Arrival Story: Graduation present : ) I planned on going to the pet store to "look" at Sheltie's. When I got there I was disappointed because I wanted a girl and they only had 2 boys. We asked one of the workers anyway to find out if we overlooked any Shelties. The worker walked us over to a bin that contained very small pugs and other puffy dogs. Poor Nina was being beat up by the pugs. I put my arms in the bin to pet her and she clung to my arm for dear life. Of course I asked to play with her in the play area. Nina new the command sit the first day I played with her. Talk about smart! I wanted to take her home at that instant and couldn't bare the thought of anyone taking her. I just moved back into my fathers house after graduate school and had to ask him first if I could get my doggie. I went home and told him how sweet and cute she was and believe it or not he said yes right away!!! I went back the next morning and came home with my little Bella Nina. I didn't know she had kennel cough and a parasite (i never owned a dog before.) It took 2 months of antibiotics for Nina to recover. Her first 6 months at home were a little shaky. Sheltie's like to find trouble..... She finally recovered from her kennel cough, then she broke her leg jumping off my bed. She has a lot of energy and thought she mastered jumping on and off of my bed. The day after she got her cast she decided to taste a bumblebee of some sort, was stung in the back of the throat and visited the vet once again for emergency medicine. Nina scared us once by escaping from the yard, but a nice lady called us and we got her back (Always keep a ID on your dog--no one really knows about those chips) Nina is now 5 years old this past 3-9-09. She has grown into such a beautiful, sweet, cuddly, playful, smart sheltie. My family loves her to death! When I go home for a visit no one wants to know how I am, it's always "How is Nina??!?!??!!" Nina loves to give kisses so smooches to you for reading about her!!
Bio: What kind of dog loves to be held like a baby, cuddle in between two people or climb all over you to give you her toy? NINA-- If your legs are up on a chair/ foot rest, Nina will climb up across the bridge created by your legs just to get close to your face. She is a little mountain goat!
