Birthday: June 22nd 2008 Bio: Java is a petite, glossy black, 1 year old female rescued from a high kill shelter down south. She has a fabulous temperament, loving every dog and human she meets. She's confident on her own and comfy in her crate, but her favourite times are when hanging with her people or snuggling on a lap!
She is strong willed but is has a definite eager-to-please submissive streak with both dogs and people. In the week we've had her in foster, she has learned SIT, DOWN, WAIT, COME (depending on the balance of treat versus distraction) LEAVE IT (sometimes) GIVE (usually) and is getting much better with her housetraining.
As you see, her training is a work in progress; and although she's a year old, all these "house rules" are new to her. She hasn't gotten heel down pat yet, but she's not a strong puller. > >She's also learning that fetch on land or water is great fun, as is hiking with a group of doggy pals. She would be a great agility dog as she loves obstacles and can leap a good 5 feet straight up in the air! Another great new find is the joy of a peanut butter filled Kong!! What a fun girl! With continued training she'll make an amazing pet for an active new family
