Hi Pals. We have an issue at our house and Mum asked me to see if any of you had any advice.
I don’t think this is a problem. As far as I’m concerned it is up to me how I treat everybody.
Anyway back to Mum’s request. Duncan’s first mom moved in with us about a year and a half ago. I was still a wee puppy of 8 months at that point. Everything is fine but I don’t pay any attention to her unless I want something. She can call my name over and over and over and over again, and I will ignore her. I don’t come in when she asks me to and I just treat her like she isn’t there unless I want a back rub. She is really good at those. When Mum says my name I look at her right away. I also come in when she asks, although it may take a little bit of time before I get up to the door. (I am a Scottie and have my pride, you know.) I wasn’t always like this, just last few months or so. We haven’t had a disagreement or anything like that, I just don’t listen to her. Mum thinks I’m just being a spoiled teenager. Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions?
Yeah, ANY FUR? I'm kinda the same way. I listen real good to mama but not so mush to our roommate. She's really nice and she like me--she taked me to the park (when mama was gone) and she play with me and stuff. I just don' listen to her too mush.
I don't listen to anyone but mom and dad...I just bark at anyone who tries.
I got my Schnauzer pride too....Oh yea, don't even try to pet me.!!
BOLBOL!! Gess whut, pupses! I du nod eben wissen tu my Momma :D
Whut yu guys r finkin', followin' orders an' junk, anyway?
I thinks you's just a one-woman dog, Hamish...nuthin' wrong with that!
I'm usually too busy barking to even Hear my name being called.
I been thinkin' 'bout you Hammy, not being "food motivated".
Do you respond to "high value treats" like small bits of hot dog or cheese or chicken or anything? Or is there a toy that you like more than anything? I know you have to be careful of the goodies you eat. But maybe there is sumfin you could use.
Maybe the roomie could tempt you with something you Really like? Get you to play or sumfin. Start simple. Maybe one-on-one without having Duncan or your Mom around.
Ok, that tidbit of advice is free, this time, 'cause I like ya. Next time, you'll get my bill.
BOL! Like I am all Victoria Stilwell.
I really am not food motivated. I eat my food and I'll take a treat if I feel like it. More often than not I store the treat away fur later when I feel hungry. Duncan knows better than to go in my pen and look fur things. If they are in there, they belong to me. As fur toys, I like a good squeaky toy but not so much that I'll do something fur it. I'm really just happy with what I have and don't need another person that wants me to do things. Mum just hasn't figured that out yet.
