Hello everyone. It is a sad day in our house again. Jillian's last diary entry has to be made by me, her mom, because she has crossed the bridge.
After several great weekends playing at the dog park and going to doggie daycare with her brothers, we noticed that she had lost a little weight. Didn't think much of it because of all the extra running around she was doing.
This Sunday we took her to a craft faire at a local park where she got endless pets from everyone she met and even got to sample the treats and pick the ones she wanted from a booth. All seemed fine and we went to Petsmart and bought groceries before going home.
When we got home she shared her doggie cookies with her brothers (sitting pretty as always) but didn't want her dinner. We noticed that someone had thrown up but didn't know for sure who and thought it was just too many cookies.
The next morning she didn't want breakfast and didn't want to get out of her bed. I took her to the vet thinking she just had a bug when they found a lump in her abdomen. X-rays showed a tumor on her spleen.
THis morning I took her to have her spleen removed thinking that I was going to bring her home in the morning but when they opened her up they found that she had multiple tumors throughout her liver and pancrease that it most likely had spread throughout her body.
Jillian didn't get to wake up from her operation and I didn't get to say goodbye in person, but I hope she knows that I am sorry and would have done anything to make her better if I could have.
I WILL MISS MY HOUNDIE BOUNDIE JELLY GIRL and Woody, her wrestlemaniabrother, will surely miss her too.
We love you Baby. . .

Wow, this weekend was Mom and Me bonding weekend. We went to the West Coast Greyhound Gathering in Solvang, CA. It was GREAT! We stayed in a very nice hotel with lots of other greyhounds. THe weather was a perfect 72 degrees all weekend and we walked and walked.
There were nearly 300 greyhounds there in all colors and ages, all rescued/adopted from some situation (mostly racing). I got blessed by the priest at the mission and even got to go to Monty Roberts' Flag Is Up Farms (The Horse Whisperer) with mom.
Mom bought me the most beautiful emerald green, satin collar with a Japanese print and green and gold beads to wear with it. I also got two brand new jackets one for cool weather and one for cold weather.
I had such a good weekend with Mom. She took me to eat at restaurant patios and shared her meals and I had her attention all to myself.
We brought back baked goodies to share with my brothers and new collars and tag holders.
I can't wait until next year!

I got to go to a resort this weekend. My brothers, Woody and Marino came to, but I didn't even have to share my suite with them.
Mom bought me a new toy to sleep with and they even had a special bed for me even though we took our own.
The nice ladies let me play with a golden retriever in a big yard and playroom all weekend and even let my brothers and a little pug come and play with us once they realized that I like little dogs and play nice.
I played and ran my heart out for four days. Whew! I was so worn out that I plopped on my bed and slept like a rock all night. I ate good and played hard. I want mom to take us to doggie daycare there sometime.
This weekend I am going to a greyhound gathering with Mom. I can't wait to see some more greyhounds. I will make sure to bring special gifts home to my brothers.
