Arrival Story:
Josie was left at our local animal shelter when her old family could no longer keep pets at their apartment. They had been her family for 10 years and had to give her away. Josie was so sad in her shelter kennel but, at the same time, she was so gentle and sweet! I fell in love with her, but had to bring my husband to meet her, too. Of course, he fell in love with her, too.

Josie was a website dog at our local shelter. Her shelter picture is just to the left. Visit or

This place is crazy!

Being the strong-willed dog that I am, I have noticed lately that everyone seems to have forgotten that I, Josie, am the boss of everything. I try to tell them and they just ignore me. So, I go to my woodpile and bark at all of the mysterious creatures that live there.

I like Katie and I'm glad she came to live here. She is not weird like Captain is, so we can romp and play. The only problem is that sometimes Gus tries to play with her while I'm playing with her! The nerve of that dog! I have to chase him off all of the time!

Gotta love the woodpile!

Carolyn and Brian bought a new house so that I could have a big backyard to play in... then, Brian made a giant woodpile for me!

I love the woodpile! It makes me so happy. I can climb on it, explore in it, or even just bark at it.

One day, I jumped in the woodpile and I cut myself. But, who cares? Sadly, I cared later that day when Carolyn took me to the emergency vet to get stitches.

Missing my toe, but not too sad about it

My foot was hurting me for such a long time. Carolyn would take me to the vet, but they didn't really help me. So, she found me a new vet.

The new vet thought that I had cancer, so she did surgery on my foot. She found that I had a tumor on my toe so she removed my nail and toe. It felt really strange at first.

A few days after my surgery, the vet called Carolyn to tell her that I don't have cancer! Carolyn told me that I am a very lucky dog.

Now, I feel better than I've felt in years! I can run faster than Gus and Captain so I make them chase me around the yard. Carolyn & Brian laugh and smile when they see me running. They know how happy I am!
