I've been so busy enjoying my new life that I've neglected my diary. I'm settling in pretty well as a naturalized American citizen. Since my Florida trip, I've spent a lot of time at the store where my man works. I really enjoy meeting the people who come in and talking to them. For a while I was the only dog around and lived with two rescued cats for 8 hours a day. About a month ago, the
owner of the store adopted a couple of pomeranian pups who now come to the store frequently. I think that they like me, but because they are so small, they pretend that they are afraid of me just to get picked up and cuddled. I also do a lot of walking. Every morning before work and every afternoon after work, we go for walks. I love it and we average about 5 miles a day. Today for the first time since I was rescued, I was allowed to walk off leash for a while. We were way out in the country and far away from any roads so my friend thought I would be safe. He knows that I like to run, but that I'd never run away. No sirree, I have it good and I'm not going anywhere. Today we didn't work because we had a project to take care of. There is a beautiful trail around a reservoir that we walk everyday and that Blou my predecessor walked also. It was one of his favorite spots and is one of mine. Today we set a memorial bowl carved out of native stone along the trail so that all the dogs that walk with their people would have someplace to get a drink. Lots of the owners carry water and pour it into their hands so that their dogs can drink it. Now they will have a nice
bowl to fill for their dogs to drink from. There is a brass plate on it. It has a dog print and the words, "Blou 1995-2009 A Special Dog". We placed it around noon and already we've had some
very favorable comments. Blou was certainly Special and very well known. I'm proud to be his successor and hope that I can live up to the job. He is a tough act to follow, but I'll do my best.

My first trip

It's Sunday morning and my friend is doing a lot of running around the house. I've heard him tell some friends that he's going to Florida. I think that he's taking me because he's been measuring out my meals and putting my food in little zipper bags. They then go into the suitcase. I know that he's not going to leave me with anyone or kennel me because I heard him say once that he used to take Blou on all his trips. I'll keep you posted.

Well, I've been in my new home for 5 days already and think that I'm going to like it --LOTS.
I have been getting lots of exercise and good food. Everyone who meets me says that I'm really handsome, but that I'm too skinny. My friend says he can take care of that, Goody, Goody. During the week, I go to work with my friend. I like being in a store. There are so many nice people coming in all the time and I get to meet them all. Tomorrow I'm going on a trip. Plans had been made by my friends to go to Florida, wherever that is, and rather than cancel the plans because of my arrival, they decided to take me along. I'm excited.

My adoption

I was found on the petfinder site while I was living about an hour north of Toronto, Canada.
I had been rescued from a high kill shelter and was living in a foster home. Yesterday, April 6th, I met my new friend who drove 5 hours to pick me up. At first I was hesitant about going with him, but once I got into the car I knew I had made the right move. He talked to me all the way home, and we were comfortable with one another by the time we got to Bradford. I've been here only two days, and I've met a lot of nice people who knew Blou who used to live in what is now my house. Blou was a wonderful dog who had many friends. I know that I can't replace him, but I can help fill the gap that he left in so many hearts.
