Get a whiff of that!

Wait!
Clean.
Frito chip
fragrant-free
toes?

I miss my (on some
days Ritz crackers)
frito chip-toes! It
was my canine
aromatherapy!

Since spring
arrived, I've been
having itchy paw
flare-ups (no
red yeast though
thank woofness).
My guardian has
been taking me
everyday into the
hooman tub
room for diluted
betadine solution
feet baths. =/

I have an idea!
I'll go and smell
Stella's toes. =D

Obedience Training Week 1

May 4th 2010 2:51 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

Yippeeeee! Obedience!

We're attending weekly
training sessions.

Our goals are:
#1 re-training BFF
#2 well-mannered ME
#3 CGC title

(*BFF needs more training
than I do. BOL!)

Freddie, the trainer from
Pet Paradise, showed BFF
and I basic and gentle
methods of obedience
training. I cannot
emphasize this enough,
but BFF needs more
training than me!
She has been confusing
me all this time, BOL!

Since I am excitable, a
jumper, become easily
distracted and quite the
puller, I wear a prong
collar during training.
No harsh corrections
here pups. This particular
training tool worked great
for me. Moreover, my
training is filled with
tons of positive affection
and reinforcement.

The trainer showed
us how to properly use the
prong and that timing is
critical to redirect my focus.
We have a long road
of training ahead of us.
=)
We're looking forward
to it plus a lot of homework!

Week 1 at home - short
10 minute sessions on heeling
followed by leashed fetch
games.

Have any of you Dogsters
wore/trained with a prong
before
?

Eventually, I will ween off
the prong and will be able
to use a regular flat collar;
especially during walkies.

Heel walkies is one of our other
goals. I am currently using
the Easy-Walk harness; which
served as a crutch during
walkies (to prevent me from
pulling), however,
wasn't as resourceful
in training. Freddie advised
for us to refrain from off-leash
activity for a while.

Hmmmmmph.......

LazZzzZzy Weekend

May 3rd 2010 7:54 pm

I's slept with BFF
under the covers
Saturday after
the K-9 walk, all
day Sunday and
even this
afternoon.

Woo-woo-woof!

7PM, we'z went for
short walkies down
the street and on the
street behind my home.

Tomorrow I has
an appointment with
Freddie, a trainer at
Pet Paradise. This
place is a boarding
facility and also
trains the dogs for
the border patrol.
BFF wants to continue
my training. As
long as the methods
are purely
positive, we'll be
making frequent trips
to Pet Paradise.

Kiddie Pool Neo
BFFs
Me and my guardian

BFF scooped up Neo
(named after Keanu
Reeve's character in
the movie Matrix =P)
and her hooman BFF
since college, Lisa.
I was crated in the
back of the four runner.

I talked up a storm!
Neo got to sit in the back
seat with Lisa, and I didn't
understand why he was
able to sit up there. So
I became vocal and very
excited.

As soon as we arrived
at Cohen Stadium, I
calmed down and took in
the sight and smells. The
grass felt great in between
my toes.

I met two Beagles, a few
Yorkies, a Golden, a Dobie,
and saw so many pooches!
I even took a picture with
Scooby Doo!! Raaawrf!!

A few ladies came up to
me to give me kisses and
told me how gorgeous I
was! I was also very
well-behaved too! I did
not jump on anyone like
I usually do. I was
attentive to BFF.

Every time I sat close
to Neo he would
ahem, lick me my girly
parts BOL! I simply
wanted to play with Neo.
I play-bowed, and tried
to entice him. He chewed
and kissed my ears. I
guess he liked the taste of
my sunscreen.

I wasn't adopted from the
HSEP, but Neo was -
adopted by Lisa and her
family in '99. He's a senior
so I call him uncle Neo.
The hoomans were
given goodie bags filled
with hooman paper stuff
and a few organic dog treats.

There were lots of tiny pups
dressed up in little outfits BOL!
There were fun contests for
pooches and a fashion show
too. We didn't participate
rather, sat on the grass as
spectators.

Neo liked to put his
paws inside the kiddie pools
to drink. BOL! It was very
cute! ♥

Dear Dogs and Cats

The following was found posted very low on a refrigerator door...

Dear Dogs and Cats:

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however, dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.

For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine/feline attendance is not required.

The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.

**Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:

TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:

(1) They live here. You don't.

(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.

(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.

(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:

(1) eat less,

(2) don't ask for money all the time,

(3) are easier to train,

(4) normally come when called,

(5) never ask to drive the car,

(6) don't smoke or drink,

(7) don't want to wear your clothes,

(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions,

(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and

(10) if they get pregnant, you can sell their children...

My Daddy is Over the Rainbow Bridge

April 26th 2010 7:25 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 10 people already have ]

My guardian received a
notification from my
previous owners that my
daddy recently passed
away.

Evidently, a roaming
boxer managed to jump
over the tall fenced property
while my previous owners
were away from home.

My daddy was only
defending himself and
protecting his home.
Unfortunwoofly my daddy
suffered from his injuries
and had passed.

My mommy is doing well
and was thankfully not
involved in the fight.

Rest in peace my strong,
blocky-head, and big
pit bull daddy. Dog bless
his soul and for bringing
me into this world. Play
hard at the rainbow bridge
daddy. I love you!

Counter-Conditioning Followed by a Play Date

April 24th 2010 4:51 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

BFF and I practiced
counter-conditioning
training for 15 minutes at
a park near downtown.
A special thanks to the
beefy well-built pigeons
who helped us train. =P

We started 6 feet away
then slowly stalked
the pigeons and were
as close as 2 feet away.
I did pretty well ignoring
the birdies, 'watch mes,'
and 'sit' commands.

I secretly wanted to run
and catch them, but knew
we had a job to do. The
training was also fun
since I was rewarded
with treats and sticks on
the ground to chew on
when I followed my
commands.

After training, we went to
Moe and Chiplé's cribbo
for a play date. Our energy and
play style match well together!
It makes our hoomans very
happy to see us play well!
In the backyard we dug
holes in the dirt, chased one
another, took H2O
refreshment breaks,
wrestled and tug o'war with
a stuffed lobster!! I'm in
my crate now - falling
asleep. I hope efurrypup
is having a fur-tastic weekend!
