I went to visit the Dogtor last evening. It was my second visit in 2 weeks. Last time I had an ear infection and some itchy skin. This time my ears are all better but my skin seems worse. They did some skin scraping which isn't as bad as it seems. They had Mum feed me a continuous stream of treats while they worked on me. There isn't any infection and I don't have the bugs (fleas & ticks), so they think I may have food allergies. I did gain 1 lb and 3 ounces. They also said I looked longer than I was last time. So I am growing. But now we have to look for different foods for me. The Dogtor said that there are not many, if any, foods for puppies with food allergies. So we are going to have to look hard to find something. This also means no treats! Except she said I could have sweet potato, yeah I like those. So if any of you have had any of these problems Mum could sure use your help. Bark at you later, time to go out for the late morning business trip.
Poor little dood!
Could you have other veggies? Maybe carrot slivers or green peppers? I dunno. I sure don't want you to get more itchy.
Yes, I can have vegetables. But we are trying to find me a good source of protein that is different than what I have been eating to see if it will fix my itchies.
Are you on grain-free food?
Your dogtor will get things figured out. That just seems wrong for a pup to have to watch what he eats. boo
Allergies are no fun! Finley has environmental allergies and she has to get shots.
Zoe, not yet. Mum is going to the store tonight to look for different foods. The vet said maybe we will need to try Duck, Lamb or Venison. I have never had those so I may not get itchies from them. I am hoping that the antibiotics and the benedryl make me less prone to scratching.
If Benadryl doesn't work for you, ask about trying another antihistamine. I take Claratin and for me, it works better than Benadryl. Each pup is different. I have environmental allergies-- got a skin test at the doggie dermatologist and I get allergy shots which are helping.
I feel bad for you, little dude...
