Wasnt feeling well but doing better now!

Hi pals, as I barked in my last diary, I went to the vet a couple of weeks ago and got put on some medicine for my seizures. Well I had a seizure last Wednesday, Mom just happened to walk in the door when it started! She wasnt too upset cause she knew the medicine hadnt had time to build up in my system. Well she is always upset when it happens but she wasnt upset about the new meds. Well normally after a seizure I'm back to my old self in a few hours. The next couple of days mom knew I wasnt feeling good(you know Mom's just know these things!) and I was acting very lethargic and she noticed I was very bloated. She was really getting worried about me. She decided to take me to our vet Sat. morning. Well its walk in and when we got there about 10-15 pups were ahead of us. We were at the vet for 3.5 hours! We were the next to last pup to be seen. Our vet is so good though, he takes time with each animal.
I did have a little high fever but he listened to my heart and lungs and heard no fluid. He said this medicine can make me feel lethargic but should get better with time. He wasnt sure why I was bloated (I gained 2lbs in 2 weeks!!!) or why the fever. He ask mom if she wanted a detailed blood work done and she said yes. Well they did it right there so that took about an hour but it all came back normal!!! That made mom feel so much better!
The vet decided to give me a shot and sent me home with 2 meds to take, one for upper GI infections. He said if I didnt improve or kept gaining weight to call them or come back! I have to go back in about 6 weeks for blood work on this new medicne and that's when mom is having my teeth cleaned.
The shot did make me feel better, so much that mom took me and my fursibs to the hunting club and let us all run around on Sunday. I had a great time and kept up with the other 3! I was pretty tired that night but loved being outdoors and running free. I seem to be better but mom is a little concerned about the bloating. When she picked me up this morning she said I felt like a ton of bricks! She is going to weigh me tonight and make sure I havent gained more weight. The vet didnt want to put me on a water pill because of my seizures and this new medicine I'm on but if I keep gaining he will have to.
All my wonderfur pals in Furever Friends group sent me POTP and sent me nice wishes and I thank you furry much for those! It's nice to know that you can always count on dogster pals!
I promised my pals that knew I was sick I would bark about it in my diary and give them an update!
Well its time for a long nap while mom is at work and it's raining here, perfect sleeping weather!

Vet check up with Petey

Hi pups. My new furbro, Petey, had to get stitches out today so for some crazy reason Mom decided to take me! She said I was due for a check up. I got to ride in Buddy's booster seat and I love it. Mom said it's mine now! When we got there I was very nervous and didnt want to go in the door but mom made me. As soon as we got in there I decided to poop! Mom couldnt believe it but lucky no other pups were in the waiting room. I was very upset so Mom thinks I was having flash backs to when I had my back surgery and had to stay at the vet for 10 days, locked in a cage and wearing a cone! Mom kept telling me she wasnt leaving me but I just couldnt be too sure. I had a pretty good check up. Mom talked to the vet about my seizures. They are going to try potassium bromide because it's not as bad for your liver. Have any of you pups been on it, and if so, did it help? We tried this once before but it was the liquid form and mom couldnt get it down my throat and she wore more of it then I took so she finally gave up on it! The vet told her it came in "pill" form, which we didnt know, so we will try again. I'll eat almost anything!BOL
After I take it for 6-8 weeks I go back for blood work and to get my teeth cleaned! The Dr was more concerned with the tarter on my teeth because of the health problems it can cause, almost more than my seizures. So he wants to see if this helps my seizures and then they will clean my teeth.
Oh, Petey got his stitches out and is doing great!
Mom was talking about how much all her furkids have cost this past month. All 4 of us have been and its always $200 each time she goes! That's why she cant afford more pups and was concerned about taking Petey, but she did say we are all worth it. Unfortunately for her, all of our shots and check ups are all due around the same time and around Christmas. She said she might have to open a savings account for us to pay for our checkups each year!BOL
Mom was thinking about taking us to the dog park, since finally no pup has stitches and we are all up to date on our shots. The sun is shinning but the wind is pretty cold. She said we might go tomorrow cause she doesnt want to over do it for me. I did throw up when we got home, which she thinks was my nerves!
Mom said we all need exercise, but it's too much trying to walk 4 dogs at same time. She thinks if we go to dog park, she can just walk around the perimeter of the park and we will always follow her(we dont let her out of our sight) and maybe that would give us a little exercise. Since we are all different sizes, weights and have different health issues, that we could all walk at our own pace and stop if we need to. She said we will try it and see what happens. We dont play much with the other pups at the park so this would get us moving some!

DDP and a new family member

Wow I was DDP all day and mom just saw it!!! GRRRRRRR....
Thanks to all my pals that saw it and sent me Rosettes! You pups are the best! Mom was busy buying us Christmas gifts so I guess that's ok!

Mom and Daddy took Buddy and Petey on a ride tonight and they were talking about Petey (cause he was real scared in the car and they think maybe he thought they were getting rid of him :(
Well Daddy said, "Well if he's staying he has to be fixed next week and his shots up to date" and Mom said "What??? you mean we can keep him??? and Daddy said "I guess so!" Mom was so happy and kissing Peteys face and saying welcome to the family. Petey barked all of this to me when they got home! Mom is going to try and work on him a dogster page tomorrow!!! We want to show our new furbro off to the world!!! He sure does take a lot of mom's attention. All he wants to do is be held. Maybe he's just catching up on love he didnt have for 2 years so maybe he will relax a little later. I dont mind too much, but oh bey, Molly and Buddy get really jealous!!!!
Well more on him later. We'll let you know when his page is built and we hope you all will be his pal!

House Guest visitng with the Morris Pack

Hi pups, I'm so excited momma is letting me bark about our house guest and tell the news.
We have a "stray" that my dad named Petey right after he found him. One of our best pals is named Petey so mom thought it was a great idea naming him after a wonderfur pup!
Anyways, Dad was driving home Monday morning from being out of town and was going down a busy hwy in Cleveland Al and saw a little pup almost get hit by a 18 wheeler, it had to slam its brakes on! The little pup even had a coat on(it was black with fur and said biker pup)...BOL...dad pulled over and he came right to him. Dad drove to a gas station right by and they didnt know the pup but told him where the vet was. Dad went there but they were not real nice and didnt even offer to scan him and said the shelter is down the street...well dad called Mom and Mom said no way bring him home.
So that's how Petey made it here. We will post pics because the vet is not sure what he is but mom has a pal on dogster named Jack that is at the bridge now and he looks just like him and he is a Lancashire Heeler(google pics of them), its part of the Corgi family. He might have JRT, min pin, doxie or chi in him. Mom took him to vet because his dew claws had grown into his pads and were bleeding. He is about 2 years old, weighs 13lbs. They clipped his nails, and he has hookworms, so being treated for that and a little fungus on his ear. No heartworms and had rabies shot. He is pretty healthy and the sweetest little guy evfur! Mom doesnt think he's been inside much though :( because he's not house trained, doesnt know how to play with pup toys or eat pup treats and doesnt go up the stairs but us pups are teaching him all our habits and tricks!
Well (sorry this is a long story) Dad left a flyer at the gas station..well the owner called today. It was a young guy that said he was from TN and just "staying" down here and after talking with mom a while he finally admitted he had only had "Petey" for not even a week! Some man at a gas station was trying to give him to people and the guy felt sorry for him and took him. He said he had been keeping him inside but had let him out to peepee (but at a business by this busy hwy, not a house) and he ran off. Well mom told him the vet bill was $60 and he said he couldnt pay it. Well you can guess mom really didnt want Petey going back to this guy. We think he had a good heart but was not really able to take care of Petey like he should so mom finally just said, "Do you really want him back?"
Well he kind of did at first but mom said she would find him the perfect, loving home so he said OK!!!! Mom was really happy.
Ok, the bad part of all of this is my fursis, Molly, is in heat this week and Petey is not fixed so the first night was CRAZZZZZYYYY town here. Petey would not sleep because he wanted Molly so mom finally about 2:00 am had to take him and put him in the basement in a xpen with blankets, bed, water, food and toys(even though he hasnt touched those) and turned the radio on and went to bed. He must of went to sleep because we didnt hear him. He's been staying down there at night and when the pawrents have to leave. Well momma finally decided to get Molly fixed today to help with this problem. She is doing fine but of course the smell is still there so it will take a few days for things to get to normal! Mom really wants to see how he will be without Molly in heat. He is very laid back except when it comes to wanting her and very loving so for mom to tell people about him she wants to see how he will really be in normal situations.
Dad took him to the hunting club yesterday to get some exercise and he stayed right by daddy the entire time and didnt even try to run off!
Mom is going to do her best to find him the best home he can have because for him to only be 2 it seems he has been through a lot. If mom and dad have to snap their fingers at him and say no(because of Molly) he cowards down and that makes mom sad, thinking what has happened to him. Everyday he is here will make it harder to let him go but mom knows she just cant have 4 dogs here. I think there will be lots of tears when he leaves us...happy tears for him finding a home and sad tears because he will be missed so much!
Mom is going to be very picky about who he goes to so if any of our pals know anyone looking for the sweetest pup evfur just pawmail us!
Maybe he will make a family a wonderfur Christmas present!

Diary of the Day...who me????

Wow pups, its late Sunday night and Mom almost missed seeing my picture on the community page as Diary of the Day! Also, our pal, Chester is Dog of the Day!!!! Congrats Chester!! Mom has been a little busy today, she was painting the foyer, but I think she had time to go to that book of faces place! She didnt even check her email till now! All my pals have been so wonderfur sending me congrats and gifts all day long! Between this and my barkday my page is really looking pawsome! It's kind of late but I'll bark my thank you's tommorrow! I think youre right Zoe, HQ heard all my barking!BOLBOL

My Barkday!!!!!!!

I had the best barkday and all my pals on here made it so wonderfur! I received so many wishes and gifts, you pups sure know how to make a guy blush! BOL
Most of you know we had my pawty last Sunday because last week was also my fursis, Molly's barkday. Mom always bakes us a cake and has us a pawty together, and we like that!
Mom didnt forget though that yesfurday was the day...she took off work just for me (well I like to think so). I wasnt feeling my best yesfurday so we took it easy and mom gave me more barkday cake (always a good thing) and they sang to me again!!!!! Then mom left and came home with this new plush, soft bed! See, since I cant jump and when the pawrents are not home, I cant get on bed or couches like my fursibs do....I have to stay on the floor. I lay on one of the ortho bed's now but mom was thinking it's not soft enough so she got me this big plush bed and laid it ontop of the ortho bed..so nows I gots the best of two things!BOL I like it but I think Buddy likes it too....he's been on it more than me!BOL It was a pawsome day and if I feel better today I think we are going for a walk! Live if good!

A new ramp for me!!!

My Dad, Mom and Human Bro built me a ramp yesfurday! Mom finally decided that a ramp would be good for me and probably give me more exercise. Also, the big reason would be I could go potty whenevfur I need to and not have to wait on my pawrents to carry me down the stairs. Also, I love to sunbath and now I can go out in the yard when the pawrents are at work, just like Molly & Buddy do! They had thought about this in the past but there really wasnt a great place for it so Mom finally decided that they could just cut out a section on the screened in deck....she thought it was worth it for me!
It was fun watching them build it...especially the human bro...he's hasnt done stuff like this much but my daddy was teaching him cause he is good at this stuff. I think it turned out great. They even put indoor/outdoor carpet on it. We hope it holds up if not they might have to change it out with something else.
It didnt take me long to catch on. Mom used steak to teach me how to go up and down it. I'll do anything for steak! I'm still a little shy about going out there on my own and using it...if mom walks out there with me and tells me to go out I will, but then I go back to the stairs where I use to wait for mom to come and pick me up..so Mom goes to the side where the ramp is and calls me and I walk over then go up it. Mom hopes that while she is at work today I will use it on my on. You pups know how it's hard to break a old habit!
Mom also thinks the ramp will help Buddy. She wants him to use it instead of the stairs so he wont have any knee problems later on. They actually built it large enough for Molly to use so knowing her she will just follow what we do!BOL
Thanks Mom, Dad and Human Bro for doing this for me! I know this is going to give me a lot more freedom!

My State Won A $500,000 Dog Park!

My momma went on the book of faces evefur day and voted for it and got her pals to vote (thanks to all of them!). Hundreds of people entered this contest so we were so shocked that Jennfer and Honey Belle actually won! Some of the things she wants in the park is, agility course, POOL, shaded ball playing area (it gets really hot down in Alabama in the summer), play area, training area and a clubhouse to have pawties!!!!
My mom is soooo excited, we dont know where it will be yet, but should be in our county cause the girl that won is the director of the Shelby County Humane Society in Alabama and we live in that county!
We just had to bark this news to all our pup pals and if any of you live in Alabama, maybe we can meet at the new park once its done!

Feeling Pretty Good....

Hi pals,
I just wanted to bark a quick note to let you all knows I's is feelings much much better! I've had so many pups asking about me and finally made momma type this out for me.
Being confined really helped give my back time to get better. Momma thinks that us pups are like humans...once you've had back surgery you always have to be careful and might have times when you dont feel so good.
The other day I actually ran (well as best as I can) and chased Molly in the back yard. Momma was so happy that she had happy tears in her eyes....Mom's....always crying...happy or sad!
Mom is still making me take it easy so I stay better....and momma said she might check into the "pin" vet and see if that can help me stay better.
I go Tuesday to the groomer to be shaved. Momma has always shaved me but my hair is soooooo thick she has burnt up 3 shavers and mom is tired of buying them so I have to be groomed. Buddy has been and came back ok so I guess I will be ok...they know I'm handicapped so they should be really nice to me. This is a new groomer in our area but momma went by there today to meet her and see the place and really liked it and the lady advertises that she handles abused dogs, or handicapp (like me) or dogs that have had bad experiences at other groomers...so she should be good! My hair grows so fast and I get really hot so mom is just going to have it shaved down....I cant wait, cause mom says I look and act like a puppy after a haircut!
Thanks again to all our great pals out there that sent us gifts, emails, good thoughts and prawyers when I felt bad. Mom says that the POTP really works around here. You pups are the best evfur!!
