Mum isn't happy with my skool. I'm having a great time but not learning what she wanted. I can sit when she asks just right but that is all I have learned in 3 weeks. We are spending too much time on socialization. I'm a social butterfly, I love everybody and everything except for birds. Them I want to eat. From the first class when we were unclicked from our leads I was right over there introducing myself first to Ben and then to Mitzi. I even split time with them to try and not show favorites or anything. They are both shy and don't want to leave their pawrents to play. So I have to go to them. It's not a problem for me, I'm glad to do it. But that seems to be all we accomplish each week. We did do a little of "leave it" and "drop it", but I know those words. I hear them all the time, especially on trash day. They come and pick up the trash early for most people, not us we are up before the sun. So the trash goes out the night before and the night creatures sometime rip open the bags that are not inside cans. All this great stuff is in those bags and I can smell it. Since it is dark and I am black I manage to get my snooter where Mum doesn't want it. Then I hear, Hammy leave it or once I have something, Hammy drop it. I do because if I don't we stop and the hand comes down into my mouth and takes my prize away. So has anybody else had pawrents that were not happy with their first class?
Hmmm...Dis r bery infewestin', Hammy. Yu see, I wuz a perfek lil' Angel Westie pup at my skool an' I gwadumatated at da top ob my cwass 3 times, 1st grade an' 2nd an' fird! At home, fings r bery diff'went an' I wissen tu no one, nod eben Dadda!!!
My skool wuz bery stwict an' dere wuz no time fur messin' 'wound or bisitin' uber pupses. Mabbe yu shood finish wif dat skool an' find a nu one wif more 'ttenshun paid tu da 'portant stuffs yur Mum wants yu tu wern. My pawents r finkin' ob goin' back fur sum wemedial werk wif me cuz I r nod a gud wissener at all. My pawents need werk on nod gibbin' in, tu :D
Yikes, I r chatty!
I went to skool when I was a puppy. I do remember "sit" and I surprised Mommy once by showing her I remembered "down". Mommy has never had a dog walk nicely on a leash. I am sometimes good with "leave it". Of course, we don't practice on a regular basis.
We have been able to watch It's Me Or the Dog. Mommy has already picked up plenty of tips to help us be better companions!
Mum is trying to find the instructor that Duncan had. She isn't there any more and the current instructor said she started her own skool, but Mum can't find it! When we practice at home Duncan has to be there too and he hogs all the attention. He knows all the moves and seems to remember them when we play class, outside that is another matter. But the skool used to be 8 weeks and they shortened it to 6 weeks now but I'm just not getting the edumacation that Mum wants me to have. So even though we can repeat for no cost, she doesn't think it is worth the time, if we don't have more training.
I'm glad you are chatty Z-pup, we missed you.
Zoe, we can't watch shows like that because of Duncan. He barks at dogs on TV and horses and monkeys and even cartoon dogs! So you can't enjoy or get anything out of the program. But if we could it would be a great idea.
My first skool (pubby skool) was mos'ly 'bout socializin, but I needed it. I was skeered of uvver doggies. I did learn sit, leave it, down, off an to 'spect my mama.
I taked anuvver skool (basic obedience) wif my cuzin Schotzy. We learned more stuffs, an dere was less play/socialization. Sit wif stay, down wif stay, "drop it"/give, "nice" (when gettin treats-don't nips da finners) an leash walkin an stuff like dat.
Hmmm, I never went to school. But my momma's school isn't teaching her anything - she still doesn't feed me all her food!
