We have a crazy man in our town that is trying to pass a no barking ordinance. According to the proposal, if we dogs get a few complaints our moms and dads have to either buy or rent a shock collar! How crazy is that? I'm OK because I am not a barker but I have friends that are and I don't want them being hurt. My mom is on a crusade to find all the documented info to show that they are not an acceptable form of training. It gets crazier because the man that is proposing this ordinance lives in the country, not in town. I wonder how he would like to have a shock collar around his neck zapping him all the time? He doesn't even own pets so he doesn't realize that a few barks now and then are well worth the happiness that we bring into people's lives. It is so sad! If you have any info or know of any situations were bark collars have caused either medical or behavioral problems, my mom would love to know.

Wow! That sure is crummy! If the guy lives in the country then can you get a petition going to stop the order?? Barking dogs are a form of security in homes and neighborhoods! If a dog barks, the crooks are likely to go elsewhere!!

We just read a way to get dogs to stop barking is to teach them "speak" when they are barking, then teach them "quiet" when they stop! My mama is going to try it with my sissy. She's a barker. There's a difference between a bored sad barking dog and a dog who thinks there's danger.

Maybe instead there should be an ordinance saying everyone has to walk their dogs at least once a day!!! This could make tired dogs and they won't bark as much! Shock collars are not going to solve the problem. What about calling Cesar Milan for help? He's a dog lover and knows there are other ways to get around this.

What a jerk.
