sunday, may 15, 2005 - my mama and i went into san francisco to participate in this year's bay to breakers...we got up pretty early for a sunday...after we parked by the ocean, a friend of ours picked up us and gave us a ride to the start line (way on the other side of the city, downtown)...so many people there...saw some other wheeled objects different from mine...they did not have dogs in them...they had little kids and babies in them...it was like a party...people were tossing tortillas in the air...i tried to eat one but my mama told me not to.
shortly after 8am, the crowd started moving and we were moving along with them...mama was a little nervous until she saw a few other doggies there...
there was a pope mobile in the race...some naked people...guys dressed like elvis...white guys dressed like the harlan globetrotters...lots and lots of people dressed in costumes...
when we were going up the hayes street hill, some people started to slow down so mama and i had to go around and pass them...some naked lady gave some mardi gras beads as a gift...i wore them for the rest of the race...people were so kind...there were some that rooted for me, some took pictures of me and people talking to my mom asking what happened to my back legs...we took advantage of all the water checks on the route and kept moving...some kids at the race came up and petted me...that was nice.
i got excited when we entered into golden gate park...lots of green!
as we approached ocean beach and it was a little misty and foggy which was nice...we were almost there at the finished line...we both made it! it took 3 hours and 19 mins...this was a 7.5 mile race across the city, both a first for mama and me...when we walked back to our car...mama helped me into the back area...gave me some water and some doggie cookies...both her and i took a nap in cargo area before we headed home...
oh yeah, when at the end of the race, we got our picture taken at the end of the race....that night, i slept well with my beads around my neck.
