FurDoc says, I can have whatever I'll EAT...Something to do with how old I am???? Gma thinks, the canned stuff doesn't smell as good to my Old Nose!
She thinks that is what has made me a Fussy Eater...Don't tell Gma, but I JUST PLAIN LIKE TO EAT WHAT GPA IS EATING!!!!!
WE may have sunshine for Easter....Gpa and Gma are babysitting the cattle on Easter...Just like every other day...I WONDER if, Gma will let me put in a SPECIAL ORDER for Sunday supper??????
Hugs and Kisses to All,

Mon. and Tues. this past week we had 70 then 60 degrees. Followed by 3 days of 40's. Tons of SNOW melted...We were back to pretty dry ground! It was Awesome! Between Thurs. and Fri. the temperatures fell and the frizzle became snow. The 1" prediction for our area turned into 10" of snow....It was heavy, wet, spring, snow with lots of water in it. Sat. the snow depth condensed to about 6" with temperature of mid 40's.
On Wed. Gma had cleaned up the gas grill, the patio and the patio furniture and Gpa's cattle room. Trying to get a start on setting us up for the growing season. We had done a little raking on Mon. and Tues. The wind showed up and temps. dropped way down to: night time of 25. BBUUURRRR!
Today it was only 32 when the Grandkids and their parents arrived after church. Gma had a clean grill so outside she went to do hamburgers.... We had a nice indoor picnic of Burgers on Buns, Veggie tray, assorted chips and dips, apple slices and carmel sauce, chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. We enjoyed our lunch and spent the afternoon playing dominoes. Well, about 4p. it clouded up and here it came: More SNOW! It has been snowing for 2 plus hrs. now. The temp. is about 30. This will make ice! Everything is wet and mucky from the other snow....The flakes are really large!
Mazy just had a tubbie to rinse off all the sand and mud from following Gpa while he was graining cattle. I stayed in the yard where there was good snow cover and no mud! I decided to roll in the snow the way I did when I was young. Gma had been brushing me everytime I went out this week. Cuz, I was rolling in the brown dead grass and dragging it inside. Gma said, I must be itchy? Probably need a bath???? I've not been real perky lately. Really picky with my meals... When I am finally offered, what I feel like having, I eat! Today, I ate beef roast with kibbles. One of the grandchildren left half a burger on a homemade bun...Absolutely, I ate that, plus 1 leftover hamburger patty!
I know it's quality meat, cuz Gpa raised it, himself!!!!
The forcast is snow and rain mixed or separate: Sun. thru this Tues. Will spring ever come and stay????? I think Gma's tulips and dwarfed iris tips have been froze several times now...I don't know, if they will bloom this year or not? Yard looks kinda Funny with Gma's leaf rakes and tubs sticking out of the snowbanks. We did still have snow in the shelterbelts and very low lying areas..... Now all the corrals are very mucky....
The ranchyard is chewed up by the tractor tires. This is not good weather for those calves to be born in!
Friday morning Gpa found 1 that was born sometime between bedtime and morning. He was huge!!! Over 130 lbs. Gpa warmed him up and has been feeding him. His Momma is only a 2nd. calfer and isn't interested in raising him. She had worked a long time to have him.... So we have our 1st. bottle calf. He was so chilled he couldn't stand up for a couple days. Now he can stand up. So he is improving
Us furs had a great indoor picnic but are not impressed with the weather change...Well, I've reported...so I'm off to have my supper and take a nap! Guys are speculating on when they will get into the fields.... Of course, it will be late...already is! Looking like May! This is Crazy, crazy weather.....Hugs and Kisses, Old Baby

The temperatures this week have hung between 48 and 56...Alot of snow has melted...Now we have mudholes, slushy piles and snowbanks. Sunshine mixed with partly sunny or total overcast like today...
The corrals are defrosting and very sloppy...The smell of melting manure floats through the air! If, I was still a young pupper: I'd be in those corrals looking for high protein treats!
Alas, those were the days of my youth!
I have been sunning myself a little each day. Today, rain is in the forcast but only saw a few sprinkles early this morning.Gpa has been selling yearling steers and hiefers the past 2 weeks. This will help with the corral muck. Also reduce the amount of hay and grain used to feed cattle everyday. Took alot of extra food to feed the cattle this winter. This was due to such a long, cold, hard, snowy winter.
We still have all the fall calves here. They will go green pastures as soon as pastures are ready. The spring calving started about a week ago. We have a few new calves everyday.
We hope all the snow will be gone in another week or two.
Alot of snow still piled into the shelter belts and low ground.
Hope the prediction for 2 storms in April are way off base!
I'd like to mention we found a SENIOR DOG FORUM here at dogster... Thanks HQ! The seniors have alot of unique issues as we age. Pretty sure, I'm one of the older puppers at dogster?
Nice to have an area where we can see what's up with the other seniors.
This week my arthritis seems to be bothering me more than normal. My appetite hasn't been constant. Somedays, I eat 3 mini-meals in a day. Other days, like yesterday....I finally ate, 1 time in the evening. I just wasn't too perky! I was peppy enough this week to announce strange autos at our place. As well as raise a stink over cattle in Gma's yard! However, by the time they were back home the cows had stomped Gma's yard...Looks like someone used a tiller in it...Gma is most Upset! Big mess and will make mowing the yard alot of extra work...Cows used their sniffer radar...Found a gate Gpa forgot to shut.....Oopsie!
Well pals, looks like I survived another BAD winter! I think, Spring is here to STAY! Hopefully, we will have a very long, long, long growing season.... By Easter, I should have green grass in my yard...I wanna roll in the new grass!

Old Baby reporting for Gma, Precious and Our Pack. We would like to thank everyone for their prayers. Thank you for all the kind notes and pressies sent to Precious…. We appreciate each and every one of them….Gma and Gpa are calving now and a freezing rain is in tonight’s forecast. Gma doesn’t know if, she can write each FUR a personal thank you note. Our pack sends Big Licks, Butt Wiggles and Meows to each of you!
We’d like to report that Precious is eating, drinking and taking care of her business. We are so pleased! She has the glittery sparkle back in those deep large green eyes. Amazing what a mega dose of big gun antibiotics can do to knock an infection back and break a fever. Of course, this only helped the old kitty, because, WE HAD ALL THOSE POWERFUL PRAYERS IN OUR CORNER. BTW- Gpa was most upset that he didn’t know she had been bitten….Since, she spends her evenings on his lap snoozing….
He wonders which mature barn kitty had the kahoonas to take the Queen of the Ponderosa On?????
Shaving one’s hip and part of their tail makes things look worse than they are….The two 1” incisions are nasty looking. They are still draining which is good. They do not stitch them up, so they will drain and heal from the inside out….Choosing to use a shot of antibiotics instead of daily pills for 10 days. Takes the infection down faster…..Also, Precious is a stinker even with a pill popper, when it comes to oral meds….We have pictures to post as soon as we can work it into our day.
By bedtime last night…she knew, she was home. She was thirsty and hungry. We gave her a little water and food. She spent the night curled up on the loveseat in the sunroom.
Her appetite isn’t normal (usually that of a LION!) but she is eating….
She is upset with Gma because, Gma has her contained in the Sunroom. (14x20) She can not roam the house with the drainage. We will have a good size mess in the Sunroom in a few days. Either this or sit in the medium size dog crate… She Hates to be Crated! She can’t go into the dirty cattle room due to the open wounds….She wants in there to climb up into the open rafters and sit in the fiberglass insulation. Gma thinks fiberglass in those wounds would cause new problems. She is not pleased with Gma! Gma also wants Mazy to let her rest and take it easy. Mazy is mad because the door on the Sunroom is shut.
Gma said, “it is better that Precious and Mazy, be Upset with Her than with Grandpa…” You know the Momma figure, always has to be the bad guy, when it comes to the unpleasant stuff….
I’m a little extra WARM due to the closed door….which allows more heat to stay in the Entry which is my bedroom. However, this old gal knows, nothing is done in this House without a Good Reason…. It was 39 for the high today. I laid on the back steps awhile to cool off! Freezing Rain Tonight!!!! Will Winter Ever End? Still lots of snow on the ground…. Gpa has been trying to sell beef calves for weeks and weeks…. The weather and breakdowns keep the job from being done. This family is a bunch of tough old birds….Just like Timex watches…Stomp on them and they keep right on ticking!!!
What Awesome Pawsome Pals We have! Love You All…..Kisses, Old Baby
