Mom will be soo happy with me when she discovers the HUGE pot of gold that little green man left in the field. I sure hope she remembers I saw him first, BOL!
Today me and Harvey ventured all the way over to the edge of the pen when the sun shines onto the dark brown fence all day long. That heat it absorbs melts the snow there and the green grass is already growing along the fence. We LOVE fresh, green grass in the middle of Winter.
Today the time changed and now it's almost bedtime and it feels like it is only supper time. I hate when someone messes with my sleep time and my eat time! I sure hope it will change back to normal pretty soon.

Well, yesterday afternoon Mom took us down into the lab pen for a bit cuz it was warm and sunny still when she got home from work. I discovered that my jammies are really, really warm and I actually was able to enjoy myself running around down there.
Today was the real test, however. It was very cloudy and there was a stiff wind blowing around down there. Still, I was toasty warm and I raced all over the whole field. Mom was soo proud of me for running in the snow!!
She tried to get Harvey to come down there with us but he wasn't having it... he stayed right up at the gate hoping we would all freeze and have to come home sooner.
Harvey doesn't realize that if you run around lots you will generate your own heat! I discovered that today...my jammies did a good job of keeping my body warm but the running around everywhere kept my head and my feet warm, too.
I think I might enjoy the rest of the winter!!!

Today Mom took us all to work to stay while she goes to get Smokey. Not a problem, us Cresteds are pretty adaptable and as long as someone plays with us and feeds us, we are happy.
Well, right after I got there Mom went and got the mail. Next thing I knew she came and got ME only and took me out front. She had TWO brand new pairs of fleece jammies just for me! Remember, Harvey got some last fall and when I tried to wear them they were too big and fell off me and tried to strangle me.
Well, these were made for JUST me and they are too small for Harvey. One of them is tan with brown spots like a leopard, and the other has brown pants and a brown top with blue and white bones on it. They are super thick fleece and soo comfy and warm.
Mom didn't have time to take my photos with them on today, she said she would do that when she gets home from getting Smokey.
Gotta go, it's time for bed over here!

I am having a few issues with the loss of my eye. You see, (oops, an unintentional pun), well, it's like this...us Cresteds are an odd lot. One of our favorite activities is to grab a favorite toy and play keep away with the other dogs. We don't necessarily want the toy, we just don't want them to have it! My favorite place to play this game is the kitchen. We have a LARGE kitchen and there is a nice BIG rug on the floor. That is MY rug and I take MY toy and put it on MY rug and protect it. I am in a pretty central location there and can keep an eye (only one, of course!) on the other guys.
Well, that little Riley has discovered that I have a blind side. He sneaks up beside me and grabs MY toy and rushes off out of my vision and then into the living room. Meanwhile, I am still standing there, protecting MY toy. Mom sits in the living room and laughs and laughs. When she laughs, I normally will grab my toy and run in to see why she is laughing. I start madly looking for my toy and it is GONE. That makes her laugh even more! Sounds like I have a MEAN MOM, huh?
The other issue is when we are all running down the path. I try to keep in the middle of the path to make sure I don't get too close to the edge with my blind side, since I can't see the snowbank on that side. Well, those other guys, particularly Toto and my dear brother Harvey keep rushing up behind me and passing on my sighted side. Of course, I move over to allow them room to pass and WHAMO, I am face first in the snowbank!!! So, then Mom wonders why I am always the last one down into the field... right Mom, I LOVE to go flying into the snowbank that I didn't even see there on my side!
Finally, there is Smokey the cat. I swear, he KNOWS which is my blind side and he comes rushing up and jumps me before I can see him coming and get away. The only good part about that is Mom keeps his nails pretty short so it doesn't hurt too much when he slides off my side.
Mom says maybe as time goes on I will develop a better sense of hearing or smell on that side. Surprisingly, I can't rely on my sense of smell cuz when they take away your eye they take away your tears and those tears keep your nostrils moist. As those of you who live up here in the cold country know... a dry nose can't tell smells nearly as well as a nice, moist one!
Oh well, it is still way, way better than having Mom chase me around and stuff medicine in my eye four or more times a day. AND, it doesn't hurt anymore at all!!!

Hey, Mom said I was a diary pick today! Cool. Take that, Harvey, hehehe!
Mom can't write too much now cuz it's snowing out and everyone is coming to drop off their dogs early so she has to go to work early. She says if it were her she would wait until the snow is melted off the roads!! They don't have to be here until 9 or even 9:30.
Oh well, at least they didn't cancel this time!!!
Thanks for the visits... I'll write more late I am sure.

Today it was really, really warm outside so Mom took us down to the lab pen. She has finally realized that I DO NOT care for that snow, so I stayed on the porch in the sun. I must say, it felt really, really nice, too!
Anyway, tonight we were running around the house and I went up to Mom for some lovin'. She picked me up and noticed I already have a suntan on my face and neck!!!! Cool, huh? Mom thought it was pretty cool cuz she doesn't like my WHITE Winter skin. In the Summer it is all black, but it quickly turns white when I don't stay in the sun. Mom did notice that the big scar down my eye didn't get a suntan. Ooops!
Maybe if it's sunny and warm tomorrow again Mom will come home and let us out during the day. Maybe she will take off my jammies so I can get some sun on my bod!!!

Ahh, it's a great life I have! Now that I am all fixed and stuff Mom lets me hang out in the house all the time. Before we had to rotate cuz some of us boys who weren't fixed tried to start fights all the time. I'm not mentioning any names, but I will say... IF some other boy dog comes up to me and starts egging me on, I will not just walk away!!! Now it's not a problem at all... we all coexist with no issues at all. Mom says it's another plug for neutering your male dog! And, it doesn't even matter how old they are when you neuter them... Beanie was 8 weeks, Harvey was 8 months, I was 18 months, and Toto was 38 months. We are all perfect gentlemen now. I will admit that when I first got house privilages with the other boys I did need to mark lots of stuff as mine!!! I don't even bother now cuz I know we all share everything. Well, we don't share EVERYTHING... Toto and Beanie and Harvey sleep in Mom's bed... me and Tanner and Louie have to sleep in the poodle room... not fair, cuz me and Louie aren't even poodles!!!
Anyway, as much as I like those other dogs, Harvey and I still like to hang out together. It's strange cuz even though we are brothers Harvey left our breeders when he was 12 weeks old and I didn't leave until I was 10 months old, so Mom says we probably don't even remember we are brothers. I say it's cuz we are both Chinese cresteds and as such, we do the same things and think alike. Too bad Harvey has a bad leg cuz he gets really jealous when I do my Meercat walk and he can't do it. It puts me HIGHER than those poodles, at least physically, hehehe!

Mom took my stitches out this morning and pronounced me cured!!! Yup... I AM cured and I now feel great! It is a tremendous relief to not have that stupid eye bugging me all the time. Mom let my pony down so my crest is back over my gone eye and there is nothing goopy or sticky anymore to make it stick to my eye and irritate it!
Mom talked with my vet the other night and both she and he agreed that vets should perhaps consider enucleation more often. Mom sees lots of dogs in her grooming practice who have serious eye issues and are also in constant pain like I was. Yes, it IS a serious operation, but it is way, way nicer when it is all done and healed. It only took two weeks, too!!!
Today Mom has the day off and we are housebound! There is ice all over everything, including the nice, fluffy snow, so we can't even go play in the lab yard. Mom says it's too dangerous... she remembers (because she has a HUGE scar on her face), getting a big cut when she was a kid and they were sliding on an icy crust. The sled broke thru and she went face first into the crust! She doesn't want any of us to get cut!!!

Well, today Harvey and I actually made it all the way down to the bottom of the path! I was proud of Harvey... he was actually RUNNING in the snow!!! I thought it was really beautiful out there with the bright sun, blue sky and... the snow even looked blue, too. So, I allowed Mom to get a couple of photos of me looking relatively happy! I would have been happier if Crystal hadn't tried to head me off at the pass!
Tonight Mom took out my pony. She said my eye is all healed now and she is just waiting until it's two more days to remove my stitches. It's nice to have my hair covering it up again!
Well, I gotta go now, it's time for my favorite TV show and I need a seat in the front row!

Well, it's been five days since my surgery and I would like everyone to know I am feeling GREAT!!! It is sooo nice that my eye doesn't hurt anymore at all and Mom isn't always chasing me around putting stuff in it that burned and also fogged up my vision. Yeah, it took a while for me to get used to only having one eye... the hardest part was figuring out where my treat was when Mom would hand it to me...my depth perception is totally GONE!
In fact, I am feeling SOO good that this morning I actually went outside and ran around in 24 inches of new snow!! It was a bit chilly, but I had my toy and had to keep it away from Harvey! Mom took a few photos but she said they are all out of focus from the snow... the silly camera was trying to auto focus on the snowflakes, hehehe! She is going to try again later this afternoon.
Meanwhile, I am napping cuz it is a BORING world here today... snow, snow, and then a bit more snow!!! Toto and Beanie are VERY happy, so is Crystal!
