Hi! today I took my brother and sister to the stable. I introduced them to my friends and we got petted by all kinds of people. I think they had a good time. Sometimes horses can be scarey.

Trip

Jillian and I will be going on a trip with Mom for a couple of days. It is supposed to be a greyhound picnic, but I thought the two girls would need someone to protect them so I'm going too. We are going to stay in a hotel and everything.

Marino is going to be very jealous and Woody will be very dissapointed about not going, but Mom said she couldn't fit everyone in her car (a new Mustang!).

Now, I've been on a LOT of trips with mom but they are usually at someone's house or camping where we get to hike in the mountains or go to the beach. We must be moving up in the world. We're going to the groomer's and everything 2 weeks ahead of schedule!

Can't wait to tell you all about it when we get back. Maybe I'll get myself a sleek, athletic girlfriend. They can't all be as lazy as Jillian.

Our Trip

Well, I took that trip with Mom and Jillian. We sure had fun. Jillian kept telling me there was more to the world than poodles. I can't believe how many greyhounds were there. They were all so nice to me though. I got to be an honorary greyhound at the picnic. I even got a goody bag.

There were people selling all kinds of dog treats and clothes. I got a new collar and Jillian got a feathered, flowered hat, a greyhound jacket and a collar. We even bought some presents for Woody and Marino so they wouldn't feel left out.

We looked lovely in our new clothes. I wore my cowboy hat and new collar
and Jillian had on her new fancy hat and cowgirl bandana

We stayed in a very nice hotel that treated us like royalty and even gave us a dog treat when we checked in. Mom took us out to dinner and ate with us on the patio of a restaurant.

I love traveling with Mom. I could get used to the hotel stuff and getting to go everywhere mom goes.

We stopped at fruit stands and ate peanutes and played with little kids. I even snuck a peek at a buffalo at the zoo. Of course, I did get a little excited over a giant chicken (Mom called it a peacock). Don't worry, I don't eat chicken anymore.

Well, I've got to go. Jillian says it's her turn to write. What a beautiful weekend!

PARK!

Hey! We got to go to a dog park where we weren't the only dogs for a change. It was sooo much fun! I was very excited and yapping to get in the gate. As soon as we got there about 20 other dogs came to the gate to say hello. We just ran like banshees all over the place. It was great! Nobody was grouchy or bossy, just having a ball.

I haven't been getting out like that lately. It's been so hot and the coyotes at the stable so brave that I haven't had any off leash time in weeks. I sure miss that! I hope we get to go again soon. Mom says she will make sure we get to go again soon.

You shoulda seen Jillian run. She acted like a racer instead of a blob out there. Some of the guys flirted with her but she's just not interested in hooking up. Probably because her brothers were all there watching out for her.

I thought my mom left me for a minute. She walked across the field and I saw someone on the outside of the fence that I thought was her. Boy was I panicking for a second. My mom saw the look on my face and called for me. When I heard her voice I ran like the wind looking everywhere until I saw her. What a relief! Of course, I know she would NEVER leave me behind and not come back so I don't know what I was so worried about.

Boy am I beat! THink I'll go to bed.

Sad Day For All

Well, this is Wednesday and yesterday was a very sad day for us all. Our very old friend, Ernie the horse, died and Mom cried and cried. I've seen this before with Sampson and Charlie, but it doesn't get easier to watch. Mom was prepared for it because he was 37 years old, but she still wasn't ready. All I could do is sit by her quietly. He did go as mom had hoped, by just going to sleep on earth and running over the rainbow bridge in the morning. We were glad for that. I'm sure that all of our family members were there waiting to show him to the beautiful green pastures and he's already running and bucking like a young stallion again.

Happy Trails Ernie. Until we meet again.

Holiday Weekend

Whew, what a weekend! Mom took me, just me, to Lake Tahoe with her. We visited Grandma and Great Grandma and also our Aunt in a town called Placerville.

We got to stay in a motel again. This one had a patio that overlooked the woods. You wouldn't believe how good it smelled there. I've never seen so many stars. I've been to Grandma's house before, but we always stayed there. Now she has a neighbor who isn't very nice to other dogs (No dog park for him) so we stayed somewhere else. It was lovely.

We walked all around Placerville on Saturday and I was allowed in every store (except food stores) and got petted by almost everyone who saw me. They said I was so well behaved they would rather have me in the antique shop that some humans. I had just been to the hair salon so I was looking mighty fine, if I do say so myself.

Sunday we went hiking near Lake Tahoe. We could actually see it from a point on the trail. We hiked a long way and then I got to swim in a lake called Aloha. What cold water! I was so thirsty that I didn't mind though. My mom packed me a little lunch and a water bowl for the trip, but I was too excited to use the bowl and didn't even want to eat. On the way back we took a boat ride across another lake. That was pretty neat! There was actually another Standard Poodle lady on the same trail. We were quite the couple. People couldn't get over the poodles in the mountains. Don't they know that we are bred for hunting? We are water dogs with webbed feet and everything.

Mom drove home through California's gold country (Hwy 49) and we stopped at all of the little historic towns and shopped. We even had lunch and ice cream in Sutter Creek. What a wonderful weekend. I think my brothers and sisters are a little jealous, but Mom said she would take them sometime too. (P.S. That's Mom in the red. She hates the picture of her, but I snuck it in so you could see who loves all of us so much.)

Boy, that kitten, Nala, sure is a wild thing. I just want to lover her and give her tons of kisses but she just growls and spits. Actually, she has gotten better but sometimes I guess I scare her. All I want is to love love love her. How can I make her understand?

Well, it's that time of year again. Mom dressed us up in our new leather coats and took us to see Santa and to have our pictures taken. Aren't we the handsomest bunch!

We even got to spend the afternoon at the dog park.

Well, here we go again. Our parents have gone on another vacation and left us with the sitters. Hmph! I'm a good boy and mom knows it. I love to travel with her and stay in hotels but she said I couldn't go to the marathon in Florida and took daddy instead.

I sure hope they do well.

GOOD LUCK MOM AND DAD!!!
