It's been one full year of my new life out of a crate! I love living in the holler!
With my mom's help, I'm learning to put my tail high in the air on walkies! It's not always up, but she lifts it and I am trying to remember it's okay to wag it.
I go to the dog park a lot and, although I mostly stay close to my mom or dad, I enjoy running and playing. My ears lift up and, because I'm so fast, people think I'm flying!
My coat is very soft now. I'm not sure I barked about this, but when I arrived in my forever home, I was dry and flaky and I had a bald spot on my back. All that is all better!
At night, I sleep in the big bed with the peeps and Sally. Copper sometimes starts his night's sleep there, but he leaves and crashes on the couch. I think he's being a good basset brother to give me more room. BOL!
I occasionally play with toys. My favorite is a soft green froggie that has egg squeakie toys that get stuffed inside. I like to take them out and am pretty quick. My mom says I'm a clever girl.
I know sit and we're working on shake, but I don't have that one quite yet.
Anyway, I know there are many more happy anniversaries of my Gotcha Day to come. I'm pretty excited about that.
Love,

There are tons of toys around this joint.
Copper and Sally walk by them, without even a sniff. I do, too. But occasionally, I'll pick one up and shake, shake, shake it. Toys are kinda-sorta of fun, but I really prefer belly rubs.
If I had to pick a favorite toy, though, it's a toss up between a cool, braided Kong monkey and a special feetball with robes out both sides that Copper won the Snoop feetball spread last year.
My mom will use toys to play with me. Sometimes, I jump way up high and catch them just to amuse her. After she smiles and I've apparently amused her, I put the toy down and come in for some belly rubs.
Toys are good. Belly rubs are the bomb.

After four months, my "new" peeps call me "The Cuddle Puddle". If you touch me while I'm off to do anything - sniff, eat a treat, play with a toy - I'll stop in my tracks and roll over for a belly rub. I just LOVE me some Lillie lovin'!!
I always find a way to snuggle close to my peeps and they just can't resist petting me instead of doing whatever they're doing (typing, watching, listening...). BOL! I've got these dumb humans trained and wrapped around my big, Basset-y paw! GO ME!
Over all, I thoroughly enjoy affection over anything else in the whole wide world. This forever home of mine sure does give me lots and lots of it! Thank Dog.
I lub it here!

For the second time since I've lived here, we took a trip to the BIG dog park. The first time, my dad took me by himself. This time both peeps went! :) I liked it a whole bunch! It's about a twenty-five minute ride and I puked both ways in the car.
When we got there, I stuck to the peeps like glue while Sally and Copper did their sniffing thing. I had my tail up in the air and loved every minute of it! It was worth puking in the car, for sure. :)
When all the dog park playing puppers came bombing by us, I started to run to join them, but then I stopped quickly after running about 15 feet or so, then I returned to my peeps. I did this time and again and it was super fun!
The dogs would run by. I'd run. Stop. Return to the peeps. Again. Again. Again.
I hope I can go back to the dog park soon! I like running in silly circles.

I know it's been a while since I've barked in my diary.
Things in my forever home are going very well! I just love my new creek and taking walks in the woods. :)
My peeps (I don't call them "new" anymore) spoil me but I can still be a bit shy. When they come home, I wait at the door with Copper and Sally and we get all excited! But when they want to give me a treat or get me outside to do my business, sometimes I run the other way. I don't know what that's all about, maybe I like making them work for my affections. BOL!
I love meals and Sally, Copper and I eat harmoniously together. Oh! That reminds me, my coat has gotten super soft since I moved here! Whatever they're feeding me must be good. My peeps love to pet me and I LOVE to cuddle and be pet.
Copper makes room on the couch for me now so I can jump up whenever and we all cuddle together. Sally never minded me up there, she's such a good sister.
We'll be going for our walkie soon!! See ya later!

Lillie

So, I drink from the toilet. Big deal, right? The new peeps are trying to remember the close the lid, but that's inconvenient for me. I like it when they leave it up.

I went to work with the mom lady and was nervous at that place. I didn't want to meet her co-workers, so I hide behind the mom with my tail tucked.
Everyone was really nice and they sat on the floor with me. I crawled up on the mom's lap and someone rubbed my back and grabbed a fold of skin and put in a microchip. I was so good, I didn't even flinch!
After I got it, I went to meet more peeps and then came back home. The new house peeps feel better I have this thing. I'm glad they're happy.

It was the happiest I've been so far since I've come to live here. The dad man took Copper and I down the creek in the holler. It rained the night before, so the water was running, but not too deep.
I stayed right with the dad guy and Copper did, too. We had so much fun! Copper didn't swim and he tried to walk around the deep spots. He's a silly basset hound because it was so hot out and the water felt great!
I love the creek!

Today, a box came in the mail! The mom lady opened it and inside were two brand new collars with my name on them! They also have numbers stitched in.
The mom lady seemed pleased with herself and put one of them on me. I must admit, I do look pretty good with it on! :D It has the word "Orvis" on the black clip part. The peeps here said they like these collars a whole bunch. It was then I noticed that Sally and Copper already have them on, too.
She told me next I have to get a microchip. I love chips! I think I'd like a gigantic sized chip instead of a micro one, though. I wonder if it will be Salt & Vinegar or BBQ or something yummy...

Lillie

I like to follow the mom lady everywhere.
Every morning she gets up as the guy dad peep is leaving for his work day. She feeds us (I'm getting a little better eating, but I still leave my bowl a few times to make a few walking laps around this place).
Then, we do our business and come back in the house. By this time, she's made herself coffee and usually lets Sally roo "good morning" greetings on Snoop Dog Beagleys.
After that, she goes into the little room with the tile floors and I, of course, follow her in there. She steps inside this box and I stay outside of it while she's in there.
Well, a few mornings ago, I realized it was a soft wall so I poked my head inside. My nose got all wet!
I did that again the next day and the next, too. I got a drink of water from the floor and then waited for her to come out.
